Newcastle Still In With Decent Chance Of Signing This Class Striker

The Mirror is reporting there is a strange situation that exists with the possible transfer of Steven Jovetic from Inter-Milan to Newcastle.

It seems that Steven would prefer a move to Sevilla in Spain where he was on loan last season but Newcastle have bid £12M for the player whereas the Spanish club have only bid £10M.

Since money is everything in football these days, Inter would prefer that Jovetic move to Newcastle because they will then get an extra £2M.

The other interesting thing is that we assume his agent will get more money if he moves to Newcastle so maybe his agent will try to persuade his client to join Newcastle in the final few days of the transfer window.

And we’re also sure Rafa will be on the phone trying to persuade the 46 times capped Montenegro International (23 goals) to join him on Tyneside.

However, the other problem we have is that Jovetic is on a massive £90K/week wages, and that could also scupper the deal – but we wonder if Sevilla can afford those wages?

Steven Jovetic – within reach of Newcastle

Jovetic hasn’t had a good time of it since he joined Inter from Manchester City last summer after spending the previous season on loan there.

He’s played only 32 games for Inter with 7 goals and 4 assists but last season was on loan to Sevilla where he played 22 games with 7 goals and 5 assists.

It seems this one could be a difficult to pull off, but Newcastle are still in with a chance of getting the player.

Jovetic has the quality that Rafa is looking for in his side, and maybe Newcastle have to start paying out those wages to get outstanding players into the club?

Do you think Mikey and Churnley might squeam a bit if Abrahams bags fifteen in a bottom four Swansea side.

Will Mitro’s impending suspension for his latest display of stupidity follow him to a foreign league?
Could be another obstacle to him being sold.

But that was his last chance at Newcastle surely.

    On Rafa

Even if WHU sack Bilic, why would he leave now with only 4 days of the transfer window open?

After professing his love for the club, the city and the fans, he would be looked upon as nothing short of a hypocrite. I dont see him that way so I expect him to see out his 3 year contract.

    On the game

The players were up for it and got the basics right. However, West Ham are one of the worst sides I have seen in the premiership and we wont get nany more easier games than that, if any thhs season

    Great day, yesterday!
    Sun oot, Toon flying!
    Even Mitro’s silly momentain’tspoiling it!
Nor the Sunday Special episode 999 of ‘Rafa’s Walking’!
Manquillo looked suspect, second-half, out of position and Elliot’s kicking is poor.
Joselu was very good – G2 will be even more in love with Hoselooooooo!
Merino has to be MoM – Shelvey may struggle to get back in, though will want to give Jacko9’s boyos a going over!

I fully expect a lot of movement on the transfer front

    Out……Dejong, Krul, Lazaars, Mitrovic (possibly).

In………Remy, Argentinian left back, a surprise no.10, not Jovetic

Old ashley really doesn’t like someone standing up to him like Rafa is does he!
So used to compliant unambitious yes men.
Ashley is a serial liar as has been proved time and again and if you had to choose who to believe between him and Rafa, then no contest.

What about Mitro, the smallest brain in football at times, close call btween him and Shelvey, but a wonderfully taken goal actually having the composure to go round the keeper. go figure.

I get the love for Merino but even he said he’s not the finished product and he still got caught a few times in key areas.

Big surprise in how few votes Clark got considering he was mainly responsible for locking the door and even scoring one. Vastly underrated performance by one of our top bargain buys.

As I said yesterday, I’m one of those massively disappointed by Mitro, but he had a big impact and killed the game mercilessly, rounding “England’s” Joe Hart ha ha. I’d like to add his psychopathic leanings to that critics list though. That’s two, potentially three game-ruiners we have. Not good.

I would rake Long all day long (pardon the pun).

Neither Jovetic or Lucas Perez want to be at Newcastle so leave well alone. This season is about signing hungry players who want to play for us and not prima donnas who look upon us as a last resort

What we do in the next four days will define our season for sure.

I think Rafa has played a blinder for sure…everyone has presumed we’re looking for a striker to replace Mitro but it looks like we’re looking for one to replace Gayle.

Mitro hardly ever got a start for the toon last year but just about every time he went on international duty he scored.

He’s as mad a box of frogs but there’s doubt Mitro will be useful for us this year if we keep him.

I think Rafa has A blinding player up his sleeve that will help gell all this together and all will be revealed shortly

Yes I agree about Clark. Possibly under different circumstances he would have got MoM because of two individual actions in firstly preventing a certain goal and then secondly scoring which effectively guaranteed us three points.

Yesterday was one of those all too rare occasions when the whole team played exceptionally well. It’s quite difficult to single out any one player but my choice was Merino. Notwithstanding his skills, tenacity, mobility and vision but he is only 21 and new to this league which must be faster and tougher than he has previously been used to.

Benitez now has a problem which will be interesting to see how he resolves it as Merino and Hayden deservedly should start the next game even though Shelvey is out jail.

I see tagliafico is referred to as ‘el pitbull’ by one media outlet. Good! Maybe it was because West ham could be rattled but I really like the way rafa pressed them high up the pitch. Fair play because I’m quick to moan that his teams play too deep in an effort to stay compact. Re team formation earlier I can’t see rafa playing shelvey at 10. Don’t think it’s his best use anyway. Also hard to see rafa going with a two man central midfield of merino and shelvey. I can see Hayden becoming a really good player over the next 3 years. Merino, serious man love from me. Great signing. Also nobody is mentioning Perez’s pass for mitro goal. Brilliant.

    Expat.

I thought he was wanted by us to play as an attacking left back / wing back. Could be wrong like lol.

I like Dummet as a defender but he’s tragic when we’re going forward…he hates the ball and passes backwards or square.
