All Transfer Activity At Newcastle So Far – Three Deals Pending – Very Low Net Spend

Newcastle are finally starting to move some of their surplus players out, but it may be coming too late for the club to bring in some of their targets for the summer.

Grant Hanley has made a move to Norwich City for what the Chronicle are saying is only a £3.5M fee.

But even with that, we reckon the net spend by Newcastle so far this summer is only £14.5M – with a gross spend of £37M.

We were talking at the beginning of the transfer window of a net spend of around £70M being available – how wrong could we be?

But we also don’t understand why there is so little money available to spend this summer and Rafa certainly thought there was a lot more.

Rafa Benitez – signed six new players so far this summer

The difference with last year is we were unable this summer to move out players early in the window and have that cash available to spend.

Three players have left Newcastle within the last few days, and two more are expected to transfer out before tomorrow night.

Maybe we will have some money to spend in the January transfer window, but we wouldn’t bet on it.

Here are the transfers in and out so far with three deals still pending – one in and two out.

Isn’t this what we spent the last article talking about? It doesn’t bode well for Ashley. And it isn’t the best way to do business either. Getting backed into a corner with a time shortage. If they were going to sell Gayle they needed to have done it a few weeks back to give themselves time to find a proper replacement and actually bring him in. What part of that is hard to understand? That makes me think that it wasn’t in the plans to replace him but only to reduce the net spend and the wage bill as much as possible while relying on Rafa to keep us up.

i would love to know how much money Ashley has taken out of Newcastle united in the past 10 years and id love to know how much he should have paid the club for the advertising hes had since then and then he has the balls to say the club owe him 130 million quid a club which he owns, all these sums just do not add up none of it does but don’t forget folks mike Ashley has no money i just wonder where he gets it from to add shopping companies to his empire at whos expense ohh aye our expense

This moving players out nonsense that keeps being brought seems to have been an accepted excuse by many. Also net spend, who cares. Mike Ashley at this point in his tender has pocketed millions from Newcastle United. And after this season(relagated or not) that’ll be in the hundreds of millions. Even if we manage to pull off a or a couple of or no bumper signings this window has been a huge success for him. Charnley probably gets a %bonus of unspent money. Every penny generated from promotion was just a lie. No other way to dress it up. It was a lie.

I would keep Gayle at least until January.

Any Championship clubs who are in the top 6 or 7 would be willing to pay quite a lot for that striker who would get them between 10-15 goals to propel them into top two or play offs.

I can’t see him going now …What am I saying. I don’t think we should sell him unless we have a replacement – but this is Ashleys club !!!

Ashley will be up in the hundreds of millions in his pocket after this season(relegated or not). As far as he’s concerned this transfer window has been a massive success. Even if we pull off 1 or 2 big signings it’s still a success. I imagine charns gets a % of all unspent money following promotion just to take flack from the fans. The spend of every penny generated from promotion, dress it up how you like, was just a lie. He should be heckled from every angle upon entering SJP. After all, what had he ever done for us fans.

This smells so much like the normal Ashley stall job at the end of a window. He and Charnley have it down to a fine art. Stall until the end, then throw up your hands and say you tried. It isn’t cutting it Ashley and never will again.

Does anyone remember the manifest he released after the first relagation of his dictatorship? Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the forecast that we’d be debt free by 2017. Now mike hasn’t become a multi billionaire by getting financial forecasts wildly incorrect has he. Next excuse, “a weaker GBP”. Guarantee it

Man City looking to offload Wilfried Bony. I think 2 years ago I would have found that a very inspiring signing but somehow today it feels like he lost his way.

    Any thoughts on that?

Blog reaching critical mass a whole day early ha ha.

The mighty Swans next and we are still panicking. Let’s at least get to Friday morning and even then the injuries and suspensions won’t last forever. And if we keep Gayle, who knows he might not actually be the premier league failure, championship quality AT BEST (FACT!) that he was judged to be after the FIRST game this season. 🙂

Rafa is only still here because of loyalty to the long suffering fans. Mr Ashley please do us all a favour and get out of our Club. We are undoubtably in a relegation dogfight yet again but the present squad is far weaker than the previous two that went down. If we go down again this season, mark my words it is extremely unlikely we’ll get back up.
I agree transfer fees this season have gone ridiculous but we need to INVEST realistic money to at least give us a chance of a mid table finish.
Better offers are bound to come for Rafa & we can’t blame him if he takes one

Musa has never really done it at premier level, gibbs is injured more then he plays and not exactly a youngin and sanches as good as he looks is untested in premier…so sanches is really the only one who is a miss out on…to me anyway.

I am not a big fan of Ashley for other reasons, but anybody who thinks an owner can take money out of a Premier League club is just beyond it. Every single one of them is a money pit. Even with the new TV deals some clubs are just about able to break even and manage their debts.

A Premier League club today serves either as a toy or to gain status or some sort of marketing trick for shady regimes or businesses (Man City, Chelsea).

As an investment for money making it must be one of the worst you can think of, in the same league as used cars.

Ashley has gained a lot using NUFC as a poster for Sports Direct. This is a massive gain. The only other way for him to gain anything is that a new owner buys it of him for a ridiculous sum of money.

Don’t Panic, don’t panic…….. For Christ’s sake, there is still time to bring in a player or two, and even if we don’t we still have enough to compete above the relegation places. A little faith in the players we have wouldn’t go amiss and in Rafa and his team too.

There does seem to be a few gloomy people on here , Gayle out would be a worry without a replacement, Origi on loan, Bony on loan could still happen……right up until it can’t anymore, I just hope Rafa has some minutes left on his works phone ( if Cashley has authorized him to use it in Switzerland) we may need his influence on our potential signings

Swemag. Loanees are the best we can get. He has Premiership experience perhaps playing regularly at the Toon would relaunch his career. Trouble is Cashley won’t see him as somebody he can make money out of. Hope the last day of the window sees plenty of good signings Tsunki but I doubt it. All the pessimists three weeks ago were saying stop panicking there’s still three weeks to go of the window. Now down to last day & no nearer. The present squad with 17 gone & 7 in (incl Atsu) is no stronger than last season apart from the wage bill being less.WE still have big holes in critical areas especially up front, playmaker & back up for Shelvey. Sadly both Mitro & Shelvey will miss a lot of games though recklessness.

    Llorente to Chelsea from Swans
    Bony to replace Llorente
Newcastle to go for bats from Chelsea.

Orestis Karnezis – Udinese (No chance)
Dennis Praet – Sampdoria (staying there)
    Kenedy – Chelsea (Will happen)
Divock Origi – Liverpool (No chance)
Nicolas Tagliafico – Independiente (only if Kenedy doesn’t join).

At this point I think we will end up with Kenedy and that’s it. We are showing zero ambition.

But it’s Charnley and Ash why should we think differently this time.
