10 Changes – Darlow, Hanley, Gamez, Saivet, Sterry, Murphy, And Mitrovic All Start

Rafa Benitez has just named his team to play Nottingham Forest tonight in the second round of the League Cup, and as expected there are many changes from the side lost 1-0 at Huddersfield on Saturday.

There are 10 changes to the side, and Chancel Mbemba is the only player who played on Sunday.

Here’s the team as put out on the Newcastle United Twitter account.

Mark Warburton – Nottingham Forest manager

And Achraf Lazaar’s agent leaked the fact that Achraf would play for Newcastle this evening as the club try to move the Moroccan International on to another club.

He’s on the bench so may come on in the second half.
.

Almost two-thirds of Newcastle fans think we can win this game tonight.

Every week we ate losing about 280,000 pounds approx on dead wood players and this lies the problem. The following players are surplus and over a 10 week period that bill can run up to 2.8 million. I’d love to know if that’s part of the money available

    Hanley 30
    De Jong 60
    Lazaar 15
    Haidira 20
    Good 10
    Krul 40
    Rivi 35
    Colback 35
    Saviet 35

Then if you through in players who could easily he sold for better that’a another 195,000 pounds a week and 1.95 million over 10 weeks. This is the big problem rada has
    Diame 45
    Mbemba 35
    Mirtro 60
    Darlow 20
    Gamez 35

This seems to be where Mitro sits in Rafa’s pecking order. He gets a start in a cup game and possibly some minutes in league matches. Definitely not going to be in the first 11 until he shows more every time out. Perez should be in the same boat. Hopefully Hanley has a good game so we can move him on.

Would love if Rafa would just retire that god forsaken 4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1 formation all together

That’s a huge problem when you put it that way Fostino. And nothing done about it yet. Huge mistake, probably because we have an incompetent MD in Charnley.

A solid mix of Rafa’s Reservists and Rafa’s Rejects!
    Not quite the Deadwood 11!

But I am happy with the choice upfront and in goal…had hoped Rafa would have sticked to the first team core and tried a new face here and there…

I still can’t believe Rafa has put up with this bollocks all summer. Look at the dead wood we have. You could make a beaver dam out of it.

Possibly Rafa is trying to make a point to Ashley. Take a look at what your incompetence has done Ash. That sort of thing. Personally I think Ash is too thick to take the hint.

Glad to see sterry and barlaser start. Would have maybe preffered Findlay to start but can see why Hanley starts with his experience. Sterry has just came back from a long injury so hope he performs ok otherwise can see a few out with pitchforks!!

Think mitro is on a hiding to nothing tonight. Not going to get service from the centre and will heavily rely on the wingers. Glad to see him start or given minutes for that matter but with this team can only see him doing poorly and thus getting criticised.

Murphy looks much much better playing down the left side. Maybe Benitez will swap Murphy and Aarons around, give them back at crack at both wings. No disrespect to Aarons, but Murphy should be getting first dibs on that left flank.

    Hanley Good Lazaar
    Colback Diame Saivet
    Riviere De Jong
    Mitro,

Playing 2 keepers -try to bridge the leaks!

It is good to see Sterry getting a start. And Barlaser. And Mitro. But with Diame in there I can’t see much service for Mitro. Why not give De Jong a start? Or is he going to start vs. West Ham? Interesting to see what Saivet can do.

Murphy looked good sat. Nearly scored but for a last ditch tackle. I can see him scoring tonight. I think rolando will do well too.

The lb situation baffles me. I taught lazaar was ahead of haidira in the pecking order but yet it’s mbemba who played there sunday. Gamez is there tonight and now lazaar who had a holiday in Italy last week is on the bench. What the #uck is going on.

4-4-1-1. Defensive football at home? And yes I agree jesper mate. He thinks he can get away with this bollocks because he has Rafa to bail us out this season. But will Rafa stay even one season with this kind of behavior? It’s Kevin Keegan all over again.

Bobbybee – my post was a general joke post about the use of stfu and absolutely nothing to do with you/your lass/your mate/his lass or indeed anybody you know or even passed in the street.
Why you assumed it was is beyond me stop being so touchy and aggressive when something has nowt to do with you – if I wanted to direct something at you I would address it to you.

I think Lazaar is finished with us Fostino. As is Haidara. We need another 2 fullbacks in as cover. Especially if the Kenedy loan falls through as I expect it to with that meat head Charnley.

I reckon it will be gamez who starts lb but if not, it’ll be sterry. Think de Jong not being included even on the bench shows he’s not in rafas plans at all. Shame as he seems to have shown recently that he’s getting a bit of a free run from injuries. Would have definitely been worth a go. Not sure about saivet though? Is he playing from deeper or could he be playing #10 rather than diame.

Possibly the beaver dam 10 toontaff mate? Mitro still needs more playing time. And good service. Or why have him here on a high wage and pay a big fee for him in the first place. It really means Rafa doesn’t trust him and yet can’t get anything done about him, as with so many others left hanging aboot on relatively big wages in several cases. A complete and utter c*ckup.

You disappear for a season because the Championship is beneath your dignity

Then come back slagging off Rafa for the formation that basically won us the League.

Not sure about needing 2 more full backs in as cover. We’ve got yedlin and dummett injured (first choices) with manquillo, gamez and sterry. If needed, mbemba can play fb.

Would have kept Anita rather than sign manquillo and would rather take gamez out (sell or coaching role) and bring in a left footed lb (Rico Henry?)

Not sure we need to bring more in unless we change the ones we do have.

Amazed I got that many, almost went for Barlazer and Hanley and I half expected to see Diame in the line up but really hoped he wouldn’t be, so didn’t pick him.

Wonder if any of them will impress enough tonight to get a first team call up.

Is there a bit of parading of wares going on here?

If everything blows up at the end of the window and nothing more gets done I think there is a real possibility Rafa will do a Kevin Keegan even though it will cost him a fair bit of cash. It’s just not sane what Ashley is doing here. The man has lost too many brain cells from his drinking bouts. He needs serious psychiatric help.
