Rafa’s Ruthless Streak Likely To Show With Players Not Moved Out By Friday

Newcastle are still trying to move out some players who are surplus to requirements the last few windows of this transfer, and there are still eight players to move out.

Those players are Tim Krul, Henri Saivet, Siem de Jong, Grant Hanley, Jack Colback, Sadio Haidara, Achraf Lazaar, and Yasin Ben El-Mhanni has also been made available.

There doesn’t seem to be enough time to move them all out either permanently or on loan with the window closing in three days and about seven hours (79 hours) – at the time of writing.

So if they are all not moved out some will remain on the wage list at Newcastle, and then the  question is what will Rafa will do with some of them?

Rafa Benitez – what to do with his surplus players?

But some of them will not make the 25 man squad for the Premier League, and if that’s the case they will be left to play for Peter Beardsley’s U23 squad, but they will still be costly to Newcastle.

Rafa was asked in the Chronicle if there could be no playing time for some of the players still here on Friday, and this is how Rafa answered that question:

“Yeah they could be.”

“In the end you have 25 players and you try to move some players.” “If you cannot you still have to register the 25.”

“To keep professionals around who have not got the possibility to do their jobs is not fair.”

“But it’s what you might have to do in order to choose the right 25 to have the balance right just in case something happens.”

“With the others hopefully we can find solutions but if not it’s something we can’t control.”

“We are still trying to improve the situation because we know everybody wants to play and we will try to find a solution.”

“We don’t have too much time and other things could happen.” “Maybe you are trying to sign other players who aren’t available.”

“You can have a target and they won’t sell to you.” “Everybody has the same problem at different levels.”

What do you think?

The Mirror stirring the shit again

Newcastle have slapped a £20million price tag on Aleksandar Mitrovic in light of interest from Greek giants Olympiakos, according to a report.

The Mirror claimed on their live transfer blog on Monday that Mitrovic, 22, has been told that he can stay at St. James’ Park, however Rafa Benitez would sanction a move for him to leave if the Greek champions stump up a figure which would see Newcastle make a big profit on the £13million they spent on him in 2015.

It is understood that Benitez would want to ensure that he finds an instant replacement for the Serbia international, who failed to impress last season as the Magpies won promotion to the Premier League.

The report adds that European side Olympiakos will made a late approach to sign Mitrovic before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday night, although it remains to be seen if they will meet the Tynesiders’ valuation.

The ex-Anderlecht forward has scored two goals in two appearances for the Magpies this season, making a strong case for him to earn a spot in the starting line-up when league action resumes after the international break – if he stays.

Didn’t realise the bus engine was running! 🙂

chicousa, we are all guilty but some worse than others.

Have a feeling Saivet might be kept on, seems to be figuring in the match day squads.

At what point did Yasin Ben El-Mhanni appear on the For Sale list ? It was rumoured that some other clubs were showing interest but only because he was reckoned to be a hot prospect. If that’s the case why wouldn’t we keep him as part of the Young Generation ?
Or did I get this wrong ?

    Repost sorry.

Having been relieved with Saturdays win, confidence plays a massive part in the teams fortunes so to that end do we think we that sports psychology guy we had a couple season ago?

Think Saivet is in the squad due to lack of options with Colback being blacklisted, if we can sign someone better he’ll be on his way ( presuming we can find someone to take him )

To be honest, I would add Diame to the sell list and keep Saivet instead.

    Ed,

El Mhanni is available on load that’s all. I think he’s still considered a good prospect and is there or thereabout in the u-23’s.

    repost

Not sure we need another Striker with both Mitro and Joselu showing they can score, don’t know what’s happening with Gayle, does he have injury problems, is he up to the EPL or is there a confidence issue.

If there is an issue I would be more than happy to see Toney, Longstaffe or Armstrong coming back as 3rd strikers.

Don’t know why we aren’t having a closer look at USA players, Geovinca is one that springs to mind.

surprised none of the championship hopefuls have come in for Hanley as didn’t think his wages were particularly high? He was one of the most consistent defenders in the league for 2-3 seasons before we signed him and is supposedly of good leadership and character…Seems taylor made for a Birmingham city or Derby county…
Saw some article say Jack Colback was on 70k a week… thought it was closer to 55k a week but remember he was a free transfer so his wages were inflated based on that..can’t see anyone matching that based on his form over the last 2 seasons

If we are interested in Nicolas tagliafico (lb), maybe we should look at the striker Lucas Alario. Seems to be quite prolific in Argentina and could be available for the same price as what Gayle or Mitrovic could be sold for.
I hope we get tagliafico instead of kenedy

I think contract talks with Yasin Ben El-Mhanni have stalled, I read somewhere the other day that clubs had become interested as talks over a new contract had stalled.
