Potential Newcastle Loan Deal Hits A Late Snag

When we saw that Newcastle were interested in signing Matt Targett of Southampton on loan for the season that looked like a great deal for us but it has already hit a snag on this final day of the transfer window.

Southampton are reported to want a big loan fee for their 21-year-old left back, and it seems that Newcastle are unwilling to pay that.

Since we desperately need to bring in a specialized left-back today, we assume Newcastle have another target lined up – maybe signing Independiente left-back Nicolas Tagliafico?

Here’s a tweet from George Caulkin from the Times today:

If we cannot get a left-back in we still have Sadio Haidara although his injury history is not good at Newcastle when he did play last season he looked OK.

Matt Targett – loan fee too much for Newcastle?

Sadio has only one year left on his contract at Newcastle and will become a free agent next summer, but Newcastle would have liked to have unloaded the Frenchman this summer.

Sadio joined us from French club Nancy in January of 2013.

There’s also news from Italy that Achraf Lazaar’s loan move to Benevento may be hitting a snag, and that Rafa Benitez now wants to keep Lazaar at Newcastle for the coming season.

Needless to say, Lazaar is not too keen on that proposition after not getting a look-in with Rafa last season.

But Sky Sports Italia are now reporting that Newcastle have persuaded Achraf to stay at Newcastle this season so that doesn’t sound good for getting left-sided full backs and/or wingers through the door today.

Rafa will be balancing various things today because he will want to have cover from former surplus players if we cannot get some of our targets through the door by 11:00 pm tonight.

Isn’t it amazing we have all these ‘snags’ at the last minute.
The MAJOR snag with this club is the greedy, unambitious, uncaring, lying, disruptive, devious owner.

Colback out on loan with us paying half his wages is another pointless deal to be honest

Anyone wanting to have a pop at big Mike is going to have me to answer to me……im currently wallpapering his front room and I can tell you the lad is skint. The wall paper is a bit on the heavy side though. Took me 3 attempts to nail it to the wall. Couldn’t get the nails through the gold and jewels. the poor bloke is not going to be happy when I tell him my hourly rate. Made right mess ok the gold bricks behind it.

    About the Chinese buyout:

I recently read something about the Chinese government pressing to shrink investments outside the country since they have overtaken the incoming investments significantly. It’s a communist country which makes it easier to impose such policies quickly.

In short, the economic climate there makes it highly unlikely we would be subject of a takeover – and even if we are, it’s very much possible the new owners would struggle to invest as much as we’d like to be competitive. It could still be better than Ashley’s tight regime (what wouldn’t be?!) but it’s a very far cry so don’t get your hopes high.

    That sounds like face-saving.

Nine hours to get to Newcastle, have a medical, sign a contract. Is that feasible?

It could be done, but as this is only paper talk at the moment maybe it’s a touch too much to hope for.

These are the problems of leaving everything so late. We hit snags, prices go up as other clubs know we’re now desperate. Really hope Lazaar doesn’t stay and we grt a replacement. Still hopeful we somehow manage to get a CAM in before the deadline but highly doubtful.

Penfold has his list sorted and is working hard behind the scenes.

    Custard Creams
    Chocolate Digestives
    Carrot Cake
    Tetleys One Cup
    Sugar

I have every confidence in him getting everything over the line.

Seems the main problem is someone put in place by Ashley to stop money actually being shelled out by Charnley – called “Barnes” he’s apparently the one stopping us dealing on a level ground with other clubs (mind, I would have told Southampton to go and **** themselves for demanding £5 million” “loan fee”for their third choice left back too
