Newcastle Could Be In The Driver’s Seat With This Transfer Target

Newcastle seems to have switched their attentions from Arsenal striker Lucas Perez to the cheaper striker – Joselu.

Joselu has not had a good time of it with Stoke City over the last two years, but he has had a decent pre-season scoring four goals so far.

In any case, if Rafa thinks Joselu can do a job for us at Newcastle – then so be it.

Rafa must see things in the player that he can bring out at Newcastle and have Joselu be able to do a job for us next season.

With Joselu not having had the best of times at Stoke they could be willing to sell fairly quickly, and Newcastle may be in the driver’s seat on this one.

27-year-old Stoke striker Joselu

The 27-year-old  cost Stoke only £5.75M when he signed on from Bundesliga club Hannover 96 just two years ago you wouldn’t think he’s worth too much more than that now.

The fact that both strikers – Lucas Perez and Joselu – are Spanish tells us that Rafa thinks he can get his two countrymen playing a lot better at Newcastle with Rafa doing the coaching.

Rafa is one of the best managers in football, but we have struggled this summer to get the players in we wanted.

But we are short now of maybe only three players – one of whom is a goalkeeper and one a striker;  the other is probably a specialist left-back or playmaker.

We’d be relatively happy if we can sign goalkeeper Adrian from West Ham United (who is also Spanish) and Joselu or Perez for the striker position.

There again, maybe Rafa wants to sign both Perez and Joselu?

We also expected that Rafa would bring some Spanish players into the club and there’s nothing wrong with that.

We don’t really care where they come from as long as they are good and want to join Newcastle United – that’s the only requirements to be part of the Rafa revolution.

What do you think?

Ed…maybe you could write an editorial and explain what exactly all this fuss with newsnow is about.

Has it just to do with advertisement money? Most of us just type in the URL or bookmark your blog!

I agree I have not used NewsNow for your Blog Ed for some time preferring just to come straight here. Any roads the worry at the moment is that we are serious about signing Joselu. I can understand it from Charnleys viewpoint but can anyone explain it from ours. We can afford him so he must be good is Charnleys attitude but how is he better than what we have up front now?

When you look at our dynamic MD’s efforts in the transfer window after all the promises made to Rafa at the end of last season and in the early weeks of this window. We are trying to go back to the old formula how Ash runs his stores, buy cheap and flog at a higher price the only difference is that doing that at retail level does not get them relegated at the end of the season in football it does.

They are asking too much of the skills of Rafa and who could blame him if he is open to an approach by a club who keep their promises and will invest when he says invest. They have said that he is responsible for recruitment but of the names he has put forward the dwindler has let most slip through his fat little fingers he is in charge of Ash’s money and this way he keeps his well paid job but frustrates the fans and the best manager we have had since Sir Bob.

When someone looks like they are being successful and there is a danger of them asking for real money to buy real players the attitude comes if he is frustrated enough he will leave without compensation and blamed for the demise as he was in charge of recruitment Ash does it again.

I am almost positive I will be banned completely within the next few weeks by NewsNow – the errors they point out in the articles are laughable – minor at best.
So I am trying to allow readers to still follow us in the future – and then we’ll see how it goes over the next few weeks.
Thanks to everybody out there who is helping.
NewsNow is being heavy-handed about all of this and I have told them about my health situation.

Granted he’s younger, but is Joselu any better than Daryl Murphy?
I’m pretty confident that Rafa wouldn’t have let Murphs go to then replace him with someone who’s only benefit is that they have a bit more pace but a lot less experience.
Seems ridiculous that our most expensive recent purchases were to get us out of the Championship.

Ed, I’ve been using this blog since it started in 2007 and during those times I have never accessed this website via NewsNow. In fact, it’s the first tab on my PC, laptop, and phone, so whenever I open a browser the website loads.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about NewsNow, you have a solid community of people habitually checking the site, and I’m sure a solid community of lurkers who visit here without interaction.

Don’t stress about those guys, keep doing what you’ve done since the websites inception.

There will be a certain amount of traffic generated from Newsnow, but I reckon Ed will find out that it isn’t a copious amount. Most of the traffic that Ed has generated from his hard work over the years, will result in people being return readers – regardless of Newsnow. The blog will still show up in search engine news results, which is where the majority of news readers will stem from, that and social media.

As ‘Our Toon’ came up with, I would also be willing to pay a membership fee, voluntary or mandatory… I cannot speak for anybody else, but I am sure there would be plenty of others.

That’s ridiculous that they are maintaining there stance on this matter. I love this site, I’ve been following it for news about Newcastle for 4 years since I was 15 (reading it first in 2011). For what it’s worth Ed I’m super greatful that you created this blog because it’s been so helpful for me in terms of news regarding our club, or being able to chat in a friendly(ish) environment with people from Newcastle. Something I can’t do due to where I live. But whatever stance you take on this I’m happy to try and do my bit. You deserve it! I hope everything goes great with regards to your health!

beer…I would be disappointed if we sign most of the players we are being liked with…well those at least that are not wishful thinking 😉

Perez sound like a great option and should be within our means…but it seems we don’t really have money to spend, so I am not counting on much more!

…at least not until after the Spurs game!

Just been checking up on Joselu on stoke forums and in pre season, well he’s scored 4 goals in the last 2 games and in the last game he scored an absolute screamer I recommend to check it out. They think he should be the starting striker and rate him on oatcake forum big discussion going on regarding him

i don’t know whether we have funds and rafa is trying to juggle the wages budget to bring in the better player or 2
i would think if we release players it will take funds from his budget so he wont wanna do that, i just don’t know but then none of us do lol

but overall i am happy with who we have bought and looks like merino could be a real find
    long time till sept though
were an easy target for the press to say we want this person or that because we have needed players in most positions for years now
i take whats written in the press with a pinch of salt

With the net-spend sitting at around £7 million this far into the window, I think it is fair to say that the alleged bids of £20 million for Cairney & McCarthy were false reports.

There have been over 166 million views of this blog these Last ten-years.

That’s over 1.2 million a month on average, currently it’s more than treble that amount.

The more viewers who switch to the Face Book page, and/or follow the blog on Twitter, there will obviously an increase in the viewing figures.

There are numerous viewers of the blog who are not registered, I was one for many years. Using FB and/or Twitter is probably a more reliable indication of individual viewers.

Why do you think them bids where false mate ??
What do you know we dont .
Rafa may well be sitting there with a war kitty just waiting for value to show its face then we pounce.
We just dont know and it would be wrong of the club to say what we have.
Just because we have not spent it doesnt mean its not there.
