Francisco de Miguel Moreno (Paco) did very well in his press conference today, but he didn’t talk at all about the transfers at Newcastle., basically because he’s not involved on that, but he offered up some positive news on the injury front with Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin.
That was because he’s not involved in those but he offered up some positive news on the injury front with Florian Lejeune, and DeAndre Yedlin both fit again.
And the club medics, having had an initial look at Chancel Mbemba’s injury, don’t think it’s a serious injury at all – and neither does Chancel – so that’s good news.
When asked about Rafa’s mood this week Paco said it was very positive, but it always is when Rafa is talking about his passion – football.
So maybe things are not as dark as painted by some reports and indeed our players seem as upbeat as ever.
Ciaran Clark has returned from international duty and could even play at left-back on Sunday with Chancel not being fit enough to play.
Ciaran is upbeat at what he sees as positive vibes at the club, and there will be even more of those if we can beat Swansea on Sunday.
Ciaran Clark after scoring the second goal against West Ham
Here is some of what Ciaran Clark has said to nufcTV:
“We wanted to get points on the board after two tricky games and we managed to do that against West Ham.”
“I think things were coming together, we played really well (against West Ham) and created chances, put them under a lot of pressure and forced them to make mistakes.”
“We managed to capitalize and it was something we worked on in training.”
“Injuries are frustrating for the manager because he works on players in certain positions and injuries force him to change.
“We have adapted and hopefully we can build on West Ham.” “Swansea will be a tough game and they have made signings in the window.”
“We just want to go and give a positive performance.”
“Their fans will be excited to see the new lads in action but it won’t faze us. We’ll just go down there and do our jobs.”
“We did take confidence from West Ham and it was nice going into the break knowing we had points on the board.”
“Coming back in, it feels like a positive vibe.”
“We want to get as many points on the board as early as we can, so it’s a good place to go and try to carry on the momentum.”
Newcastle players were given a lot of confidence after two tough defeats in the first two games when we easily beat West Ham 3-0 last time out, and we played very well in that second half and could easily have had more goals.
We need more of that form in south Wales on Sunday afternoon.
A win would be just terrific!

I think you are totally missing the point, someone said the other day that a huge influx of protest letter dumped on his door step at his HQ would (might) make him aware of our discontent.
It may on the other hand be a total waste of time but I’m prepared to expend a few pence for a stamp and a small amount of my time to give it a try.
The reason I use petitions as a comparison is that a mass of people making the same point can be very effective as proven by those worthy organisations.
If you don’t like the idea then fine by me but don’t just diss them out of hand.
emails do not arrive on your doorstep, in fact I’d expect SD would have them going straight into their spam folder.

Mind you if no one else bothers to write then my effort would be a waste of time.
However I’m pleased to see that the original letter writer has been mentioned on TV, so that hasn’t been a wasted effort although I doubt if Ashley will take any heed of it or even acknowledge it.

Said that Jonjo and Mikel have been training well together, is that a hint for the team for Sunday?

Oh no, I get the point. I just think you’re pissing in the wind mate in lieu of actual protest.
And yes, mass movements are very effective, no arguments from me.
I was being sarcastic re emails, and it is somewhat laughable to think that SD are incapable of handling a large amount of mail…
I’m not dismissing the sentiment behind writing the letters – a desire to do something – I simply think that what people have chosen to do is not worth doing and that many have chosen not to take actions which were so much more worthy and that this is a relatively simple cop out to make people feel like they’ve done their bit.
Again, this is only the opinion of one humble fool who has tried and failed to inspire revolutionary fervor amongst our fan base and I am not trying to dampen anyone’s attempts but nor will I call a bad idea a good one just to make people feel good about themselves.

I do think that was a slip of the tongue and i can see us playing something like:
Elliott
Yedlin – lascelles – lejoune – clark
Hayden
Ritchie – shelvey – mereno – atsu
Joselu
(Alternating between a 441 and 4231)

Comment #6Cannot see the argument against anyone who writes in a letter to Mr Tubbs. Whilst it may be futile, who knows, if the press pick it up (as per the recent open letter) it might lead to the press asking questions about Mr Tubbs commitment.
In the current climate there is no appetite for mass demonstrations -so if individuals feel the need to do their own form of protest – good on them. At least they are doing something – better than doing nothing.
Certainly better than those who exclaim and trumpet that they are doing nothing – a few of ’em have been flushed out on here.
Definitely better than those who conveniently proclaim they have no interest in the “politics side of things”.
If you are a member of the human race -you should have disdain for a scumbag like Mr Tubbs – he is a bad man.

My issue comes from having to accept the “we won’t protest so it’s the next best thing” attitude with regards our fans. I agree that doing something is better than doing nothing, but this little something is a) not enough, and b) too little too late.
I share your sentiments with holding those who proudly do nothing with disdain though though I won’t praise weak action even if it’s better than none at all.

Comment #9Ruddy – the dilema occurs when individuals are aware that “Geordie” will not revolt en mass. What can the individual do then – take the right royal rodgering as per usual or otherwise. A single persons actions may be futile against Mr Tubbs but at least they are making a stance.
