Alan Shearer Reacts To Newcastle’s Third Win On The Trot

Newcastle fan and icon Alan Shearer reacted to Newcastle winning our third league game on the trot for almost four years by congratulating captain Jamaal Lascelles on the winner.

Alan congratulated captain Jamaal Lascelles with scoring the winner – a header from a Matt Ritchie corner for the second successive game.

Matt got two assists today as he set up the first goal with another terrific cross from the right that Christian Atsu hit home on the volley from close range.

Alan Shearer – well done Lascelles

Rafa wants to bring Xisco back here. He’s banged in 63 goals since he left. Wasn’t given a chance. Good player.

Ritchie is just absolutely brilliant. He has so many assists for us and his stamina and work rate is unbelievable. What an icon. He runs himself to the ground every single game. Immense.

Ritchie for me too interesting how earlier lascelles said him and Ritchie had a barny in training but sorted it out afterwards again shows the type of players we want here and dare I say the kind of players Leicester won the league with and why arsenal have failed recently

We may laugh at Sissoko, but when it comes to heavy touches, there’s no one better.

Very good result and fourth in the league.
Other teams at their peril will allow Lascelles a run after a corner or a free kick. Especially with poorly executed zonal marking.
He’ll be getting blocked from now on.

Yeah Ritchie is brilliant, graft, heart and quality rolled into 1 player.

Can’t remember who it was at the start of the season when I was doing a squad comparison with the team that started the 15/16 season, but they claimed Sissoko/Ritchie on the RW were different types of players but on parity in ability – give me an intelligent footballer with the right attitude, team ethos and a sweetleft peg over a player whose talents would be more suited to the NFL – they’re nigh and day in footballing ability.

Said he’d eclipse his own (from his one Bournemouth season in EPL) and Sissoko’s best stats for a season if he stays fit. Well 4 assists and counting, most Sissoko ever got was 7.

That’s just barebones stats, what he brings as a player is above and beyond.

Lascelles is growing rapidly in stature as a leader. we’ve finally got a proper one since Nolan vacated.

I’m just kidding, it does troubles me a little that we are struggling to get the goals from attackers, and instead defenders and midfielders are doing the task.

We were superb today. What a game. The scoreline flattered Stoke, however they woke up in the second half. A deserved win and the only negative point is was the fact we should have won by more and put the game to bed before half time.

    Just got in
Very enjoyable game topped with a great result – well worth the three points.
Started off slowly let Stoke have too much possession until we scored then we should of been at least three up before half time.
Great build up for first goal Mbemba seeking out Ritchie who’s cross was superb with Atsu timing his run perfect – class goal.
If only Joselu could put the ball in the net he would be worth a fortune – has great movement control and vision also excellent in the air but but got to convert the chances he gets.
Thought Merino is getting better by the game could give Shelvey a lesson on how to drift into space to pick the ball up.

Ref was SHITE – should of had a penalty and twice there last man pulled back our attackers – lucky to have 11 left on the field

    merit marks

Elliot 8 – when called into action did brilliantly – unsighted for their goal which was a decent strike from moaner roller Shitquri
MBemba 8 slotted straight back in excelled all game great to see a ‘ful-back’ who is comfortable on the ball
Clark 8 – went un-noticed but steady as a rock
Lassalles 8 – another captains display capped with another goal
Yeldrin 8.5 – another who came straight in from last season – tormented their defence going forward and defended well – I gave him MOTM for being away so long and slotted straight into the back-four
Ritchie 8.5 – another excellent game great cross for first goal and also for Lascalles winner.
Hayden 6 – struggled in midfield today – did not look up to the pace – gave to many free kicks away
Merino 8.5 – this lad is class and getting better by the game – non stop energy drifts into space picks the ball up and rarely gives a bad pass. likes to get stuck in to
Atsu 8- great first half and a excellent finish for the first goal had the beating of their defenders.Unlucky not to win a penalty
Perez 8 – best game this season so far took his ‘offside goal’ well chased harried closed down and liked up well with Joselu
Joselu 8 – would of been my star man if he had put his chances away lovely to watch him drifting along their back four good passer of the ball holds it up well good in the air only if only he could put his chances away.

Shelvey – 5 found it hard to get to the pace and Newcastles movement and running
Gayle – 5 looks like he has got his confidence back should of had a free kick near the end and their player should of seen red for pulling him back when had run on goal.
Diame – not on long enough.

All in all excellent performance after we scored more of the sae please – Joy to watch this season when they get into their stride.
Rafa – 8 surprised me with his choice of full backs – but was a star move both played really well.
Ref 2 – for turning up – tried his best to give Stoke the game.

See slaverchops redknap been sacked at Birmingham

Wish those who have started criticising Joselu would spend a little time thinking about what he does achieve, rather than the chances he fails to put away. His layoffs, threat in the air, positioning and finding spaces constantly put the opposition defence under pressure and must eventually lead to more goals for the whole strike force.
Much as I enjoy watching Mitro (who may be a better goalscorer per se), imho Joselu gives the team a lot more at the moment.

Mitro’s had plenty of matches in B&W like Joselu did today whilst also not providing us the stable platform Joselu does. He’ll start vs Brighton again, think those criticising too harshly are just being reactionary.

Would love a win there. 12pts after 6 games has a nice sound to it. Would also set up the Liverpool match very nicely.
