Poll – How Will Newcastle Fare Against Tottenham?

The last time we played Tottenham at home in the Premier League was a year ago last May when we took them apart 5-1.

And even though we were down to 10 men after 69 minutes (Mitro was sent off) when the score was 2-1 in our favor we still went on to score three more goals and win the game 5-1.

That’s the good news from the past.

But as Rafa has said this will be an entirely different game and we will do well to get a point off Tottenham – one of the best teams in the Premier League these days.

But here we go again on a new Premier League season which kicks off tonight with Arsenal playing Leicester City.

Let us know how you think we will fare against Spurs on Sunday.

Surely the options in the poll should be
    lose by 1-2
    Lose by 2-4
    Lose by 5+
    Lol

    According to BBC Ceefax:
‘Spurs chairman Levy is battling pay crisis in wake of Danny Rose’s criticism of the club’s ambitions’ (Mirror).
‘Rose got a “heroes’ welcome” from the Spurs dressing room, with team-mates threatening to speak out’ (Sun).
‘Spurs stars are lining up toleave because of the club’s rigid pay structure’ (Mail).
‘Spurs top international winger, Moussa Sisoko, wants to move to a bigger club with ambitions to win CL, stating he has always been a Real Madrid fan’. (Toontaff’s BS column)

Seems it’s all about the money, money.
Spurs are so close to winning things, but the greedy mercenaries are all after a bigger pot of cash.
    Walker, Rose……………wonder who’ll be next?
Hopefully destabilised their preparations for their visit to SJP?

Mind there’s only 1 reliable source quoted. 😆

I cannot gauge how this team will do. I hope the fact we have pace will help massively, along with Lejeune who looks very accomplished.

I will stick my neck out here and give a shout out for SDJ to surprise a few bloggers.

Form is temporary, class is permanent…..

    (Fingers crossed)

    Shirebrook

I know it’s sounds familiar but he could be like a ‘New Signing’.

I posted on here couple months ago that I had a cracking conversation with a PSV fan when I was in Florida. He thought he was brilliant last season and they all wanted to keep him. He made it known it was a one season loan and had unfinished business in Neecastle.

Just needs to stay fit. The man has a great eye for a pass and if we get Perez !!!!

    Well let’s hope

    Cheers fella

It’s all just opinion Jail – formed on the facts as known
In the months following relegation there was talk of at least three consortiums buying Ashley out – two of them said Shearer could be retained.

Went to his villa in Portugal for 5 weeks that’s what !

    Away games on sky 🙂

United’s trips to Southampton and Burnley in October, as well as the away game against Manchester United in November, will all be broadcast live and have been rescheduled.
The Magpies’ game against Saints at St. Mary’s Stadium was originally scheduled for Saturday, 14th October at 3pm, but will now take place a day later, on Sunday, 15th October with kick-off set for 4pm. That fixture will be shown live on Sky Sports.
Rafa Benítez’s side’s trip to Turf Moor to take on Sean Dyche’s Clarets – which was initially due to take place on Saturday, 28th October at 3pm – has been put back to Monday, 30th October, and will now kick-off at 8pm in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
And the trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Saturday, 18th November at 3pm, but that game will now kick-off at 5.30pm on the same day and be shown live on BT Sport.

About Ed’s poll, I do think it would be more fitting if he divided the bottom finish in to two…I think most of have us finishing in the bottom half, but the interesting things is whether people think it will be at the top or the bottom part…

Not been negative but finishing 16th to 17th area is a very realistic position to finish next season, if we are plagued by injuries to key players relegation is almost inevitable. We’re a quality championship side with some good players but the premier league is full of good quality players. It’s going to be a tough season, be prepared.

Voted 17th as long as Rafa stays the season. I am surprised he is still here after this transfer window.

The players we have bought are all a gamble. Virtually no EPL experience between them. Manquillo being the most experienced and he was shocking for the Mackems.
Apart from Murphy I’m not convinced by the rest,
Rafa will no doubt have the team well organised and difficult to score against. It’s obvious to me that we have a bigger issue creating and scoring goals, which is why we’ll struggle all season.

Almost all the pundits have a victory for Spurs being a high scoring high flying team with some top class players whilst Newcastle are newly promoted with few top class players.

However, in ‘horses for courses’ Spurs tend to do badly at St James Park. Additionally, the first day of the season always throws up some unexpected results.

I believe we will be ‘more up for it’ than Spurs in wanting to make our mark, getting off to a good start and signal our return to the big time. This maybe the significant edge. Also, there seems to be some unrest in the Spurs dressing room. Whether that plays out on the field we don’t know.

    I’m going for a 2-1 to us.

Its going to be a hard season but we are a premier club . We have everything the big clubs have. We are too big for the championship and will prove it this season. We have made our mistakes and now have things in place to move forwards.

The giant is awake. In rafa we trust..

Everyone that finished outside the top 7 have barely anything to separate them. West Brom finished 10th! Honestly who would you have from last seasons West Brom squad that would better ours? Ben Foster maybe but that’s only a maybe. I think having Rafa in charge adds points straight off. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think that we’re gonna walk into the top 6 or 7 but I honestly don’t think we’re going to struggle. I think we’re better set up than most of the bottom half of last season, I would be surprised if we didn’t finish at least 14th

One of the biggest criticism the prior seasons when it comes to signings have been the lack of players coming in with PL experience…

…another criticism are the focus on only buying players with a potential re-sell value instead of focusing on what’s needed…having a balanced squad – this seems to have been a priority for Rafa though!

I am still a bit worried what will happen when we experience adversity…even when Rafa experience adversity!

I have every faith in Rafa’s choice of players but remember alot of his choices aren’t necessarily his first or even second choice, he’s having to make the best of a bad financial position.
