Our Man Of The Match Deserves To Start Against West Ham United

Newcastle’s best player last night was undoubtedly Rolando Aarons who looked like the player he’s threatened to be for some years, but he has been halted by some serious injuries.

Most Newcastle fans would be delighted if Rolando can stay fit and have a great season for us.

He’s always had the talent, and he’s so keen to do well at Newcastle, so we really hope he can stay fit and help Newcastle survive in the Premier League this season.

If we cannot sign say four good players in the next week, then this season has to be one of consolidation and there’s no way we can be relegated again after being down below last season.

In fact being relegated is one of the factors why we cannot even compete financially with mid-table clubs like Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, and Swansea in the transfer window this summer.

Rolando Aarons – excellent game last night

Aarons scored a brilliant goal last night and got 61% of the vote followed by our other goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic at 17%.

Next in line is Henri Saivet at 6% who again had a decent game last night for the Newcastle first team and worked his socks off for the cause.

Aarons came off injured in the second half, but Rafa said it was only cramp, and he should be OK for Saturday.

And while he may not start on Saturday against West Ham it’s a decent bet he’ll get a good run-out in the second half.

The game on Saturday is one we need to win before the long two-week International break which will be so gloomy if we lose for the fourth time running.

🙁

What do you think?

    Gayle – injury prone – to lightweight to play on his own in the Premiership.
    Joselu – looks soft – as weak as dishwater.

    Mitro proved himself in his first season in the Premiership scoring TEN goals not bad in a crap team on your debut season.

    if Mitro gets sold without getting anyone else in then RAFA should take a hard look at look at himself and his signings.

    Aaron’s

    Would like to see him down one wing Atsu down the other with Mitrovic and Perez or Gayle sitting off Mitro.

    But cannot see it with RAFA (one up front) Benitez

    Charlie… I couldn’t agree more. What has Mitro done to continue to be overlooked… It can’t be aggression as both rit his and Shelvey have the same issues.

    Tell him the first sign of losing control he’ll be embarrassingly booked off no matter how much times on the clock!

    I don’t know how the opinion is so so used on him… Everyone loved him until the manager started deriding him publicly.

    Can’t believe that Rafa would sell Mitro a physical goal scoring striker who wants passionately to wear the toon shirt and emulate his hero Shearer just to attempt to recoup £15m to allow the part purchase of a midfielder such as Wiltshire or Barkley who’s off to Spuds thank goodness by the look of things anyway.

    Nor is he likely to be kowtowing to Ashley and certainly not Charnley so these decisions seem to be with Rafa.

    Joselu is cover and not the main man surely as you need at least two strikers to compliment the lighter more agile Perez and Gayle of this world.

    Being a Bank holiday weekend lets make sure that Kenedy is in the shirt for tomorrow latest and ideally Reina
    and two or three others possibly Praet ( nick off Everton ) pdq.

    Where is Charnley today ? Do we know ? Do we know or is it Secret Squirrel time.

    Obviously it’s a hard market but to some point the following were achievable:
    * maguire
    * robertson
    * Walters
    * zouma
    * martins indi
    * perez

    A lot of pl experience there who have moved.

    Then the likes of Merino could be bedded in right. Throw him in at the deep end at our currently toxic club could ruin his entire career.

    I don’t buy this sell to buy crap. You buy on finance. And you reap the unrivalled sums you get from staying in the premier league. Our business model has us in this mess.

    I don’t know if anyone is wishing him to throw the towel in, I think most are trying willing him to work with what he’s got not have all work to him… He is being very inflexible with his tactics… Instead of working to player strengths he sticks rigidly to the same tactics… It’s starting to boils my pi$$… If he were to try something new I’d be happy I can’t see us staying up with whats currently happening and I predicted 9th in preseason because of the team spirit mainly… Guess I was wrong… Rafa seems to be buckling under pressure at the moment, but I certainly wouldn’t want him gone… Yet!!!

    When I say achievable I’m probably wrong in that they aren’t under our business model. Our business model is the route cause of all our problems. I think the fact we got and kept Rafa on lead us all to believe things would change and they haven’t. I for one feel more frustrated now because of the false hope than I ever have under Ashley. What’s going on is unacceptable but I have no choice but to accept it and be left in foul humour. Us fans deserve better. It’s not right.

    Mitro cost is £14m. Even if another team offers £14m for him. There is no way we can pick up a better striker for than money.

    The lad scored 10 in the prem last time. He’s young. He’s hungry and he’s never been given a fair run in the team.

    He has to stay and has to start getting game time.

    or is rafa expecting gayle to hold up the ball and lead the line?????

    LGFUAD21- as much as I love his passion. He ain’t a natural goalscorer as he misses too many chances. Having said that he did take his chance last night. But as always happens when he plays he goes missing for large parts of the match and is a ticking time bomb with his temper.

    In an ideal world we should keep him and loan him out for him to get valuable playing time and a long run in a good team in a strong league. And we should have a ready replacement like say Jovetic and then play them together when Mitro has returned from loan a proven player with more experience.

    Mitro was outstanding and showed he cared about the club. Something many of the current players clearly don’t.

    He is only 22, scored 10 goals in his first season in the premier league in a team that wasn’t creating chances and was getting relegated.

    The team ALWAYS plays better when he is on the field cause he brings the midfielders into play with his hold-up play.

    For club and country he has scored more goals than Shearer had at the same age.

    Rafa, you have to believe in Mitro and play him. If he is given a proper run of consecutive games and feels loved, he will deliver. Selling him will be one of the biggest mistakes this club has made in a decade.

    not sure everyone loved mitro. he was previously always looking like a red card waiting to happen, had zero pace to get away from defenders and missed a lot of sitters. on some days he looked completely disinterested. Only scoring 4 goals last season in the championship wasn’t great either. Can he come good?, maybe, but he has an awful lot to do to truly convince and be more than just a chest thumping badge kisser.

    He’s a striker, he needs more than a few cameos to make an impression regarding his 4 last year. It’s the impact he has, he’s a team player you just have to look at his passion when others score to see that he understands it’s a bigger picture and not all about him. Imo we play better when he’s on the pitch, it takes the pressure of the defenders and brings the midfield into more of the play.

    Is Aarons injured? If not, play him. Also mitrovic must get a proper run. Gayle ain’t working this time around.

    If we lose to West Ham it will be truly a crisis, not because of the points, it’s way too early, but because the team really looks dispirited and weak. Rafa informed them, publicly, that most aren’t good enough and must be shifted… Now he’s stuck with them and he must earn his 100k per week: lift a squad he doesn’t value.

    I think he must have a serious talk with MA, if he’s still committed and not just preparing the ground to walk unscathed.

    We needed and still need an overhaul, so we can compete, nothing more. That needed 50 million hasn’t gone away. The rewards are bigger than that. It would be pathetic to give up so early!

    Do you not think that Rafa would be wise enough for detail like that when taking the job… Remembering the ball was in his court and he held all the aces… I doubt there would be clauses like that in the contract but could be wrong.

    therein lies the problem. an ambitious manager who dreams of a great future and as he said, wasn’t looking for fortunes, eg Abraham on loan and then an owner who can’t get away quick enough, if only he could find a buyer who would pay an extortionate price for damaged goods.

    I can’t see how gayle can be so effective in the championship and not effective at all in premiership.

    I dont expect the same amount of goals but 10-15 should be realistic unless his hamstrings are made of paper.

    As for mitro, it seems clear Rafa don’t rate him (I do) but I am unsure if he can ever change Rafa’s mind even if gayle gets injured and he scores a bag full of goals.

    I do think of we lose Rafa we will crumble but the some of the things that irritated others last season is also getting to me a bit

    It is less physical in the PL which should suit Gayle but the defenders in the PL are quicker and better technically to deal with Gayle but he should still get double figures going on last season’s campaign… I think he should be more an impact player and got slated for staying as much last January when there where murmurings that teams where interested in him… My opinion was take a big offer before he loses some value in the PL… Looks like the bad hammy done that before we even got up to the PL.

    its getting to all of us one way or another
    its seems very obvious that Rafa had a plan which the club seemed to buy into by giving him a contract,
    but when he’s come to the point of implementing that plan the club failed to back him for what ever reason

    its a huge gamble to not back him at this stage but it seems that the club are prepared to take that risk
