Talented Spanish Star Reported Willing To Sign For Newcastle United

26-year-old Real Madrid and Spanish International forward Lucas Vasquez has been reported to be willing to sign for Newcastle United this summer.

But we wonder how much he would cost and what his wage demands will be?

Those are two things that Rafa Benitez in his program notes today for the Hellas Verona home game – has said are really frustrating him in this transfer window.

The news on Vasquez is in Spanish Sports magazine Don Balon.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle can afford the transfer fee or Vasquez’ wages.

But maybe an easier way forward would be to bring the lad in for a season loan with an option to buy him next May when Newcastle should be much better off financially.

That would seem to be the best way forward, and we would at least get a full season from the Spanish star this coming season.

Vasquez is 26 years old and joined Real Madrid ten years ago and came through their Academy; he’s broken through into the first team over the last two seasons.

In that time he has played 83 times with 8 goals for Real Madrid and last season he scored four goals in a total of 50 appearances in all competitions for the Champions League winners.

But if this player does become available there will obviously be some big clubs after him – so if Rafa is indeed interested in signing him, he would have to move very quickly.

Vasquez is an outstanding player who can play in different positions up front but usually plays on the right wing – he has 3 full Spanish caps.

He would be an excellent signing for Newcastle – on loan or permanently.

What do you think?

Mitro must have something about him as he seems to bang them in for Serbia against good defences, still has a very good reputation in Europe, scored goals for anderlecht in the CL including at Emirates against Arsenal.

He’s not set the world alight here but he’s 22 and nowhere near his prime.

Nice player…can he operate as a forward? Maybe a deep-lying forward, a trequartista or as a false nine?

…if not then wouldn’t the money be better spend elsewhere?

It’s not a case of can we afford Velasquez but will we afford him! Where there’s a will etc.

If Rafa’s got to rest Gayle to make a point to Ashley and/ or Barnes, it’s clear that they’re pi$$ing him about and not, not doing as Rafa asks them to do. Rafa may have control of transfers, he’s powerless unless Charnley’s authorised to complete deals.

If the party line becomes that they’re restricting major spend to make the club attractive to investors, when do those controls come off? They could remain in place forever as a way of making the club attractive to investors and so it could go on ad nauseum.

ToonTime in my opinion you are clueless but only time will tell no point going back and forth on here as you are not going to change my opinion and I won’t change yours. I think Rafa agrees with me and will ship him out first chance he gets (when cover is in) but let’s see how it plays out.

It would be daft for rafa to drop Gayle to prove a point today, Gayle needs minutes on the pitch to get fit, today was his last chance in a friendly before the first game of the season. Gayle must have knock or injury of some sort for him not to be involved at all.

I think this will be our starting line up next week

Atsu looks to be easily our quickest winger. Aarons with his extra mass added and injuries has seemingly lost a bit.

    .

Good to see that Sod’s law is still going strong in north London.
Having sold Walker for some crazy amount, Trippier picked up some sort of injury, leaving Spuds with an inexperienced RB as cover.
    Roll on next Sunday.

That true? Very good news for us if they’re struggling for a RB next weekend, especially given Atsu’s impressive pre-season.

    .

Mitro is a long way from the finished article as a CF at present. However Rafa might see him as an annoying distraction to defences, able to hold up the ball and lay off, who will score the odd goal, but who will enable the other goal scorers in the side, Murphy, Ritchie, Perez, Atsu, to cash in.

First half was a very enjoyable watch. Second half had it’s moments, but invariably disjointed due too all the subs.

    Bring on Spurs, can’t wait!

Ok, so if Gayle does have an injury, he’s rightly dropped as a precaution. In any event, we still haven’t signed the striker we need and I’ll continue to argue that Rafa’s being pi$$ed about. If cash is the problem, surely Ashley/ Barnes can inject some in the short term. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

Toontime fine by me. Mag 52 the problem is mitro hold up play is poor for a big lad he gets easily outmuscled by cbs and has a lazy touch. You need more than being an annoyance to lead the line for a perm club.

Murphy was hit and miss in that game. He’s always looking to be dangerous though which is a good sign. He’ll be subbed on next game I’d imagine. We actually have decent back up already. Diame in that central role looks fine and Merino will be challenging for a first team spot all season. Hayden looked fine at RB although I’d start Manquillo there because he actually looks really good. Not sure how he didn’t start for Sunderland. Atsu definitely to start, looks even better now, probably because hes settled here and knows he actually apart of this club rather then on loan. Lejeune is quality alongside Clark. Good looking partnership forming there. Ritchie looking decent in that number 10 role aswell.

As for this Vasquez rumour sounds too good to be true but I hope it is or even better would be Perez.

The passing ability in our team has certainly gone up a few notches. Made up with Atsu who has stepped his game up in this pre season. I still hold high hopes for Perez so I am hoping he can up his game this season.

Big worry for me is the no10 role. Diame is not good enough and at the moment Perez isn’t. De Jong is no doubt a classy player but i think he is too slow for the fast pace of the premier league. For me that’s the priority position closely followed by a striker. We are desperate for someone who can receive the ball in tight spaces and is comfortable.

Do you think a player needs to be quick to be successful in the PL? De Jong has a footballing brain, that counter acts lack of pace. Sissoko had plenty of pace but no footballing brain. Personally feel we have pace on the wings and at full back area when yedlin is fit.

The no10 position is a problem area though and the only suitable player we have for that role is SDJ.

I heard for one of the goals Mitro took 2 defenders with him which created the space for goal, he’s an alternative option which will give defenders something different to think about. If he stays I don’t mind and if he goes I’d want us to have already bought his replacement rather than gamble

People complaining about Mitro’s all round game? Gayle has far less of an all round game than Mitro, so if that is the benchmark. Atsu doesn’t look as good when Gayle plays because Gayle can’t provide that platform.

Mitro is far more involved in all round play than Gayle when he plays, and brings far more to the team as a group than Gayle, that’s why Mitro got 3 times the assists as Gayle in just over half the playing time. Only Shelvey, Perez and Ritchie got more assists than Mitro last year, and Mitro was comfortably the most prolific for assists per minute played.

The big question really is whether the added opportunities created when Mitro plays and the chances converted by those playing off him outweigh the additional goals that Gayle’s record would suggest he might score.
