Newcastle In Big Push To Get This Striker Through The Door

Former Manchester City striker and now Inter-Milan striker Stevan Jovetic is said to want a move to Spain after spending last season on loan at Sevilla, but reports in Italy say that Rafa has not given up on signing the striker.

The report is in Tuttomercatoweb.

Newcastle is said to be still trying to sign the 27-year-old Montenegro international and will make a new approach in the final week of the transfer window to try to get their man.

Certainly, we need another striker brought in, and goals have been hard to come by in the Premier League this season with only Dwight Gayle, Aleksandar Mitrovic and new signing Joselu at the club.

Inter-Milan striker Stevan Jovetic – wants move to Spain

The news was that when Newcastle made their first approach last week, Estadio Deportivo reported he rejected the approach.

Jovetic played in the Premier League with Manchester City and did not have a good time of it at City, and he is said to be hesitant to return to England.

And fellow promotion club Brighton and Hove Albion have also made an approach for Montenegro International.

It does seem to be that Jovetic will leave Inter-Milan in the next week but his choice is to move to Spain, so it looks like it may be difficult to get him to Newcastle.

We’ll have to rely on the persuasive powers of Rafa Benitez to try to get him to Tyneside.

And there only six days left in the transfer window, so time is starting to run out to get a fourth striker to the club.

    Re:
In fairness to Jib, he was trying to supply information that he gathered and might be worthy to discuss or look at.Why would you trying to take him down when he is behaving like good? I found Jib’s supply worth full than Lochinvar’s guffs.

Every blog needs a fcukwit like Jail – it keeps everyone grounded

Rafa saying that the players he is after haven’t been mentioned in the media yet got me musing
Jorginho the Brazilian/Italian midfielder who plays for Napoli was signed by Benitez originally.

He had a good start but found Rafa’s favoured 4-2-3-1 hard to get his head round.

He has come back into favour with Rafa’s successor at Napoli , Maurizio Sarri.

One interesting fact is , his contract is owned jointly by Napoli and Hellas Verona (his previous club)

As I say , just musing , ahead of next weeks transfer window mayhem.

    Munster,
Considering we sold or let go three of our five fit defenders last year I think Rafa done pretty well to cobble together the joint best defence in the division. Certainly deserves better than to point out his plenty of outright fails.

Ah Veltman – the Reina link with PSG is reported in the press this morning so some light heated guff on the merits of Agents is no more than a Ed style prompt to determine if there’s any truth in those rumours. Let’s be thankful we have the all knowledgeable Jib to keep us right !
Interesting to see that Gamez, Reina and Rafa are all with the same Agent. Let’s hope he’s got some decent players that we can sign.

Jovetic, Mitrovic and Joselu would be a great collection of strikers to have. Praet too, and Kenedy. Wonderful, to go along with the business we’ve already done. I do think time has run out though for us to get a squad that Rafa will be remotely satisfied with. Wishful thinking surely now to imagine we can move out 3 to 6, and bring in 3 top additions in the six days remaining.

Jail he made useless signings and his strike rate is average at best, particularly of unknown players. Lazaar crap, sels a joke, hanly never impressed, Spanish full back last year, crap. Manquillo looks crap too so far, positionally anyway. That said, merino will be v good
