Alan Shearer Reacts To Newcastle’s First Win As We Rip Hammers Apart 3-0

Alan Shearer was delighted with Newcastle’s first win of the season – like any other Newcastle fan.

It was only one game, but yesterday’s display by Newcastle was very satisfying as every player on the team worked their socks off for the cause and the brilliance of manager Rafa Benitez started to show through.

The team was compact and closed down West Ham players at every opportunity and it could been more than three goals if we had taken more of those chances we created in the second half.

We also saw some excellent performance from some of our new players particularly from Mikel Merino – who looks a real star in the making, and Joselu up front was impressive looked a typical target center-forward and scored his first goal for the club after 36 minutes to put us ahead.

We certainly feel a lot better after the game than we did before the game because it shows that Rafa can take the players he has, and use the best of their abilities to create a good side.

But Mike Ashley now has to come through and help Rafa and Lee Charnley get some new players through the door in the next four days of this transfer window.

Just seen the Nitro incident (Mitro) on match of the day… Why man !

Is it any wonder Rafa doesn’t always believe in him. He is always a few moments from a red card.

He will get banned for this and the pundits don’t help. Takes the gloss off an otherwise great day.

More like does not rate him as he cannot be lenient with Shelvey and not with Mitro.

Me – unless RAFA has got another replacement lined up – I would keep him till the winter transfer window as I think we could be short up-top with only Joselu.

As I cannot see Gayle getting back into the team.
Yesterday is what I have been crying out for you cannot play Gayle and Perez together in the in the same team in the Premiership – to lightweight.

Overall much more fluid performance loads of movement done at a far quicker tempo with a lot more forward passes. Thought all played well

    hibbit,
He’s definitely getting banned for three games. Just Googled it and news outlets are reporting on it. The ref will almost certainly look at it again and report it to the FA whether or not it was on MotD the West Ham players told the ref he’d been elbowed. Why does he do it, he’d only been on the pitch for six minutes. It’s got nothing to do with curbing his aggression it was just plain stupid.

    From the BBC website today:

“Manager Rafael Benitez, who guided them back to the promised land, suggested this week that he does not plan to stay at the Magpies for too long.”

    Hope that’s just Rafa’s gamesmanship!

So if another striker is bought or Gayle comes in and does alright while “Mitro” sits out his ban and can’t get back in the team will we have the usual bunch saying Rafa is clueless as he’s not giving him a chance.

    Ron,
There’s a few different outlets saying that, I think it’s from his project comments. If it is gamesmanship, unfortunately it’s not going to work on Ashley. He’ll be glad to see the back of him, 5M a year and getting publicly called out for what he is all the time.

Read this article and no where does it suggest he is walking. Just headline making.

Rafa is speaking in his second language and he is merely pointing varying timescales and some countries you don’t have projects.

When Rafa comes out and stayed ‘I am leaving (and gives a reason) I will take notice. All this is journo’s trying to create ANOTHER negative story about our club.

    Take a look for yourselves
