It’s a Sunday and just one week before the new Premier League season kicks off so you just knew there would be something controversial in this morning’s papers about Newcastle.
And yes it comes from the Mirror – that Rafa Benitez is unhappy at Newcastle because we have failed to get Stoke City striker Joselu across the line after a bid of ÂŁ12M (that’s a high bid from the Magpies) has been turned down by the Potters.
And supposedly Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley do not want to bring Andros Townsend back to Newcastle, and we all know Townsend is one of Rafa’s favorite players.
Take it all with a large pinch of salt – if it was a Tuesday I might be just a little bit worried – but it’s a Sunday!
🙂
A smiling Rafa Benitez
Anyway here are some comments the fans are making of the Mirror story –Â most think it’s hogwash.
It’s funny, all the media reports on these high expectations by #NUFC fans yet you never actually see the evidence of it, media-made myth.

It wouldn’t be a Sunday without some newspaper or journo spouting codshit about #NUFC or #RAFA #getarealstory it’s laughable now pic.twitter.com/8YVTLmjGGg

Why does the media always have negative views on #NUFC ? We won the league, our fans are amazing, Rafa is in charge, how’s that negative?

Apparently we will struggle because the players we have bought aren’t good enough so does that mean Rafa is not a good coach then ?#NUFC

I’m sure just over a week ago in NINE Bar, Rafa said he was happy with the way the transfer window was going now #NUFC

More news of Rafa leaving ? I’d be happy with Townsend back, but can’t see it. Also you’d think #nufc will be getting Woodman a new deal.

Must be something about a Sunday that makes journos go from bullshit to utter bullshit. Rafa ready to walk again is he. Give owa. #NUFC
— Karl Dawson (@dawson_karl) August 6, 2017
I hope it’s not the case but no one can say he’s being backed! Used him to get us back, now as we were… not good! #nufc #hope #rafa
— David William Tasker (@DavidWilliamTa1) August 6, 2017
St James Park should be called The White House and #NUFC fans should be named @realDonaldTrump, calling rumours on Rafa leaving ‘fake news’

Sunday rags at it again #rafa fuming and could walk..showdown talks again blah blah blah #nufc

Comment #2What frustrates me the most this Summer is the criticism of our squad and our buys. Yes, I really think we need to bring in a few more but I refuse to accept that Huddersfield and Brighton have had better windows than us like some people would have you believe.
Even looking at some of the clubs that were already in the league, have their signings been all the great?
I think we have a fantastic team spirit with some genuinely exciting players.

Comment #4I don’t believe the recent reports and don’t think the media have it in for us, Ashley has created this problem with the way he’s run the club. Unfortunately the circus is always around the corner with him at the helm hence the constant reporting of Rafa not being happy. It’ll take a while to replace that feeling

Nice to see you gauging nufc transfer window with teams like Brighton and Huddersfield
Because that’s exactly our level add Burnley Swansea west Brom and you have a nice mini league for the relegation places
2 top strikers another top ch and a playmaker and the level rises to mid to upper table but it ain’t going to happen with fatman in control
It’s only a matter of time before we lose our top manager he is too good for a team which lacks ambition
