Newcastle Enter The Race To Sign Liverpool Striker Divock Origi

There is a report in the Telegraph today that Newcastle are after 22-year-old Liverpool striker Divock Origi.

Other Premier League clubs said to be interested in signing the player include Tottenham Hotspur.

Newcastle are still after one striker to add to the strike force of Joselu, Dwight Gayle, and Aleksandar Mitrovic before the end of the transfer window on Thursday night.

Divock Origi is reported to have been told by manager Jurgen Klopp that he can leave the Reds before the transfer deadline on Thursday as the player wants first team football.

But it seems to be on the condition that Liverpool bring in a new striker or strikers before the transfer window closes.

Newcastle will face some serious competition for the player with Tottenham Hotspur, Marseille, Inter Milan, Juventus, Sampdoria, Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen, Crystal Palace,  and Wolfsburg all said to be interested in signing the player.

The Belgian striker has played 71 times for the Reds with 21 goals since he signed on for £10M on a five-year deal from Lille in the summer of 2014 but was then immediately loaned back to Lille for the 2014–2015 season.

He made his debut for Liverpool in September of 2015 in a 3-1 defeat at Manchester United.

It seems that Newcastle’s best chance of signing Origi would be on a season loan with an option to buy him next summer when we have more money in the coffers.

But some of the clubs interested can afford the full fee up front for the Liverpool striker and that could put the Magpies at a disadvantage.

What do you think?

Well this should keep the press busy for awhile, starts to feel like we’re doing things quite well , beat The Spammers, some great transfer business and with a much loved Manager unlike some :

Arsenal are in “crisis from top to bottom” and manager Arsene Wenger should leave, according to former Gunners striker Ian Wright.
Arsenal’s 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday left them with one win from their first three Premier League games.
“It’s an absolute nightmare,” said Wright

I think this is pure press speculation. Don’t get me wrong, I think he is a decent player, but I don’t think this is one we are in for.

Do we file that under the same list of comments where you said “we havent a hope of signing Jacob Murphy for £10 million if we have even bid?”

How on earth Jiblets has the audacity to call out my footy knowledge on saying Townsend would have made a difference last year after he called out the blog know nowts for not recognising that Riverie would become a great player u set a top coach like McLaren

Looks like this is a complete non-story. News from Liverpool is he is travelling to Marseilles for talks with a move to there today. According to a scouse ex-army mate anyway.

And as much as I like Atsu if you cast your mind back he couldn’t keep Gouffran out of the team last year, I think Townsend would have.

After ten years of ground hog day transfer windows I’m ready for no new signings and Mitrovic and Shelvey to be sold on Thursday.

Its amazing how quick we can sell someone but after 3 months negotiations to buy we just don’t have the time.

Its all good though, we can get our targets for double bubble come January.

We can only hope that Ashley has sanctioned some spending and if so, that Barnes and Charnley recognise that today’s Tuesday and the window closes on Thursday evening. They probably are well aware of that but as Barnes is there to make the club look financially attractive, then he’ll throw whatever spanners into the works he can to obstruct any buys.

And when we’re staring relegation in the face for the third time, without Rafa, Ashley might just wake up to the fact that he’s ballsed up again!

Have anyone seen Pete Graves facebook-wall? Ive become even more paranoid than normal after that one.

    And why you ask?
Im afraid we wont be doing any more ‘business’ before this window closes. If anything Charnley and Ashley (please correct me if im wrong) are more proficient on selling at this latter of the window, than getting players in…

Peter Graves is one of us ( fan and season ticket holder at SJP ) and only doing his job when he makes blog worthy comments for Sky about NUFC and expresses his view of our concerns over Rafa and Ashley’s direction. Lets give a break as it sounds like he’s had some grief over what he’s written ( can we handle the truth ? ) and some love……you know the song

nufc.com have a caption on their site relating to Ding Dong.
Is it a bit too critical?
I don’t think so. He was an awful signing.

If it’s true and we are getting 4 million and him off the wage bill we are doing well.

Hope it doesnt mean we are bringing his brother back.
Never a day without a Dong.

Enjoying most of the sarcasm above and want to have my say. OH dear me ! Mr Cashley, You have dropped a MAJOR bollock with your penny pinching over Andros Townsend. NOW £27 million. Should have listened to Rafa he’s the man ! Sorry couldn’t resist that. Maybe we do have a chance to sign this lad as he is obviously hungry for a chance to shine with first team football which isn’t available at Liverpool. But will he want to move on next window or season like Remy. Ha that’s another story. Grass wasn’t that greener was it Loic ? However I think that Rafa is slowly getting through to uncle Mike and his lap dog Charnley . There is a hell of a lot of pride at stake for us Geordie’s this season never mind how much money will be tipped into Mr Cashley’s pocket, Sorry I mean the club. Do the deal now, Don’t penny pinch anymore. There is only 2 DAYS LEFT !!!!!

We will almost certainly get 1 or 2 more through the door before the window closes and if you think we will sell shelvey you are on drugs. Mitro if we get good money and bring someone else in then I would be happy to see the back of him.

    Jib,
The same reason Diame, Ritchie and Gayle dropped a division. Rafa seemed to think he was coming so must have had some communication with him and the cause of all the negativity and Rafa publicly claiming the club had made mistakes was to do with us not bringing him in.

If you think there’s no chance of selling Shelvey or Mitrovic in the next few days then you’ve been on drugs for ten years, sleeping tablets! Any and every nufc player is for sale, regardless what you me or the manager thinks.

You’re almost certain we’ll buy before window closes, I’m almost certain we won’t, I haven’t slept through the last ten years of windows.

What we want need and get are so far apart it’s like a different sport.
