Who Was Newcastle’s Man Of The Match At Swansea?

Let us know who you think our Man of the Match was today in the close but excellent 1-0 win at Swansea.

Rafa will have seen good performances all over the pitch today as his players are understanding exactly what he’s telling them in training and they are putting it into effect during the games.

We now hope Mike Ashley will provide funds in January so Rafa can bring in two or three players to add to the squad before next summer.

Rafa is proving again why he’s a world-class manager.

Well that was a good performance, thought Merino was immense shame about dive and wayward cross field pass. Lascelles was great today and even Mo tried. No Joselu next week though, that will be a miss.

Geddin, once again we p!ssed on Sky’s chips. Knowing we have to be at 120% to beat the other side plus the referee gives me greater satisfaction.

We were excellent, and once again it was OUR performance that made the other team look average.

A bullet was dodged on Tampax Abraham and that debut from Sanches – after Sky spent an eternity blowing smoke up his hoop – was one of the worst in the EPL.

Nice to see that Sky didn’t show one reply of Sanches trying to detach Joselu’s junk, instead focussing on a hundred replays of Ritchie’s high foot. Well, fcuk you Sky et al. He got a yellow card. Mind, since it’s us, I can see the FA taking it further.

I thought the team played excellent. And Joselu was a brilliant outlet. Just cos he didn’t cost £30million doesn’t mean he isn’t a good player.

Trawling back on some of the comments about players/predicted score before and during the game I am once again astounded by some of the negativity.

Roll on Saturday…cannot wait to cheer on the lads!

Clematis Abraham will do well this season if you remember how young he is. I only wish we had a talent up top of that quality so young.

Sanches will also be a top quality player he just needs time to adapt.

Joselu is doing very well though I agree.

Sanches surrendered possession 14 times in the first 28 minutes. That’s absolutely pathetic. We could buy Merino for what Swansea have paid to loan Sanches, and it looks he is out on a loan for a very good reason.

NUFC-83: not many tap-ins or keeper errors in this league, mate. I’d rather any one of our front three than give Abraham playing time 🙂

Ancient Sanches and Merino are both quality players. It was a bad performance but you could see by his touch he had real quality. Write him off at your peril is what I say.

    Fantastic – but nervy – 3 points

On the balance of play well deserved.

Annoyed that Ritchie’s hi foot gets all the attention but no one picks out t kick in the nuts or scissor tackle by Swansea players.

Still concerned that we appear to invite wide players by playing too narrow when we loose the ball — off for another wine

shocking how they can just pick and choose
remember mitros sending off vs spurs in the last game in the prem he only had eyes on the ball too but we had le tits saying he should have a 10 game ban!

Really happy with the win…like I said before the game Swansea has been piss poor for years (suck on that carl and your brother in law) and it was up to us to grab the game…and we did!

Wasn’t a great game by all means but we worked hard and were solid at the back…the subs were right, and the formation is still a bad call. We won’t score many goals this season but I think we might just be solid at the back!

Will make a huge difference in the end…but imagine if the Murphy money were spend on a top forward in stead…or that money Ashley is now offering the players if they win the FA Cup…

    …what a cheeky bastard!

some of it comes from that tit McLaren who after his first game for us put the target on his back by say he has it in him cant remember what he did it was a poor challenge

the other problem we have is for years we were a lot of peoples second team we played good football
the media love to build then kick it down
then u only have to look at the way we are run and our owner isn’t exactly mr popular it all makes us an easy target

The lad played absolutely shite to be honest. He was miles off the pace. Sigurdsson and Llorente scored over half their goals last season apparently. So if Abraham and Sanchez don’t cut the mustard they’re ferked.

Merino is on a completely different level. What a player we have. Another very Good performance from every single one of the lads. Hopefully everyone will finally get off our backs now. Anyone else notice how gutted Pardew looked that we Won? Joselu also looks like a handful, does’nt stop working and chasing down.

Merinos first start at Huddersfield in the 1st half he was fcuking awful exactly like Sanches was today. Merino looks a great player but Sanches is too. Bayern don’t sign shite players in deals worth nearly 80m overall if they are garbage.

Manquillo is quite good getting forward but usless at defending gives fouls away a lot and seems to let players go too easily. Yedlin is far better in both departments.

kanes tackle is the worst i’ve seen this season and there was nothing on it thats why i said try and highlight the sanchez kick just to see if it makes a difference

Looks like Pardue – he of virginal temperament and touch line control is being paid too much to be a twat. Does he really think that Ritchie’s glancing contact with a Swansea players arm is more dangerous that yesterday’s Red Card for a Head injury. The guy is incompetent as a manager and not fit for purpose as a pundit. The FA should control and ban idiots for remarks like this. Boils my you know what – but that’s exactly what he’s paid to do.

“Is Ritchie endangering an opponent? Without a shadow of a doubt. I actually think that’s worse than Mane’s.”

Manquillo getting a lot of stick despite the clean sheets i hope we don’t concede or they’ll bung him head first in a wheelie bin and set him on fire before pushing him into the tyne, eh?

So. Shelvey didn’t start against the Swans. Does that mean anyone who predicted that isn’t on drugs after all? 😉

Going into the next home game with our heads held high and knowing we can hold our own in this league. We kept them quiet and broke them down great 3 points well earned. Lacelles get my man of the match but merino was good today. Ritchie grafts hard but if the laddie had went down he would have seen red. Perez went missing for large parts of the game and was our worse player imho . Next game we can win again and hopefully the doubters will start to chill a little. Howay the toon.

tsunki its only because of lacelles he isn’t getting stick the guy isn’t good at defending full stop
he even hacked a player down when they were going nowhere which they very nearly scored from the resulting free kick
he switches off after 40 mins every game

Nufc-83: i just thought Abraham’s all-round play wasn’t that good and he should have chipped his shot instead of side-footing it. I’m sure he’ll get a few goals but I have every faith in what we have.

I think the way we play does suit a big lad up front but Joselu/Mitro are better than Abraham in my eyes.

Perez does continue to be an enigma. He should have scored when put through. I wish we would play Ritchie as a #10 and just put pure pace (Aarons, Atsu, Murphy and Yedlin) down the flanks.

Bless Hayden. He’s on Twitter apologising for having a bad game. He did alright. However, I am relishing the prospect of Shelvey and Merino in the middle.

I must agree on Perez the first half he just ran side to side and put no pressure on defenders, for Abraham chance he was trying to keep out of way of the passer. When tackles it’s a foul.

I said we should keep jonjo on the bench and am pleased we did. Looking forwards to him and merino playing together but today was too big a risk for him to do something daft. They would have wound him up to get a bite outta him and the fans onside an i dont trust him not to be a nacker atm.

Manpixie the problem with your comment regarding buying based on euro’s etc is sisskho was always useless even in the euro’s he just looked good on the highlight reel. I cant believe how many commentators and ex players get drawn in to someone who looks good vs actually being a good player. Sissokho in the euros would burn 1 or 2 off on the wing then put in a god awful cross that would often go out for a goal kick or not find a simple pass when it was on. Sanches however shows his quality and even today you could see the lad has bags of ability. Its not the same comparison in my eyes.
