New today in the Chronicle that both Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin should be fit again to return to the squad for the game at Swansea on Sunday afternoon.
Florian has recovered fully from the ankle injury he picked up in the first half of the first game against Spurs.
DeAndre has also finally recovered from his hamstring injury he picked up during pre-season, but it’s doubtful he will come straight back into the side on Sunday. with Javier Manquillo doing a decent job at right-back in the first three PL games of the season.
Javier Manquillo has been doing a decent job at right-back in the first three PL games of the season and could keep his place.
We think Florian is probably our best center-back this season, and he was impressive in pre-season.
So maybe he will return to the starting eleven at Swansea with Ciaran Clark possibly switching to left back in place of Chancel Mbemba, who has done well at left back for the last few games.
So some good news for a change for Newcastle and we are assuming that striker Dwight Gayle is available again after his recent sickness although we would expect the impressive Joselu to lead the line in south Wales.
And news today that Fulham may come back for Dwight in January, and we assume Rafa will try to get another striker lined up on loan or a permanent signing in January so we could cash in on Dwight.
It will all depend of course on how well Gayle plays for Newcastle through the end of this year.
If he scores lots of goals for us then he will be going nowhere.
What do you think?

How will we get players in January we haven’t got any money, do SKY or the FA give an advance halfway?

I try not to read everything into managers comments. He may have not wanted to answer the question for whatever reason. Who knows.
The thing that does stick in my mind is that Ashley says he lets him run the football and can spend what the club earns (can’t recall exactly words and not looking it up). If he does go to see him would some then say he is interfering. I don’t know and unless Rafa is leaking to the press nor do they.
It really does not consume my waking hours. The only conspiracy theory I ever cared about was the 2cnd gunman nowt else compares

Where does the long term planning go by keeping Woodman here in the reserves all season come in to it. Would Rafa have let Krul go if he’s known we weren’t getting another keeper. When Elliott gets his annual injury we will have Darlow and Woodman as the only keepers on the books, what if, no it never happens, Darlow gets sent off for a foul outside the box?

If you beleive everything that Mike Ashley says in his scripted interviews then I’m afraid we’re done for now, there can be no debating with that.

As regards Krul it has become clear that there had to be movement out before more could be brought in. That took time probably for several reasons including agents and players trying to wait it out.
I think the delay contributed to the difficulties in bringing in replacements. Rafa as in other positions than goalkeeper is having to work with what he has ended up with rather than his original plans. I doubt he is the only manager having to do so but may be in more difficult circumstances than others. There again he is a better manager than most so all is not lost.
I understand why players trained away from the first team not simply because he had a brutal point to make but because he had to concentrate on those he wanted in squad.
Some players can badly affect morale in these circumstances and the issue needs very careful handling. Not sure exactly how Rafa did ( does anyone?) but we can now see how important it is that it was handled professionally and without rancour if players have to be reintegrated into match squads.
Rafa got Anita and Goufran firing again last season and I trust he can do similar with those not moved on.

Comment #127Sky tv money is payed in installments dependent on tv games shown and with a % of the seasons earnings. Then the big lump is payed at the end of the season depending on where you finish in the table.
Its also common to agree terms with clubs where payment is due when the funds become available. Its often said nufc pay cash up front but in reality we probs dont we just dont pay in installments.

Comment #128I think its around 80 million the first payment with the rest coming at the end of the season depending how you do and how often the games where on tv.

Comment #130On another point see pundits seeking to excuse away Alli indiscretion as quickly and non controversially as possible( by no means his first and he doesn’t learn – arrogant and needs discipline) . Hypocrisy from panel – Shelvey would have been hammered in similar circumstances!

Comment #131@magscar thats because alli is the current golden boy regardless of him being an odious little thug.
Shelley however isn’t in the England setup so will be hammered for each and every indiscretion. On the same note, see how Hatry “butter wouldn’t melt” Kane’s horror challenge in the game against us has went ignored.
Disgusting favouritism pushed by all British mainstream media and if totally effects the FA and what they do. See Mitrovic and the witch hunt that came then.

Comment #140Whatever has gone on between Rafa and the Fantastic 4 of Fatty, Barnes, Penfold, Moncur, surely either Rafa now knuckles down to football matters and getting the best out of our squad. I doubt, despite all our theories, any of us will ever know what has gone on, exactly.
In the main, we have young, highly motivated lads, who actually want to be here.
The players and Rafa deserve our full support, at matches.

I’m sure the 4 you mentioned would acknowledge that Rafa is their superior in all matters relating to coaching and tactics in the modern football game and also evaluating a players potential.
But when it comes to running the complex business that is the modern PL club , Rafa should also realise that folk have more knowledge than him in that field.
Rafa sometimes makes mistakes in his area of expertise – he should allow for others to do the same in theirs.
It’s so much more complicated than simply buying and selling players.

Comment #146Here’s something to think about, if we beat Swansea on Sunday it is possible for Newcastle to go into the top ten if some results go our way. Yes I know strange thing really but it is possible. Swansea game seems really important this early in the season. Don’t get me wrong Mike Ashley has pissed off the fans no end, he lacks any football knowledge and does not realize what he actually has at the club. Yes please wear your Mike out T/Shirts but also support our players 100% on the pitch, they have done nothing wrong. Lets be honest here Toon Army, this is something we know was going to happen, nothing new so we are now a tougher fan base because we know the owner is nothing more than a thief stealing revenue from the club. Still don’t understand the man, wants to sell the club but does not want the team to look good to do that? Well here we go Five more days and we will see what Rafa can produce from our players, good having a few back from injury, hope we start with some serious pace at Swansea.
