We seem to pop a lot of deft one touch passes when crowded around the box and the Spanish lads are usually central to it… I’d say we’ll get a few goals bursting into the box over the season with that… Merino almost went through them today but went to ground… Hopefully that’s a one off too… Not a fan of it, even in my own team!

Renato who? Merino made him look average at times today. Great performance from the lads. Well deserved imo!

I don’t think Swansea were poor today, Ok they were gelling new players into their side, but overall I think we were just the better side, more compact and disciplined had more chances and scored the winner. Last time West Ham were rubbish, this time the opposition was tougher and we overcame them to take a well deserved 3 points.

Third time lucky. (Slow down ed, Shearer isn’t that important)

Spent the day in hospital, so to win today was extra special.

@ShirebrookToon: No disrespect to Merino’s performance (it was outstanding once again), but I think we could have gave Sanches the run of the midfield and he’d still have looked bang average. Flattered to deceive.

Merino was my man of the match. Only complaint i have is why did he dive? If he stayed on his feet, it would have been 3 attackers vs 1 defender. But i wont make a big deal out of it, everything else he did was immense. Plus we got the win.

Firebugg but that chance was a half chance at best and he did better than expected to get that into the corner. Most strikers would fail to get on the end of that and Mitro has no movement at all and I dont think would have even met the cross.

I understand what your saying when you say we need a striker that will get 15-20 goals a season but surely you can only judge Joselu on his performances and at the moment he is playing very well.

Another tremendous team effort by all the players.

Just like against West Ham they were well organised and quickly closed down the Swansea players never let them rest.

My standout players today were captain fantastic. Merino looks certain to make that central midfield position his own. Ritchie whose workrate is exceptional and an example to all other players. Joselu who lead the line well. He is more mobile than Mitrovich and stronger than Gayle.

I was pleased about Gamez. He appeared to be targeted as the majority of Swansea attacks came down his side but stood up well.

I’m not sure about Murphy. The jury is out because it was his debut. I guess it’s early days. But with Atsu and Aarons we are well served on the left wing.

Next is Stoke who are no pushover but very winnable.

Sanches showed he had quality with his touch and acceleration but his passing was way off and he looked like he was out of it early in the second half. Give him a run of games in the prem and once he is up to speed he will be a top class player no doubts.

I wonder if Rafa can manage to integrate Leujeune into a back 3?
So this is how it feels to have 4 real quality center-backs.
A porous defence always makes you start on the back foot, feels so good knowing we no longer have our fortunes precariously left in the hands of the Keystone Cops.

I must say I am not a big fan of people saying shouting out work rate as a big plus like they do with perez as I feel it should be a given at the top level but I must say Richie takes that asset to a new level. His fitness is something mo farah would be proud of.

Yeah Sanches wasn’t at his best today but take nothing away from Merino.

Gamez was awesome at LB today. Swansea and myself underestimated him today.

Benitez has a nice problem with his central defenders. He clearly rates Lascelles as he is the embodiment of a captain and has Benitez’ trust. Clark is Mr Dependable. His performances are always consistently good.

If we consider are 3 striking options at present we have good options. Mitro is an out and out target man type, Gayle is a pacy on the shoulder of the last man type and Joselu can do both but not as effectively as the other 2 at their specialities… A hybrid of sorts… I like what we are shaping up to become.

Good to see that those of us who didn’t think shelvey would play today weren’t affected by drug abuse. 🙂

Very good performance from the lads, although like West Ham Swansea were poor. Left back is our real problem, Gamez is just not good enough for this league. With our lack of left backs I don’t know why Rafa doesn’t play 3 at the back. That way we could use a combination of either Richie, Atsu, Aarons or Murphy as wing backs and still keep our attacking options going forward.

Only complaint is Ritchie giving the stinking media a chance to whine that Liverpool were hard done by when they f*****g WEREN’T.
Most ridiculous was Ritchie’s foot up was “worse than Manes” which was effing ridiculous.Mane’s was into the blokes face at speed. The Swansea player played it fair, mind. Full marks to him even if the boot didn’t get within a foot of his face. Man would particularly the foreigners
