Experienced Striker Leaves Newcastle After Less Than One Year

Daryl Murphy was with us for less than a year but we are thankful to him for helping Newcastle get promoted back to the Premier League.

His move to Nottingham Forest has been confirmed by the club and the news is the rumors are that he went for £2M on a good three-year contract.

This is what has been posted on the Newcastle website:

Forward Daryl Murphy has joined Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee.

The Irishman linked up with United a year ago, and found the net six times in 18 appearances.

All of Murphy’s goals for the Magpies came within a three-month spell between January and April, and included a crucial late winner at Brentford and an effort against his previous club, Ipswich Town.

The 34-year-old also notched his first international strike during his time at St. James’ Park, scoring for the Republic of Ireland against Serbia in September.

Everyone at Newcastle United would like to wish Daryl well for the future.

Daryl played 18 games for us and along with his six goals he had one assist too.

We wish Daryl all the very best in his future career.

Daryl is the 9th player to leave Newcastle this summer and the ninth one to leave permanently.

Comments welcome.

Note – I finally fixed the feed problem on the site so these articles are back on NewsNow – yes – it was thanks to Kacper Tylenda as usual – he certainly knows his stuff.

Good on him, excellent buy, done exactly what was asked of him, done the business and has left with his head held high and for a deal that will see him in to retirement very nicely.
    Disclaimer,
I was not suggesting we support Ashley but to get behind Rafa and the lads.

Good luck to big Murph. ..

    Repost;

I don’t expect any big money signings.
Just another middle class players like Diego Rolan,Sam Clucas,Gabriel Pirez & similar types as someone mentioned.
Danny Welbeck is a good shout or Lucas Perez on loan..
    Other member mentioned Temo Werner.

Pape Alioune Ndiaye the Senegalese midfielder who plays for Osmanlispor in Turkey has been chased by West Ham for weeks.
He’s in London , but not putting pen to paper while he talks to other PL clubs one of which is NUFC.
You heard of him Lilo ?

Well Rafa didn’t want a championship campaign with just Mitro and Gayle. And given Gayles injury problems, Mitro’s unreliability I doubt very much he wants to go in to the new season with just those two. I think he might have a nice surprise for us.

The danger of bringing in a marqué fancy dan signing in this window, is the disruption or disharmony it could bring to a squad that has had it’s team spirit carefully nurtured over a season.
At the moment our wage structure seems to be out of step with the PL
However I think Rafa is aware of that and trying to rectify it

Wonder if Mitro will still be a toon player in a fortnight?
I suspect not. It’s clear Rafa doesn’t want him. I have to say I’m surprised at the enduring love for him among our fans. His ‘connection’ with the fans has bought him a lot more patience than is afforded to other players in my opinion.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a free agent
He was on €11m at Man Yoo last season
    This time no fee involved
Offer him £18 m for a one year contract and make him the highest paid player in the Prem get Sports Direct just to sponsor him.
The publicity would make Mike wet his grundigs (budgiesmugglers if you will )

With Toon fans if they see a flash of “what could be” they buy into it.
HbA is a case in point
NUFC have had lots of “what if” players over the years

    Jib,
Has zlatan not just been through an operation for an acl or something and is out until after December, maybe go back in for him in January if he’s available ( although there will be plenty other teams he could choose from I would imagine)
