Newcastle Bid £10M For Sheyi Ojo – Withdraws From Liverpool Tour To Discuss Move

The Sun is reporting today that Rafa Benitez has been talking to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp about a possible permanent deal for the Reds 20 year-old impressive winger Sheyi Ojo.

The report is that Newcastle are willing to offer £10M for the player, after Newcastle were unable to get a loan deal arranged for the season.

It sounds like really good news for Newcastle because Ojo will now miss the Liverpool trip to the Far East so he can discuss the possible move to Newcastle.

20 year-old Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo

Maybe this is the breakthrough we have been looking for?

It’s been a long drawn out affair with the 20 year-old as both Newcastle and Middlesbrough have been trying to get him on loan for the season and at one point it looked like he would join the Smoggies.

If this news in the Sun is accurate it says we have a chance of signing the player outright, which is what Rafa has wanted to do all along and he would be a great signing for us.

The fact that he has been left behind by Klopp also suggests that Liverpool are interested in the possible deal so maybe the German manager has had a change of heart and is now willing to sell his young winger?

Rafa tried to sign Ojo in January and he was also interested in getting him last summer if Newcastle hadn’t been relegated.

Ojo was born in Hemel Hempstead and joined the MK Dons’ Academy when he was just 10 years old.

He showed how precocious he was at a young age and by the time he was just 13, he had already played for the Dons’ U18 side and was even training with the first team squad.

Ojo then joined Liverpool as a 14-year-old for a sizable fee of £2M and even then there were some other big clubs after the winger, with Chelsea one of the clubs who missed out on him.

Ojo came through the famous Liverpool Academy and made his debut for the Reds in January of last year.

He has so far played 13 times with one goal for the Liverpool first team but made only two appearances for the club last season.

It looks like Jurgen Klopp is also willing to accept the £10M offer from Newcastle so let’s hope Rafa persuasive powers can help get the deal done.

Ojo’s signing on a permanent basis would be little short of a coup for Newcastle – let’s hope it happens and happens soon too.

Would £10M For Sheyi Ojo Be A Good Deal For Newcastle?

I would like to think this is right, unfortunately more likely to be made up ,although we have been linked with him before……I wonder if we’re still after the other 258 players we’ve been linked with by media outlets worldwide

If this is true – is he as well as or instead of Murphy?

Ojo or Murphy, not sure which I’d prefer, both could be possible which would mean the Gouffs contract offer bring withdrawn.

Can’t see Ashley sanctioning a 10 million bid for a kid with no real first team experience and would probably be a full season away from being ready for the first team.

Ok Rafa, time for that rabbit out of ya hat we’ve been talking about for a while now. Striker for starters…. Chicharito or Batshitcrazy from Chelsea will do!
Of all he positions in question, I don’t fancy going into the PL season with Gayle (love him but not his hamstring), Mitro and little else up front.

Gouff looks like he’s going to Turkey, it looks like they have (or are) offering more favorable terms, I can’t believe there isn’t a championship team in for him, he was a transformed player in that league and could imho do a decent job for a couple of seasons .

Ojo, Murphy,Ritchie,Perez,Aaron’s Atsu Dejong and Gayle as an attacking threat, now that could cause problems for the opposition, all quick, intelligent or direct, some have all 3 categories, of Ojo in particular though, when brought on from the bench ,he has the ability to completely change a team and game dynamic, turning controlled possession or relatively static counters into sharp penetrating and dangerous moves……imho

Bit like the Gouff Spoof? Just carrying on Lord Hibbit’s poetry 😆
Well he certainly would appear to be a good fit for our left wing, then.

Must be some good chants/songs ready made for Ojo.

Announcing the squad, United commented that:

“Chancel Mbemba misses out due to a visa technicality….Emmanuel Riviere and Achraf Lazaar have remained on Tyneside, as has Tim Krul.

“And Adam Armstrong has also stayed in Newcastle, with a number of clubs interested in taking the England under-20 international on loan.”

Would really like both and even that Traore kid from Boro as his dribbling skills are immense. Any two of the three and that will mean our winger situation is finally solved after so many years with that position being one of our weakest areas.

This ‘move’ for Ojo looks like a tried and tested ploy to force either Norwich or Liverpool to part with either Ojo or Murphy but not both.

Would either one of the above be ahead of Atso and Ritchie ?
