This Is Good News From Rafa Benitez On Potential Big Newcastle Signing

News today in the Chronicle that Rafael Benitez has spoken one on one with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger about the potential transfer of Lucas Perez.

Wenger has admitted clearly that he didn’t give enough playing time to Lucas last season at Arsenal, but as we have already pointed out when Lucas did get a chance in 21 appearances for the Gunners, he scored 7 goals and had 5 assists so did well when he did actually play.

The meeting was face-to-face in London at the Premier League meeting which is taking place at the moment – so Rafa took the opportunity to speak directly to Arsene whom he both likes and respects as a man and a manager.

His former club Deportivo La Coruna seems to be the other club who really want to sign Perez, and they have already had a bid turned down – but it was nowhere near the £13.4M (€15M)
Arsene is looking for his Spanish striker.

This is what Rafa has said on BT Sport today:

“I was talking with Arsene yesterday because we had the managers’ meeting with the Premier League.”

“I said ‘listen, we have to talk’ and he said ‘do you have some money? Let me know’.”

“Obviously you like good players, but it’s too soon to talk about that.”

Perez is 28-years-old, and he would be a terrific signing for us if we can get him to the club.

We can see that left foot of his scoring a lot of goals for Newcastle next season, and it would be a tremendous lift for Newcastle fans if we can sign him this week.

The good relationship between Arsene and Rafa can help us to do just that.

    And your point is ??

Where does that implie that if you dont love ahsley your not a fan ??

I stand by my statement that there are posters on this blog who are not supporters of the club and only come on to stir the pot.

The blogs own Kim Jong-Un spouting his own loud version of the world from his keyboard, drumming up frightening visions of legions of ill-motivated faux fans who are hell bent on destroying the glorious state of proper fandom.

We’ve got nothing more on this blog than a healthy cross-section of views that at its extremes spell out doom or wax euphoric. I see nothing different to the match going fans, in fact in my old seat in gallowgate c I was surrounded by some right nuggets pre-relegation when we were beating the likes of Liverpool and Manchester united who didn’t have a good word to say about anything, and loads who kept getting up and disappearing for ages, leaving early etc and yes they were season ticket holders too.

Stop lecturing us on who has the right attitude and commitment you’re making a right noise for nothing.

Had to come back to add this. Shearer has once again been talking doom n gloom. He said Rafa would never sign. He did. He said he’d quit when we got relegated. He didn’t. He said he’d quit in January. He didn’t.
I love Shearer and he’ll always be a legend, but he does like to be controversial about us.
Anyway, he said he thinks Rafa will quit. This, despite Rafa saying he’s committed to both club and fans. The mind boggles. I don’t get it. So, talksport are going with Shearer’s version, despite having Rafa’s version straight from the horses mouth on record.
This is EXACTLY what Magspuggy was saying. People believe whatever suits them, not the facts. I rest our case your honour.

Striker situation as it is really is a genuine worry. It’s a fact that if we don’t suddenly pull a double figures striker out of some orifice we will have a hard time staying afloat.

your one of the biggest culprits you cherry pick the news to further your case you never take a balanced view you only see what you want to see unless it suits your agenda
i honestly don’t think you have a clue about the huge difference in the opinions expressed on here and what the city and the match going fans think
you have a motto and you stick to it …………ME………..MYSELF ……….and I
your not interest in others opinions if they don’t fit your agenda

magspuggy, the only negative press surrounding the club is in regards to Ashley. You implied negative connotations against people claiming to be Newcastle fans and recirculating that bad press.

There is no bad press surrounding Benitez or the players – or the club in general for that matter.

I am not even sure you can say people have been falling for the patter. The general jist going back to January was that Benitez was mugged off in regards to wanting to bring in a couple of players – which has turned out to be true.

I don’t recall the media say Benitez had decided to walk; they have only ever claimed he was unhappy, and considering his options etc. Judging by Benitez’ words, he seems committed at present, but I doubt he will be happy to stay long-term unless he receives more backing… as opposed to being disgruntled with the January window and unhappy with the way this present window has unfolded – in its entirety.

Tsunki, as you keep insisting, everybody has a right to say anything they want on here. If the cap fits, stick it on pal – and trust me, it fits perfectly.
You have every right to disagree – but then you would, wouldn’t you – but Runaway has just agreed. Go into the Toon and see how despondent people are. It’s buzzing for the season starting.
Like I say, disagree with a reasonable argument, but don’t tell anybody what they can or can’t post. It ain’t your blog big mouth. Get it? Not yours pal. Ours. All of us. You don’t dictate to anybody you clown. Nobody listens anymore to your spiteful bile.

I try to take a balanced view and have defended ashley at times, However, we are a club with 52000 home fans and an owner worth reservedly 2.4 Billion. Bournemouth get a home crowd of 11,000, yet have just signed Ake for 20M. Middlesboro have paid 8 figure sums in the championship. Yes 52000 does not make us a big club, but the dross of the last 10 years has bred a losing inferiority complex, where pride should exist.

Given the 2 relegations you would think Ash would finally tumble to the fact his penny pinching tactics and appointing ill equipped previous coaches have been a total false economy. Now finally we have a proper manager, you would think Ash would be doing all he could to help him. The mood music does not suggest this….clearly!

    Are yee mad.
The press runs a unhappy rafas going to walk story every week.

Today its because some folk look at the same interview and see bad and others see good.

He made a joke about not speaking a langauge today watch the rafas off to china stories turn up.

    Tsunki .

We have a good cross of views on here i agree but we also seem to be a beacon for fools who want nothing more than to spread doom and gloom.
I will counter it anyway i see fit.

that’s the point you cherry pick the press to get realistic picture that suits your agenda
you wont or don’t take into account the views of fans who live work go to games in the city because there views don’ fit your thinking
various ones on here have said that the views expressed on don’t match the the feeling in and around the city or in the ground. but you always try to turn it into a them and us situation ie your agenda

Rotondo, but Bournemouth have just received £100M+ from the prem…that’s the difference, not the fan base. We have next to no real effect on the monies going into a club anymore.
