Newcastle Fans Heap Praise On Player For Outstanding And Gutsy Performance

Jamaal Lascelles didn’t have a great season last term for Newcastle but the 23-year-old still made the Championship Team of the Season.

And then towards the end of last season when our promotion was assured it was revealed the captain had been playing with a hernia problem since late October and that came as a shock to fans.

It shows how this lad gives everything to Newcastle and why Rafa has appointed one so young as the Newcastle captain.

His performances this season have been much improved and he had a great game yesterday – a real captain’s performance.

Captain fantastic Jamaal Lascelles celebrates winning goal

He scored with a towering header after 76 minutes to win the game for us and his clearance from Tammy Abraham after 60 minutes had been simply amazing and showed just how fast and determined Jamaal is.

Here are some comments from Newcastle fans – what a buy this lad has been for Newcastle United.

We’ve got real competition now for the centre back position. Just as Rafa would want.
We now need to get that sort of competition all over the field.

Lascalles has had his hernia fixed and has come back a new man.
Rafa has had the same op and no doubt will be back in imperious form.
If we’re not careful it will soon be the designer op of choice for all.

A real captain’s performance yesterday and he deserves all the credit he’s getting. We’ve got a good young squad that looks promising for the future as well as right now. The longer they play together the better they’ll knit.
Everton, who spent a fortune in the window, lost 0-3 to Spurs with eleven men, which puts our performance into better perspective when you consider how well we nullified them until Shelvey had his moment.
We may not have bought any big names, but it looks like we spent well overall and the future’s looking brighter day by day.

Good to see we now have some goal potential from our CBs, unlike Colo and Willo.

Stoke showed some very good football against Man U, it’s going to be a tough game.

Although I voted for Lascelles as MotM Merino was not far behind – I was impressed with this kid against West Ham and again yesterday. He seems to have everything, strong in the tackle, pretty good in the air, can pick a pass and magic feet. He may have to tone down his aggression slightly as I can see him picking up quite a few yellow cards and obviously cut out the diving!

Jam back to his best after the disappointing performances towards the end of last season.
Now THIS is the man Newcastle fans had been saying “Future England Captain”
    Captain Courageous is back, lads.

I also voted for Merino, as I felt despite the dive, he was immense in the middle for us. To be honest, he already has so much more in his locker than Shelvey, as his ability to break up play and give it simple helped us out quite a number of times yesterday.

Lascelles proved me wrong yesterday and I am absolutely delighted for it. I hammered his distribution after the first couple of games (and I believe rightly so), however yesterday he was brilliant, even with his distribution. That dinked ball he played up to Perez, I think, in the second half was a beaut.
