Newcastle Fans Flock To Twitter To Discuss Possible Lucas Vasquez And Lucas Perez Signings

Newcastle has been linked with two top Spanish forwards this Sunday morning.

We have been linked with a possibility of getting Lucas Vasquez of Real Madrid on loan for the season and we have been linked also with Arsenal striker Lucas Perez.

We are said to be willing to bid £17M for Perez from Arsenal in a straight transfer.

The truth is we’d be lucky to sign either of these forwards who would certainly add to the class at Newcastle – but we do have Rafa Benitez and he could be a big draw for Spanish players.

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter this morning to discuss both these players with the general feeling being we’d be lucky to sign either player – but either one would be a good signing for us.

KK, that’s why Rafa gets five million a year and we don’t marra! 🙂 Look at Fraser Forster eg. It was a choice who to keep, him or Krul, so he was given a run out against Leeds in a pre season friendly. We were Sat right behind the goal at Elland Road, so had a great view of him. Big, powerful lad who’d had great reports and looked good in the second team.
A simple cross/shot comes in and he grabs it… only to fumble it and help it over the line.
Krul was playing really when then, so Forster was sold. In fairness, he did push for the sale himself because he wanted game time.
Had he not fumbled that, who knows where he might be now? Manager had to make a pick that in hindsight is easy to say he got wrong, but at the time we all pretty much thought he made the right choice.
As managers go, you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
Tough call right now and I’m glad it isn’t me making it. 🙂

“Mitrovic was the best player on the pitch,” said Mourinho. “He managed to keep the ball well and that was the key. That boy has everything to be a European star.”

‘He was named among the top 10 talents under the age of 19 in Europe, by a selection of European reporters and became Anderlecht’s record signing when they splashed out five million Euros for his services.

He was a success in Belgium, helping his side lift the Pro League title and Super Cup while scoring 36 goals in just 69 appearances.’

Strangely enough, he still lives up to that hype at International level.

Bit early to write him off just yet…

I think he has to be worth 20+ i hope he stays and this is his year to shine.

He was not cheap and will shoot up in value when he gets a good year in the epl behind him.

We need a new striker as it is and other players before letting him go .

Mitrovic was cheap. £12 million… that isn’t much at all. Championship strikers go for more than that.

Wonder if Rafa is interested in Perez or not? As strikers within our price range he pretty much ticks all the boxes imo and is only being kept out of the Arsenal side by quality players at the moment. He has the ability and that price makes him an attractive proposition imo. He is for sale and we’re in the market so if the interest is genuine we need to act quickly.
I understand he wants to go home, but Rafa speaks his language and that might be the difference between a yay or a nay.
    One to watch.

By nufc standards he was not cheap at all

Not for a unproven player who was expected to jump in at the deep end

We dont normaly pay that much for potentel.

    Ancient
Jon Dahl Tomasson springs to mind.
The reident Toon historian will say we got rid too early. He certainly went onto better things at Feyenoord and Milan. He was young when we parted company.
They were different times with Fat Freddy being. SpreadHeet Phil.
    Thanks for the craic.

I think Mitro will turn into a great CF during his career, as others have pointed out, his club and international record stands up against other big name strikers at the same age. The trouble we have is for £12m he’s a big price tag for our team and with that comes increased expectation and a lack of patience. The short term goal for us is to stay in the PL so Rafa would probably sell now for £12-15m so that money could be used for a more proven striker that could have an immediate impact.

Well from what I’ve read Perez to Deportivo is basically a done deal. So this is almost certainly bollocks.

Hes wanted to go back to them and looks to have been granted his wish

I read they have offered 10 million for him and hes worth that imho
I had hoped we could have tempted him with wages and game time but it seems its not to be..
