Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has just named his side for our fifth friendly of pre-season against Wolfsburg in Germany this afternoon.
After this, we have one more friendly next Sunday at home to Verona, and that will be our match practice before the Premier League kicks off the weekend after next.
We lost our first game of the preseason last Saturday at Mainz, and it would be terrific to get back to our winning ways.
Here is the team for this afternoon as just reported on the Newcastle United Twitter account.
Subs at Wolfsburg: Darlow, Gámez, Lascelles, Mbemba, Aarons, Colback, Merino, Murphy, De Jong, Diamé, Gayle.

Rafa is giving chances to some players today – and they include starters Javier Manquillo, Ayoxze Perez, Christian Atsu and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
We also expect there to be changes at half time as Rafa gives as many players as possible a run-out today.
It would be good to get the win this afternoon against the Bundesliga side.

Comment #2This is a game where De Jong needs to play.
He has pace to play with in a true wide man in Atsu. And we’ll have more control of the game with Shelvey playing.
Going to get frustrated is Perez tries too many first time flicks and loses possession.

Comment #4Basically our championship side.
Are Lejeune and Manquillo an improvement on what we had?

Comment #5Manquillo is probably starting because Yedlin didn’t travel (he has an injury) and he’s giving Mitro another chance so put Yedlin for Manquillo and Gayle for Mitro (assuming no injuries) and I reckon that is our starting eleven against Spurs.

Comment #8We should be all over signing Gibbs for 12-14M.
It’s an embarrassment that we’re not in for him.
He’s not a top 4 player but good enough for a top 6 team.

Comment #9Perez and mitro up top
Will we ever get to see gayle n mitro pair up together ??
They need mins together if they have any chance to gel . Perez does nowt for me but has improved a little and still has time.
De jong and gayle to start the second half ?
Merino to get a run out in midfield ??

Comment #15This is a tough game. I’d say they are ahead of us on paper.
I’d be happy with a good performance regardless of the result.
