Newcastle now have at least one new injury concern after last night’s World Cup qualifying games as defender Chancel Mbemba had to leave the field limping after 59 minutes.
Chancel was captain of his country, DR Congo, and had put them ahead after only 9 minutes against Tunisia, and they were 2-0 up when Chancel had to limp off.
But it was more bad news for Chancel as Tunisia leveled the scores with two late goals – after 77 and 79 minutes.
No news on what the injury is to Chancel, but it’s bad luck for the African player who has been playing well for Newcastle this season.
We do have two back four players – Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin – returning to the squad for Sunday’s game at Swansea after recovering from injury, so that should lessen the blow a little bit.
Serbia beat Ireland 1-0 in Dublin, but Aleksandar Mitrovic didn’t score (Kolarov got the goal after 55 minutes) and was held by Newcastle’s Ciaran Clark.
But Serbia are now 4 points clear of Wales after 8 games played with Wales beating Moldova away 2-0 and move one point above Ireland and into second place in Group D.

And Freddie Woodman played for the England U21 side at Bournemouth when they beat Latvia 3-0 in what was a European U21 Championship qualifying game.
And another young Newcastle star, Mikel Merino, played the whole game for the Spanish U21 side in their 1-0 win over Estonia in European qualifying.
Our players will now be returning to Newcastle and Rafa can get some training done for Sunday afternoon’s game at Swansea.
After everything that’s happened since last Thursday, a win and another good performance is what we all need.
