Experienced Striker Agrees A Three Year Deal To Leave Newcastle

It looks like Daryl Murphy is ready to leave Newcastle and we thought it may have taken a bit longer for the former Ipswich and Sunderland striker to get a new club this summer.

But it looks like he’s agreed a deal with Nottingham Forest and the Irishman flew back to the UK yesterday – presumably to complete the deal.

The news about the £2M deal has been reported by Sky Sports.

Daryl Murphy – while at Newcastle

34-year-old Daryl Murphy has agreed a three year deal with Forest so he will be 37 when he comes to the end of his contract; it’s an excellent deal for Daryl and not a bad one for Newcastle either.

Daryl had shown he can score goals in the Championship if given the games and last season he scored six goals in just 18 appearances for Newcastle, mostly as a substitute.

Back in the 2014-2015 season while still at Ipswich he scored a good 27 goals in only 44 league appearances for the Tractor Boys.

He has joined up with Forest manager Mark Warburton as almost a direct replacement for  Britt Assombalonga, who was signed by Championship club Middlesbrough for a club record £15M only three days ago.

So Forest lost no time bringing in a replacement for just £2M.

This is an excellent deal for Daryl and he deserves it because he certainly was a first class professional in his year on Tyneside and we appreciate everything he did for Newcastle last season to get us promoted

With 17-year-old Newcastle defender Gibson almost ready to sign for Everton for £6M after Rafa accepted the Toffee’s bid we are starting to get some extra money to spend in this transfer window,

But in the case of Lewis, we’d be happier if he agreed a deal to stay at Newcastle.

What do you think?

Really pleased for big Murph. Comes across as a decent bloke. Hope he does well.. Can’t believe the makems didn’t go all out for him to be honest. Probably couldn’t afford him 🙂

So that’s why I had to go hunting for the blog, I found it eventually from the day before and just did next post till I got to the most current one.
To make it easier I just opened the main page and added it to my favorites and home screen, then I just have to look for most recent .

    This sounds familiar:-

“Following Wednesday’s friendly at Mansfield, reporting restrictions were placed on The Gazette.

“Our journalist Dominic Shaw was informed by Middlesbrough Football Club he was not welcome to interview manager Garry Monk.

“Another Gazette reporter was permitted to speak to Monk, but we decided not to publish that interview.

“As an independent publisher, we simply cannot allow any organisation to apply restrictions on our journalism by dictating which of our staff they are happy to field questions from.”

    Well said!

Just read the reason manquillo was dropped by Skeletor is that there was a 9.5m buy up option if he played 25 games, that and the fact he wasn’t playing well in that team.

Giimps, looks like we picked him up for half that fee as well, so another good piece of business. 🙂

gimps @4 – you don’t have to keep clicking ‘next post’ just go to the top of a page and click the title ‘The Newcastle United Blog’ – this always takes you to the home page.
On topic this is a hell of a deal for Murphy getting a 3 year contract at his age – just shows the power of players (especially a decent striker) in negotiations.

Jib, but the wages will be much further apart mate. We could increase Bad Dost’s wages I think, whereas someone coming from Chelski is going to be on silly wages. Like your line of thinking there.
