Report – Sheyi Ojo To Decide Between Three Clubs For His Season Loan

We haven’t been too successful in persuading players to join Newcastle on loan for next season.

We missed out to Swansea for 19 year-old Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and then to Crystal Palace (what?) for 21 year-old Chelsea central midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The latest attempt we are making for a season loan deal is with 20 year-old Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo who has to choose between Fulham, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, according to Sky Sports News HQ.

Liverpool will want him to get plenty of playing time and that will be one of the factors weighing on his mind but recent reports suggest Sheyi is intrigued with the chance of playing in the Premier League with former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.

All three clubs are said to have agreed with the loan terms so now it’s up to the youngster to decide. With Fulham having joined Newcastle and Middlesbrough in

Fulham are the latest club to have agreed to the loan requirements so it depends now completely on Ojo.

We hope he will sign on for Newcastle, but you never know.

What do you think?

Go to Fulham or Boro, we need to be signing a striker (Not rolan) a DM, LB (cover / starter) rafa obviously wants a keeper, no10 needed as well

I wonder if Ojo were persuaded to join Middlesbrough, could that open a door for Rafa to bid for Traore?

Teams making moves now in this window, palace have wrapped up another signing, Ajax full back.

Hammers are moving to sign up arnautovic and Hernandez.

Hopefully we can get Murphy over the line as the medical hasn’t even taken place yet. The snail pace we go at needs to be picked up big time

I agree. I would be surprised if we are still actually interested in him anyway. With murphy signing imminent, we have enough wingers imo. Rolan looks decidedly average, so not sure who we should get instead.

I think this ship has sailed. Ritchie, Aarons, Atsu and Murphy, that’ll do nicely.
    OT,
Considering Rafa signed eleven players last year and Sels and Lazaar didn’t work out, a lack of injuries for the first time in a long long time meant Gamez didn’t feature much. Very unfair to bring up “some of the duds” he signed.

Unless he fails his medical the deals done. After all this effort he’d better not! 🙂 From what Rafa was saying about how he spends the money, I have a sneaky feeling we might see a big signing this window. If so, the savings made thus far will go a long way to securing it. I just hope it isn’t McCarthy personally. Not saying he can’t do a job for us, just that he’s not the stellar buy I’m hoping for. A big named striker would be nice.

Most of the reports on Ojo are now saying he has to chose between the two championship clubs.

    Mark,
Klippety must see us as direct competition if he’s not allowing Ojo here on loan ……I can see why,

We need to be signing some REAL quality or we’ll have a ready made squad for the championship the season after. The players we’re looking at of late (if true) are worrying.
MA has definitely talked to Rafa about the Regime.

Depends what Rafa’s strategy is. Beginning to think he’s building a creative midfield to distribute the ball to Spitfire like attacking pace players around them. If that’s the case then Ojo makes sense as we need a depth of cover and options in these positions. After this sort out the extra physical striker , CB and keeper decisions. Time will tell.

The problem for players like Ojo is that if by Christmas the clubs they are loaned to are out of the Championship race then their careers are in limbo, at least for the rest of the season. At Newcastle they should see some real action in the Premiership, Cup games, mega crowds, TV coverage , global exposure – all positives for their future plans.

With Ojo I think it’s more about playing time myself. Looking at our options out wide, he might struggle to get a game if our lads live up to expectations. In the Championship I think he’s almost guaranteed games and that’s why they go on loan in the first place. Rafa can’t guarantee him games, whereas Boro might be able to.
I said last season I liked the look of Traore and with better coaching he could be something else, but not at 20m, the price being bandied about. For a man with literally zero end product it’s too much of a gamble for me. Maybe 8-10 might be worth the risk but 20? No goals, no assists, just a proper speed machine who can dribble… would anybody gamble that much on him?

I think we need to have a better success rate in this window, especially with the likes of J Murphy who is untested at this level. Manquillo didn’t do well at all last season but he was playing for the worst side in the league.

We can’t afford to have to many mistakes in my opinion come this window

    Ryad Boudebouz – 13m

    Lewis Baker – Loan
Andrew Robertson or Jordan Amavi – 8m

The plot thickens I see, ok so which strikers would Newcastle go after that are not priced stupid like.
Theo Walcott is valued at 30 Million, so has anyone heard of a striker we can afford that would do a job in the premiership, what ever happened to Ings? Did he make any grade at Liverpool.

SHITE, looks like this is happening: MEDICAL FOR MANQUILLO
Sky sources understand Javier Manquillo is currently undergoing a medical with Newcastle at their training camp in Dublin.
The Spanish defender spent last season on loan at Sunderland from Atletico Madrid, but will sign a permanent deal at rivals Newcastle.

A better success rate than nine out of eleven. Fergie would have snapped your hand off for that.

We do need more than one right back. If we want Yedlin to be the starting one, then this lad makes sense as cover. we have no idea how he will perform. reserve judgement i say

Strange singing in my opinion, I thought Sterry might be brought through this season especially when he was brought on the summer camp. That’ll be 4 RB’s unless Gamez or Sterry go out on loan

    Manquillo as cover.
    What about Gamez ?

We signed three fullbacks last year at this time. Only one of them was a partial success.
