Daryl Murphy was with us for less than a year but we are thankful to him for helping Newcastle get promoted back to the Premier League.
His move to Nottingham Forest has been confirmed by the club and the news is the rumors are that he went for £2M on a good three-year contract.
This is what has been posted on the Newcastle website:
Forward Daryl Murphy has joined Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee.
The Irishman linked up with United a year ago, and found the net six times in 18 appearances.
All of Murphy’s goals for the Magpies came within a three-month spell between January and April, and included a crucial late winner at Brentford and an effort against his previous club, Ipswich Town.
The 34-year-old also notched his first international strike during his time at St. James’ Park, scoring for the Republic of Ireland against Serbia in September.
Everyone at Newcastle United would like to wish Daryl well for the future.
Daryl played 18 games for us and along with his six goals he had one assist too.
We wish Daryl all the very best in his future career.
Daryl is the 9th player to leave Newcastle this summer and the ninth one to leave permanently.
Note – I finally fixed the feed problem on the site so these articles are back on NewsNow – yes – it was thanks to Kacper Tylenda as usual – he certainly knows his stuff.
