Updates On The Changing Situation Of Newcastle Striker Target Lucas Perez

There have been more developments with the situation of Newcastle striker target 28-year-old Arsenal striker Lucas Perez.

GOAL reported yesterday that Perez has handed in an official transfer request at Arsenal to try to force the move.

The Gunners are said to have placed a fee of €15m on his head which is about £13.4M, so there’s no difference in the price that’s been reported over the last week or two.

Lucas Perez – submits transfer request to Arsenal

Deportivo has already made a bid for their former striker, and now there’s news from his agent that a second Spanish club Sevilla is interested in signing him.

This is what his representative Rodrigo Fernandez had to say:

“Two clubs in Spain have already contacted Perez for a transfer, Sevilla also wants to sign him, and a German team and Fenerbahce are negotiating to sign the player.”

There seem to be more clubs coming in for him which could be a problem for the Magpies.

But the news that both Sevilla and Deportivo was first reported almost two months ago in mid-June by his agent so it shouldn’t come as a surprise – but this saga is another one for Newcastle and it seems to be dragging on to some conclusion down the road.

We hope that conclusion is that Newcastle gets their man.

Arsenal signed Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna last summer for a fee of around £17M so he’s now£4M cheaper and he had a decent season when given the playing time last term.

He scored 7 goals and had 5 assists in the 21 appearances he made for the Gunners.

It remains to be seen whether these developments alter Newcastle’s stance in any way.

That position is to refuse to pay the £13.4M and instead try to get a season loan deal negotiated with Arsenal – presumably that contains an option to buy or an obligation to buy the player after he’s played a certain number of games for Newcastle.

We would hope that Newcastle can get a deal struck with Arsenal for Lucas Perez and sooner rather than later.

But Newcastle must become more decisive in the transfer market if we are to get some top players in during this last month of the window.

The more I see about the problems we are having in
completing this signing, the more I think it reflects
    some deep problems at NUFC.

Fair play to Perez handing in a transfer request – he
wants to play rather than sit on a bench.

I feel Lucas Pérez will join Rafa at terms best for NUFC.

Folk should give their heads a shake.

They complain about the deadwood and their outrageous contracts.

In the next breath , say , pay whatever Arsenal wants , and give a contract to a 29 year old , surplus to Wenger’s requirements !

I don’t think giving an unknown quantity a five year big money deal is great business but Lucas Perez is not an unknown quantity. If we wanted reasonably large wages I’d pay it if his fee is the 13.4 million quoted I’d pay it. If you consider asombalonga however you spell it went for 16 million.
I think people are just nevervous we won’t sign a quality striker and number 10 especially with the likes of Hernandez and iheanacho having been available.
I trust rafa to get it right.
I’d take any of Andre Gray, bas dost, Lucas Perez… anyone of proven quality that RAFA rates basically. I think he wants pace and accuracy given the hint we will play on the break a lot.
It makes sense given that Lejeune, manquillo, merino, shelvey and sdj can play long accurate balls forward.
It also explains why he may still want a winger. We will be using them a lot.

We call ourselves a big club yet we cant even boast the highest transfer in the north east this window and we are the only team in the prem from this area.. Its getting pathetic all this penny pinching shite.

    Mister Tuff
On yesterday and you getting upset and saying daft things. I thought we were just having friendly banter. I apologise because I didn’t realise you were still so sensitive about your baldness after all this time.
Anyway that aside I can only apologise and extend Bobbybee’s olive branch. I promise not to refer to your baldness in jest again and there will be no more bald coot jokes. Promise.
Have a good holiday when it comes.

IF, Rafa wants the player, just get the deal done!

Wenger is quoted as saying, “if he finds a satisfying solution at least for a short time, he will do it.”

Just negotiate a loan deal with an option to buy if all parties agree

To be honest, I don’t rate him that highly and at 28 he’s not exactly a spring chicken. However, he is a proven premiership striker and, if given the playing time, he’s shown he can both score and assist. On top of that, I think everyone would be hard pushed to name a striker as good or better for the same money. I’d prefer if he came as a loan with an option but I wouldn’t think it was a panic buy if we signed him permanently. Still gutted that we didn’t even enquire about Hernandez

See this is the thing Hernandez is no where near the player Perez is, Perez gets goals assists and links up play plus tracks back much more dynamic than Hernandez and honestly given a full season would far outshine the overrated Hernandez, who’s a selfish poacher in the box of average quality, so glad we didn’t get him

I find it amusing people justify Hernandez as a good deal at £17 mil and £140k a week wages yet in the same breath dismiss Perez, a player few months younger who is a better player for £3.6 mil less and half the wages, he’d be the steal of the window

If by proven Premier League goal scorer you mean he’s scored a goal in the Premier League, then yes. But it’s only one goal. In 11 appearances.

He’s had one good season and he’s on his way to 29.

This isn’t about penny pinching. It’s about not getting ripped off.

I mean, can anyone explain to me why people are getting so excited about this lad?

Also, £140k per week for Hernandez IS ridiculous, but if you think Perez is a better player, you should probably go and have a look at their career stats. Even Mitro’s are better than Perez’s and he’s six years younger.

Why do we have to have all this crap and Bullshit everytime we are linked with a player? If they are busy trying to sign a player there are always other clubs doing their best to screw us! 15 Mil is nothing for the likes of Chelski, Manure and the rest! Huge amounts of money are being spent on shite players by much smaller clubs and we are pissing around penny pinchimg! If it carries on like this? RAFA will be gone by Chrismas? Wat een CROC………..
