Is This The Striker Rafa Wants To SIgn Next For Newcastle?

The Chronicle are reporting that Rafa Benitez wants to sign a striker as the next player through the door. after the manager with the help of Lee Charnley completed their third and fourth signings of the summer this week – Jacob Murphy from Norwich and Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid.

That’s after the manager, with the help of Lee Charnley, completed their third and fourth signings of the summer this week – Jacob Murphy from Norwich and Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid.

Two good signings for around £15M initially.

There’s a little bit of a soap opera going on at the moment with Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan, who has met with Fulham twice relating to a transfer but he’s holding out on signing for the London club because he would prefer a move to a Premier League club.

Like Newcastle for example.

24-year-old Bordeaux forward Diego Rolan

Newcastle have been linked with this player for around three years now and for £5M in today crazy transfer market he would be worth that.

While he’s not a prolific goalscorer he’s a very good technical player with 24 full caps for Uruguay and we’re sure Rafa could make him into a better player at Newcastle.

Diego is also versatile and can play almost anywhere along the front line.

Newcastle have been linked with the 24-year-old this summer and it would be a very good time for Rafa to make a move for the player, because we’re pretty sure he would be delighted to sign for Newcastle.

Our opinion.

🙂

Bordeaux have agreed on the £5M fee with Fulham so it seems that Newcastle could get a very good addition to their side for what are peanuts in today’s transfer market.

We hope Rafa goes after Diego but he will also need to bring a top experienced striker this summer.

It’s looking like the Newcastle manager is willing to sell Aleksander Mitrovic if he can get around £16M for him, which is today’s transfer prices is quite cheap for Mitro.

What do you think?

If a Striker is the apparent next priority, who are the realistic options?

I think it will probably be a striker in the £15m to £20mil range (unless it is on loan). Also some experience of the premier league would be useful but not essential.

    Possible strikers could be:

Michy Batshuayi (on loan – but I think this is a long shot)
    Andre Gray
    Daniel Sturridge
    Alvaro Negredo
    Khouma Babacar
    Vincent Aboubakar

    What other strikers are available?

the main problem we have atm is that we don’t have a captain.. I have a feeling we’ll get reina for that role.. + Possibly Wilshire and 2 cfs (1 transfer and a loan signing – considering mitro will be sold)

Rolan seems to be in limbo at the moment. He isn’t in the Bordeaux training camp squad.

I dont know much about this lad other than he is very quick.

Seems to me that Rafa is intent on filling forward poaitions with young pacy players

    Rolan (if true)…..quick
    Murphy…..quick and creative
    Gayle….quick and a goalscorer
    Atsu…..quick and creative
    Aarons….quick
    Ritchie….quick creative and scores goals
    Yedlin…..quick
    Manquillo…..quick
    Dummett……quick

Che k the ages as well……young

We will use our 2 loan slots in last week of window. Could be someone like Welbeck.

Still think that we’ll end up signing McCarthy from Everton and loan for Chelsea striker or their young CM who played in U20 World Cup.

Thankfully Boro have done us a favour and are signing Randolph. He’s now found his right level and is nowhere near as good as Darlow.

I dont think we are in for any of those strikers. I wouldnt mind a crafty tenner on Torres for a season or two, if he is still out of contract from Atlectico.

Other options are Dost and Ings.

Not good enough in my opinion. If we sell Mitro then I hope we do have a top striker lined up because starting a Premiership season with only Gayle and Perez is worrying but I’m sure Rafa knows this!

I hope it will not be cast offs like Randolph and Adrian…
I won’t be disappointed if he signs Rolan though. Surely he won’t be worse other than an upgrade on Reviere.

There is not a cat in hells chance of getting Welbeck mate, either on loan or permanently. Same applies to those who tjink we will get Walcott or Wilshire.

    Dream on

To stay in the prem and get mid table we need to go all out for the below and break our transfer records!

    Batashuyai – £30m
    Carvalho – £35m
    Gibbs – £10m

Sell or release 7-8 more players like colback, saviet, Lazaar, haidara, riverie etc

    KILCLINE

Chelsea paid nigh on 30 million quid for Batashuyi. They will want at least that back.

Carvalho will go to a big team. We are not a big team.

Arsenal want 12 million plus for Gibbs. We currently have 3 left backs and have just signed another who can cover both sides.

Unfirtunately, we need to sell the dross before we can buy and like it or not, we cannot currently compete at tbe high end of the market.

I do agree with expat that we need to shift some players before we can buy. Also, agree that we can’t compete at the high end of the market.

Therefore I don’t think we have a chance of getting Das Bost because a massive transfer fee is being asked for. Ings could be a possibility but he has had a series of serious injuries which may mean he is not the same player he was before. Torres doesn’t seem to be able to finish off chances anymore.

There’s no chance we’re selling another 8 players unless we sign atleast another 6 which isnt going to happen. Sell Mitro, Krul, Hanley and Colback and bring in Batshuayi on loan with option to buy, Rolan, someone like Afriyie Acquah and another proven CB and I think we’d be more than ready for the Prem. As or Wilshire, the lads a talented player but also a walking sick note. Would be a huge risk to even bring him in on loan.

With Murphy gone and Goufran, who could and did play up front, we need two CF’s. If we get this Rolan in fairly cheaply we will still have plenty leftover for another more established Premier League striker.
I definitely think we will see Ritchie play in a more central position next season.
