Joselu And Mbemba Both Start Against West Ham United

Rafa Benitez has just named his side for the tough game against West Ham United this afternoon where Newcastle will be trying to get their first win of the season after three defeats in a row.

🙁

Here’s the side as put out on the Newcastle United twitter account.

With Lejeune not being fit, Rafa keeps with the same defense that played last weekend at Huddersfield in the 1-0 defeat.

And with Dwight Gayle being sick Joselu starts up front for Newcastle in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Merino and Hayden again the two central midfield players in Shelvey’s absence through suspension.

Only about one in three fans think we can win this game this afternoon and almost half believe we will lose again.

Good to see Woodman on the bench. Next stop, number 1 spot.

    Makeshift defence
    Makeshift midfield
    Ho-hum attack

    What could possibly go wrong?

Consider Elliot’s proneness to pick up injuries, we may just see Woodman sooner rather than later.

I am busy reading ‘Touching Distance when we so nearly won the title. Great book with so many insights.

Keegan keeps going on about ‘momentum’….How important this club is and once it gets going it’s like an unstoppable ship that just needs steering ‘

Little bit different to Ashleys vision of having a cart and just needed the horse !

    Speaks volumes.

I am going for a 2-1 Toon Joselu to score

And this is why I get annoyed at people who sing the praise of Benitez like he’s some god send.

‘Oh he’s the best we could have right now’.

Fact is we’ve lost our first 3 games, any other manager couldn’t of done any worse and maybe they would try changing something. Manquillo & Perez are still playing & no Mitrovic.

    Embarrassing.

Wonder if Gayle is ill, or maybe he is just not ready for the prem. I’m also going for a 2-1 Toon win, Just hope we score first and keep the pressure on them.

    Gayle is ill

    Darlow has a knock.

But why is Mitro benched? At least we’ll get to see what Joselu can do.

I would like to see us play more in their half and control the game today… They don’t really have any standouts starting and they’ve also flooded the midfield with 5… Wet Sham look like they are setting out not to lose today!

    Catchy

The 2 centre halfs today would nullify him probs, ogbonna is very quick but he will struggle with a bit of muscle, hopefully Joselu can make think twice if he fancies putting it about today!

God afternoon lads! I have a little time here on the hospital so I thought I might check up on things ?

So Hoosy Loo on top today…let’s hope he can score cause I just don’t get why Mitro is benched…well Rafa didn’t buy Mitro so that explains it to some degree…

I had hoped Aaron would start on the left today and Atsu would be benched…but beside this it’s more or less what you could expect!

I won’t be watching the game but will check up from time to time if it’s possible ?

Enjoy the game and lets hope for a win!

That was harsh on Bournmouth, sucker punched at the death by Sterling who subsequently is sent off due to going into the crowd to celebrate lol I guess it’s a good result for us. We need every bit of help we can get.

It wasnt a dirty game and didnt warrant 10 bookings and a sending off in my opinion.

On our game…….I cannot see where the goals are going to come from in thjs line up. Mitro and Aarons should have started

To be fair, Mitrovic is wasted doing dogs work and chasing the ball around on his own. Bring Mitrovic on if a goal is needed, by which point, the side will be attacking more anyway.

Expatmag- yeah i would have like to see Aarons start ahead of Atsu today. Joselu maybe has been impressing in training. Maybe it works to our advantage if Mitro comes off the bench all fired up to prove a point to Rafa.

Antonio is going to be a real handful for our defense with his strength. Hernandez is class, quick and tricky so we really need to be on the ball for this one. Not really confident we’ll win but we could nick a draw and that would probably be a good result considering where we are atm.
