Rafa Targets £10M Rated Brazilian Central Midfielder From Napoli

Rafa Benitez of Newcastle is interested in signing 26-year-old Napoli central midfielder Allan –  according to a report in the Sun today.

Two other Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the player (who stands 5ft 8ins tall)  and they are West Brom and Southampton.

The U20 Brazilian Youth International was signed by Napoli two years ago from Udinese after three years at the Bianconeri Friuliani – and he has since played 82 times for Naples based club with 4 goals and 12 assists.

He is rated at around £10M.

26-year-old defensive midfielder Allan of Napoli

The Sun is reporting that Rafa is very keen to sign this player for Newcastle and he is keen to get the talented Brazilian in as soon as possible – especially with two other English clubs also interested in the player.

Allan operates primarily as a defensive midfielder but he can also play in attacking midfield and can operate between defense and attack at will – so in the way he is a versatile player.

He normally plays in defensive midfield and has good ball-winning skills and he’s said to be a good technical player who is a good passer of the ball with good speed too.

Sounds good to us.

🙂

Allan has been a first team starter for Napoli for two seasons now and he would seem to be a great addition to the Newcastle side for £10M

Rafa Benitez thinks this player can adapt quickly to English football after being outstanding in Serie A.

Allan played for the Brazil Under-20s back in 2011 alongside Philippe Coutinho, Alex Sandro, Oscar, Casemiro, and Danilo when they won the U20 World Cup in Colombia and it was the fifth time the Brazilians have won that tournament.

That’s the tournament England won this summer for the first time when we beat Venezuela 1-0 in the final and had both Freddie Woodman and Adam Armstrong in the squad.

What do you think about Allan?

I would take him, but I think it will take more than 10M.

Jib, they have since then. Reading the champions in 2011/12 and Cardiff in 2012/13 were both relegated the next season.

Fabian Delph £11 million, Lucas Perez £17 million, Markovic £8 million and left back i’d throw one out there that hasn’t been mentioned Luke Shaw on loan paying a small fee to do so, obviously depends how things go but mourinho doesn’t fancy him. Last position we would need is out and out DM but not sure who could fill that role in terms of good value on the market who we can realistically attract, this guy may just be the ticket I will confess zero knowledge of this player i’ll have to do research. If this guy is £10 million then total spend £46-47 million for those 5 players and we’d be set to finish top 10.

Based on those figures provided by Ron, Toontime and Jib, I think 12th should be our target, which is certainly achievable once the squad is finished. Eleventh would be better as it’s always nice to beat a record now and then. 🙂 Who was it who finished twelfth lads? Please don’t say the mackems ha ha ha!!!

Best finish in the last 5 years was West Ham who finished 10th in 2011/12 and Palace who finished 11th in 2012/13 both having come up through the playoffs.

Rafa has just phoned the Sun back and told them they’ve got the wrong Brazilian. It’s Neymar he’s after.

Jack, in answer to your earlier question, if we do struggle this term and did get relegated, I think Ashley would still have to shoulder at least some significant responsibility, despite having backed the club well in the past you’d have to say by then 3 seasons, because it would still be in large part a legacy of our relegation in 2015/16, for which his policies were certainly largely responsible.

I don’t expect that to happen though. I think we’ll be fine this term under Rafa, and so long as he stays and Ashley continues to behave as he has over the past two seasons, then there’s little reason to think we won’t go on to consolidate our place comfortably as a consistent top ten finisher in this league, as it should be.

I actually don’t think that much has really changed. We still have a similar financial approach. We’ve just brought in a top coach and given him control over how the budget is spent.

We need Rafa to succeed though. For a club to “wipe it’s nose” and still be successful on the pitch, it needs to be well managed. Rafa must do well, and the next manager must be just as good.

Allan was bought by Napoli for about 11.5m euros. I don’t think Napoli is going to see for the same price they bought for.

The team that got credible draws against Man City and Liverpool and thrashed a very good Spurs team isn’t that much different to the team we have now except that the team spirit and togetherness has been greatly improved, if a disinterested Moussaka Sissoko is the difference between the two teams then we’ll be alright and of course more new a dition. People are seriously underestimating us and Rafa.

Missing out on Taylor must be a body blow to Rafa. A Prem experienced CB snapped up by yet another club whose owner’s showing more ambition than ours.

Come on Ashley, get a grip man! ?

It is very possible that the team line up against Spus might be very similar to the one that should have beaten Man City. The only three that can’t be played are Anita, Sissoko and Townsend. We have a specialised RB now in place of Anita, I’d have Shelvey in over Sissoko any day and we now have Murphy, Ritchie or Atsu in place of Townsend, if those three are the difference between us finishing 12th and being relegated then anyone of another 14 teams could also be relegated.

Allan needs to be signed up pronto- if he’s deemed to be the player Raf wants.
Southampton will be awash with cash if they sell Van Djik ( another one we missed out on ) to Chelsea which seems possible.
West Brom are less of a concern

Just done a bit of research and unless someone can correct me it looks like Palace finished eleventh following promotion in 2013, which is a bit of a surprise to me. Still, well done them, so that’s our target.
That said, more recently, as the Sky/prize money has increased substantially, teams have dropped to Toontime’s stated average of 16/17th.
Shows how big a difference money is making, which kind of cancels out us being a bigger club.
We do have Rafa though and that’s a real bonus.
I think if we can manage to match Palace’s eleventh place, it will be a far bigger achievement taking into account the difference in money.

We of course have the natural advantage of being the 7th or 8th largest club in England. If we are self sufficient, and well managed, shouldn’t that be where we should expect to consistently finish?

What I’m saying is that once Rafa had instilled his methods we became hard to beat and there will be new additions, I believe the team we have now is better than the one that got relegated and they were doing ok at the end.

Jail, it seems City have already spent nearly a quarter of a billion quid this season already, so you can’t possibly compare then to now. We may well turn out a similar side, but they certainly won’t! 🙂 Scary stuff.

Rafa will make us hard to beat aye but he cant stop individual errors which we struggle with, we have a young squad who are all still learning. I dont think our current squad is as good as the relegated one atm though, might be by the end of the window but so far am dubious

Jimmy, eventually yes, I agree we should, but this season we are starting from a huge disadvantage having just come up. The money we collect for winning the Championship is less than the team finishing 17th in the PL last season.

I think it’s important to get goals from midfield like Gini did but he never the ed up for away games. Hopefully Shelvey can add a few more goals to his game as that’s one area he’s seriously lacking.

Ritchie should chip in with a fair few, not seen alot of Murphy to pass judgement, I think the biggest player for us will be SDJ, if he can play that no10 role well then that’ll be a big cog in the jigsaw puzzle solved. I do have fitness concerns over him and Aaron’s though.

I think a few were discussing that stoke haven’t bought anyone which is true, they have got zouma on loan though and he’d easily slot into CB for us

Jail, that doesn’t make sense mate. You wouldn’t get Walker for five million, you’d get The Manikin. Walker cost that much more than the Manikin because he’s that much better.
You generally get what you pay for as a rule and though I agree that prices are out of control, it still doesn’t change the fact that the more you pay the better the player. There are exceptions, like Sissoko, but when talking about Walker I don’t get your point at all.
