When Murphy Signs It’s 3 Players In And 9 Moved Out So Far – With A Low Net Spend

Newcastle have up to eight first team players to bring in this summer and a lot to move out but it’s looking like we will get our third player through the door today with Jacob Murphy flying in from Dusseldorf, Germany to complete his move.

Terms and a medical are not expected to be a difficulty and he should be announced as a Newcastle player either later today or tomorrow.

We will then have signed Christian Atsu, Florian Lejeune and Jacob for around £25M in total.

22 year-old Norwich winger Jacob Murphy expected to sign today or tomorrow

But Newcastle have also moved out some fringe players already with nine players now left the club or out on loan next season.

Adam Armstrong is going on loan next season to newly promoted Championship club Bolton Wanderers.

So here’s how we stand at the moment with only an estimate of the transfer fees.

It looks like we have a net spend so far this summer of £14M – still plenty of money to spend to get some good players through the door.

What do you think?

There are reports that we are still after gibbs, and that WBA are not willing to meet the 12M fee.
On a slightly related note, it’s becoming quite funny watching the melt down some fans have on twitter when a player who has been linked with us at any point signs, or even looks like signing, anywhere else. If this happens for every player we have been linked with, the streets will be overcrowded with wailing, drooling nutters 😀

I know, we’ve been linked with over 100 players, people complain about silly season, then get up in arms when we miss out on our “targets” it’s great to watch.

Rivierelinho – he must be in our top 3 of worst ever signings? A PL scorer due to his classic at QPR. Gives hope to the pub goer that anyone could score in the PL!

To be fair to Reviere, he is best as a second striker, he can hold the ball up well, is quite quick and has scored a few goals in other league.
He also works quite hard and gets in decent positions.
Any offers for him should be adressed to
    Penfold ,
    C.O Newcastle United,
    St James Park
    Newcastle.

Any offers over will be accepted

    http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/rafa-benitez-on-why-he-still-has-confidence-in-newcastle-owner-mike-ashley-and-his-transfer-pledge-1-8654618

Here’s a much better report on exactly what Rafa has been saying. If this doesn’t stop the flap, nothing will. He not only uses the word ‘hopefully’ for Ashley, but also for himself. He’s not even prepared to talk about leaving.

That is the usual transfer model used by Newcastle but with one big difference. In the past it was established first team players sold from under the Manager’s nose for profit whereas this is the sale of players who will not feature in Rafa’s plans and seem to be assisting the funding of buying players he wants.

I am cautiously optimistic but time will tell.
