Not for the first time this season our Man of the Match is Matt Ritchie.
Matt was a bargain buy from Bournemouth last year and in the 2-1 win yesterday against Stoke City at At. James’ Park he set up both goals. – one for Christian Atsu and then the winner for captain Jamaal Lascelles.
One was for Christian Atsu after 19 minutes, and the other was the winner for captain Jamaal Lascelles after 68 minutes.
And it was the second game in a row the combination of a right-wing corner from Matt Ritchie and a Jamaal Lascelles header won the game for the Magpies.
Matt Ritchie – Man of the Match
Matt Ritchie’s crosses were continually dangerous, and Matt got 47% of the vote.
Captain Jamaal Lascelles was second in the voting with 22% in what was another great win for Newcastle United.
We are still 4th in the league table after Arsenal and Chelsea drew 0-0 this afternoon at Stamford Bridge, and we are just one point behind the Blues.

Comment #42I’m pretty sure the tv companies would probably be using the clear voice technology, so you can hear the commentators clearly and you don’t pick up much foul language and stuff. So the crowd noise will be turned down a notch it that’s a case.
You’ll no what I mean if you’ve got a flash tv (not you Tsunki) and have fiddled with the sound settings during a game. Certain options will heighten the crowd noise and lower the commentary noise and vice versa.
I could be taking shite though, so I wouldn’t take that as Gospel.

Comment #43Been away for the last week and have finally got to watch the Swansea game which I recorded.
Just a few points:-
Swansea are not a sh!te team, it was a good hard fought win for us.
The Merino fall was not a dive and should have been a pen, the defender pulled his arm back as he was going past him at speed knocking him off balance and causing him to go down.
Perez had a fantastic game, he put as much work in as Ritchie, don’t see why some fans criticize him.
And of course Lascelles is justifying his purchase big time.
Looking forward to watching the the Stoke game on NUFC TV

Comment #49Yeah I’ve had a few cappuccinos and espressos in Tsunkis house and he’s got a very old tv that looks like a fish tank.
He’s got a tennis ball on a bit a string for when it’s on the blink. Two serves of the tennis ball usually sorts it out and he doesn’t have to leave the armchair.
And yes he makes a nice bowl of coco pops and a mean jam pop tart.

Comment #50My Tv is a fish tank Belfast and you know it.
If you get some of the foreign streams you get the crowd input all right, you can hear them effing and blinding like a dockyard boozer ha ha. Not surprised sky fun in genetic crowd noise. That’s what Hail is listening to, the plank is a full time loser since he lost his way as jail’s stalker. 🙂

Comment #51Checking motd yesterday and it was the first time I got a good look at Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Very impressed with his play and if we have any chance of signing him we should do it.
Looks like a player that could easily go on to be a Lampard. A technical player with good size and a good shot.

Comment #53Depends what type of box you’ve got. There’s loads out there.
Probably best just googling the model and the problem tbh.
Mine’s on it’s last legs (android 4.4 kitkat which I can’t update and you need 5 or higher for a stable kodi 17.4 (still running 16.1 Jarvis ffs) loadsa issues at the moment even with builds. I tried a new one just in time for the match, found a few shitty buffering streams.
Showbox for movies and tv still works though 🙂
Think a firestick is in order for me

Comment #55Cheers for those highlights Ron, jeez those chances from Joselu weren’t good, hope it doesn’t affect his confidence.

Comment #56None of the three were exactly the gimmes the commentators claimed, but if he’d at least got them on target he’d have scored at least one. Gayle, who I prefer least of our 3 strikers, would have converted one or more of them you’d have to think. We are better overall with Joselu up top I think, as we are with Mitro, almost counterintuitively so, but we are better than the sum of our parts with a target man, particularly with the intelligent movement and link up play of Joselu. Still, if he wants the shirt long term he’ll need to do better in front of goal.

Seems Longstaff is attracting interest from PL clubs…how old is the lad. I know he signed an extension this summer before he was send out on loan to a league 1 team!
Would he be able to step up or is it too much to ask? League 1 is a long way from the PL

Premier League is suddenly child’s play for youthful Newcastle — skipper Jamaal Lascelles explains how they are doing it.
Magpies have rattled off three wins in a row to go fourth while fielding the top flight’s youngest outfield starting line-up. Jamaal Lascelles has revealed the blueprint that has pushed in-form Newcastle to fourth place.
Boss Rafa Benitez has the youngest outfield starting line-up in the Premier League — with an average age of just 24.4 years. That guarantees hunger, industry and a desire to improve… with no big-time superstars to wreck team spirit. Throw in a belief in Benitez’s methods, and it’s no wonder skipper Lascelles thinks his Magpies will prosper this season.
Defender Lascelles is 23, play-maker Mikel Merino is 21, Isaac Hayden 22, Chancel Mbemba 23 and Christian Atsu 25. Lascelles joked: “Only Matt Ritchie spoils it,” yet Ritchie is just 28, and has been United’s chief goal-maker (11 assists to his name) in the past year.
How far youthful exuberance and team spirit can take this team remains to be seen. Survival is still the main target following promotion in May. But, after three straight wins — including Saturday’s 2-1 defeat of visitors Stoke — the Toon Army are dreaming of a push for Europe.
“We’ve got such a young team and I think it gives us a big advantage in terms of energy – that counts when we play against teams a little bit older,” said Lascelles. “We can really get about the pitch and get down in people’s boots.
“Our inexperience is a strength. The energy is there but we do have our own experience.
“We have big characters and a good mentality, no big-time players. Everybody has to work 110 per cent – if they don’t, they will be sat on the bench. We don’t want to get too carried away but we’re definitely on the up.”
Atsu opened the scoring from Ritchie’s cross and, after Joselu missed three good chances to double the lead, Xherdan Shaqiri equalised in the 57th minute.
Inspirational Lascelles, who also scored the winner at Swansea a week ago, repeated his heroics on Tyneside, heading the decisive goal 10 minute later. In their last top-flight campaign, 2015-16, it took doomed Newcastle until November 7 to get to nine points — now they’re already there, with September barely half-gone.
Lascelles added: “Two seasons ago, it would have been a different story after they equalised. Back then, heads would drop if a side equalised against us and we’d be looking around each other asking ‘who is going to step up?’
“But it’s not like that now. Individually and collectively, we roll up our sleeves and keep going. We know that we’re going to get another chance and we’ve got players on the bench who are itching to come on”.
“It’s not like it was. We’re different players with a different mentality and we keep fighting until the final whistle goes.” Lascelles said: “Of course people want you to sign players for £25million and bring in big names but we’re working with what we’ve got. It’s a similar squad to last year with a few added players who have helped us. The success of last season has given us momentum. “As players, we know we’re good enough to give anyone a good run”.

Comment #60Ron…sometimes I just wondered if it would be better to integrate some youngsters than to keep players around that won’t be a part of the season anyway…
But the games will be good for young Longstaff. Armstrong doesn’t seem to doing great though!
