The Mirror is reporting there is a strange situation that exists with the possible transfer of Steven Jovetic from Inter-Milan to Newcastle.
It seems that Steven would prefer a move to Sevilla in Spain where he was on loan last season but Newcastle have bid £12M for the player whereas the Spanish club have only bid £10M.
Since money is everything in football these days, Inter would prefer that Jovetic move to Newcastle because they will then get an extra £2M.
The other interesting thing is that we assume his agent will get more money if he moves to Newcastle so maybe his agent will try to persuade his client to join Newcastle in the final few days of the transfer window.
And we’re also sure Rafa will be on the phone trying to persuade the 46 times capped Montenegro International (23 goals) to join him on Tyneside.
However, the other problem we have is that Jovetic is on a massive £90K/week wages, and that could also scupper the deal – but we wonder if Sevilla can afford those wages?
Steven Jovetic – within reach of Newcastle
Jovetic hasn’t had a good time of it since he joined Inter from Manchester City last summer after spending the previous season on loan there.
He’s played only 32 games for Inter with 7 goals and 4 assists but last season was on loan to Sevilla where he played 22 games with 7 goals and 5 assists.
It seems this one could be a difficult to pull off, but Newcastle are still in with a chance of getting the player.
Jovetic has the quality that Rafa is looking for in his side, and maybe Newcastle have to start paying out those wages to get outstanding players into the club?
What do you think?

You can see why Benitez may want to get rid of him.
They only good thing is that we were winning at the time and the officials didn’t spot it. In other circumstances (a la Shelvey) we could lose a game because of indiscipline.

Comment #83Slank, I like the guy. I love his passion and his commitment but Rafa doesn’t seem to like him and that behaviour won’t endear him to him either. It’s just so unnecessary and utterly pointless.
If he gets a ban – which he will knowing their love for us – then I think he’ll be gone. I can’t see why he’d keep getting any more chances.

Many players have passion and commitment but thankfully don’t have absolute stupidly.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he first arrived in the UK with his over eager exuberance but he has been here over 12 month and must surely have taken note of post match televised judge and jury analysis but also words in his shell like from his manager.

Comment #86many reasons why the top 5 on the MOM poll could have got it,
Atsu had the beaten of zabaleta all day
Mbemba gave a great display at LB
Clark was scored and stopped a goal
Ritchie was tieless and selfless all day
merino tackled and drove the team forward, used intelligence to spray the ball about where it was best needed,
but others like perez Joselu hayden and even mitro had great games
i gave my MOM to Mbemba like last week, showed what a true professional he is, out in the cold for so long, never once complained, gives 2 great performances in a strange position and makes many on here question whether Dummett should get back in the team.

Comment #87In Mitro I don’t even see passion really, not saying he doesn’t have any just nothing outside the norm. When he scores or somebody else sure he tends to get a little bit overexcited compared to most.
Playing angry for 5 mins in fits and starts /= passion, especially when he’s just as prone to looking disinterested for 5 min intervals – he’s just a volatile personality which shouldn’t be mistaken for passion.
Right now though the system we play and our approach to matches requires a target man as shown yesterday, it enhanced everybody else. Joselu has the shirt, but MItro is also compatible with the style of play which helped yesterday as when Joselu had ran out of steam Mitro came on like for like. For that reason I wouldn’t sell MItro right now unless £15m+ bid was made and we had another similar player line up.
Ritchie – now there is passion personified.

Comment #89Nice to see a player start to realise his apparent potential. Mbemba seems versatile, and apparently is following instruction and applying himself in whatever position he is picked in, which was allegedly a problem last season. Good on him.

Comment #90Anyone got a link to a slo-mo of the Mitrovic “elbow”? I can only find one clip from a foreign site, but from what I’ve seen, Mitrovic never took his eye off the ball and it looked like an attempted shoulder barge. Did he even make contact? The ref seemed well placed and deemed no action was necessary, and there were zero protests from West Ham players (barring Lanzini, obviously). Even Bilic played it down post match.

Comment #93I think manquillo shoukd be given mote games, preferably from the bench. See if he can play himself into some good form. It is too soon to be giving up completely on new players.

Agreed. It’s been a little sad to see what has become of them over the last 10 years or so. I actually hope they can raise themselves to win one of these last 2 tests.

Comment #97Got nee voice left today sang myself dry.
Other than the mitro madness there is so much we can take as good from the game.
We chased them down an gave them no time. Fast on the break and rafa got the tactics spot on. West spam for me are going to go down unless something changes for them.
How do you solve a problem like mitro ? If the gaffa rated him it could be trained out of him and he will get it right more often than not. I dont think rafa rates him and on a day when his goal would have gave him a chance to build bridges he does what is utter madness and will get a ban for it. Sell him for our money back and use it to buy a striker who rafa wants ?
C?ark is my mom but it could have been anyone of 5/6 players. All the new lads looked great and manquillo was a good buy he just needs support from midfield and ritchie left him exposed later on. Ritchie ran his heart out as did hayden. Cant wait to see what jonjo nd merino can do together but i would not bring jonjo back against the jacks for good reasons he has to earn the shirt and today his replacement did so he can sit and wait it out for me.

I don’t think they can.
It’s not like citing a player in the 2 rugby codes.

If the ref saw it and deemed no foul then that’s the end of it.
The refs report wouldn’t log incidents he didn’t see for obvious reasons but I guess the FA might ask that question of the ref and if he claims ignorance the FA might look at it but could only act if there was very clear evidence of serious injury etc .
They should be busy looking at Man a City failing to control their players which is the main concern for them.
