Late Interest From South Coast In Signing Tim Krul – Deal Agreed?

Argus and Brighton reporter Andy Naylor is tweeting today that Brighton & Hove Albion may be interested in signing Tim Krul today.

It’s a late move by Brighton who have been trying to sign a goalkeeper all summer.

And after Chris Hughton the Brighton manager was at Newcastle, he knows all about Tim Krul, and he knows that Tim is a good goalkeeper who has lots of Premier League experience and impressed while on loan at AZ earlier this year.

Tim is in the last year of his contract at Newcastle, so we would like a straight transfer, but Brighton could play it cute by offering a loan move, which means they could sign Tim as a free agent for nothing next summer.

So it depends on how much Newcastle want Tim’s wages off the wage bill for the coming season.

The other consideration is if Newcastle have time to bring in a replacement for Tim so he can be the third goalkeeper with up-and-coming Freddie Woodman likely to go out on loan in January.

Tim has made 185 appearances for the Newcastle first team and has been a very good player for us since signing on at Newcastle 12 years ago.

And as we are going to press, Dutch daily De Telegraaf are reporting Newcastle and Brighton are in agreement over Krul, and a loan deal could go through today.

If that’s true, it looks like we will not get any fee for Tim when his contract runs out next summer.

What do you think?

For goodness sake Ed, you seem to be excited at the prospect of player sales!
Yes, we need the likes of Krul off the books but while Charnley’s dealing with sales/ outgoing loans, he’s giving his full attention to incomers.

We’re gonna end up with a weaker squad and an uphill struggle – this coming January’s buys should have been in now!

    Good news, jesper!

“…I am glad we have Rafa though…just imagine if we didn’t!”

    But for how long more?

    And

Ashley’s in court again – this time he’s suing Tony Jimanez (remember him?) for £3m he’s allegedly defrauded Ashley of. Ashley suing on the basis of fraud? The irony won’t esape you.

And it seems that Denis Wise sued Jimanez in 2013 in regard to the same golf club project.

Ashley’s business associations speak volumes about him!

    Ron

Ashley’s body language speaks volumes. He doesn’t like scrutiny does he. I wonder if he’s going to attend the next fans forum meeting? Ah, he’ll have a subsequent engagement so can’t. Maybe the next one then?

    Thanks Ron mate…

    I don’t know, but I’ll take comfort in what I know…and he’s still here

About outgoing players…honestly couldn’t care less unless it meant we would sigh players – seeing as it doesn’t and Rafa is in charge of both incoming players and outgoing players then why bother (Rafa) – Ashley is paying their wages not you!

    …fu$k him 🙂

With little time to get another keeper in, I cannot understand why he has let him go out in loan. Seems a strange dec ision.

Pickford isn’t much older than him .dont need a poor unknown so called name from an average euro club when we have a talent in Feddie

Watford have shown great ambition this window. Coupled with their manager I expect them to take the spot behind Everton.

Less than 12hrs and there’ll be no incomers. Charnley tried for numerous targets overseas but unfortunately, they wouldn’t be able to get to the UK in time.

Never mind, there’s always another window.

Poor old penfold; used to be all he had to do on transfer dealine day was not get them over the line. Then Mikey would smile, pat him on the head and give him a pack of his favourite biscuits.
Now if he does that Rafa gives him a slap and if he gets one over the line he has to face the wrath of Mikey. He’s currently curled up in the corner of the office mumbling and wimpering, the rest of the office yelling at him, furious as they’re still waiting for their tea.

One thing is for certain if we don’t do our business today we will have to go with what we have for the season as Newcastle don’t like to do business in the January window, something to do with over inflated prices.

    news just in:
Everyone at Mikey’s PR firm have been called in. They’re working hard to manufacture a deadline day media ride, which leaves Newcastle fans happy and relieved that they’ve managed to get southampton’s third choice left back over the line on a loan. NUFC paying the bill as Mikey shuffles his wallpaper and slips a few quid into Harry’s dog’s account.
