Happy Newcastle Fans Make Several Good Points This Sunny Monday Morning

Newcastle fans have made some excellent points today on Twitter as we all reflect on three great wins in a row and the team is in 4th place in the Premier League.

Warning – most pundits say it will not last.

Yeah – right!!

The lads have been playing good solid football, and we have deserved all three wins although the last two at Swansea and at home to Stoke on Saturday have been tough.

But Swansea showed they are a good side on Saturday by getting a good 0-0 draw at Tottenham, and they were solid in defense and well organized in that game.

Newcastle fans

It shows what an excellent win we had in south Wales a week ago.

Nest up are Brighton & Hove Albion and Chris Hughton away next Sunday but first of all, read some of the fans’ inciteful comments this morning.

Teeside??

    On some recent stuff:

Agreed. Ritchie has to be our best player, he wouldn’t shame himself in most any team.

Will the bubble burst? Probably man, but live in the now. We’re fourth, it’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed looking at the PL table.

    What has changed?

In back, not much. Why should it? We have the best defense we’ve had for years (ever?) And the subs are just as good. Eg. The two CBs have been outstanding, it would be cruel to replace either.

I know it’s controversial but Merino is twice the player Shelvey is, at least in terms of first impressions. I won’t get into specifics right now, but the team is better linked and it doesn’t have that soft underbelly.

I won’t criticise Joselu, all CFs miss those, and that position is about confidence. Imagine what the fans would be saying had that been Mitrovic. Both those people should get equal time. Our next CF should be an Aguero Bellamy. How much can that cost? Come on Rafa, and we don’t need a keeper, man
    ?

TEESSIDE?!!! Wtf is he on? 🙂 Does he know he just insulted an entire region? Muppet.

On a roll this morning Ed 🙂 Hope you’re as well today as can be expected. Nowt like a good win to help though eh?
What a change after the meltdown following the window closing. Rafa blowing away the doom n gloom the best way possible.
Remember the famous saying ‘you win nowt with kids’? Well, not saying we will win anything silver, but Rafa has certainly won the hearts of a region with his team of young men. Just need to make sure we keep our feet on the ground.
How we do against the big boys is pretty much neither here nor there. It’s beating those around us that really matters. We might struggle against the teams who’ve spent the GDP of a small country, but so will those we’re fighting against. Anything we pick up against them is a bonus anyway and we certainly won’t fear them. Starting with Liverpool in two weeks. Sold out already. 🙂

Anyone know if Aarons is injured?
Was hoping he’d have gotten a bit of game time by now. But he’s not even made the bench.

Switch, he played for the U23 side last week mate, but only played the first half and didn’t do anything special.
Why he only played half the game I don’t know, so he may have picked up a knock I suppose.

Matt Ritchie is doing an interview on Talksport later this morning, if anyone is near a radio.

Brighton haven’t got the best of starts and we are oozing of confidence at the moment…the Brighton game couldn’t come at a better time…

Shelvey is back and hopefully he’s ready…mentally, and is Mitro back already or is he sitting out one more game?

On stats so far this season:

only Man Utd’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan has more assist than Matt Richie…Matt has 4 assists.

Last season, Matt Ritchie produced 12 goals and 7 assists, whilst in Bournemouth’s promotion season of 2014/15 it was a staggering 15 goals and 17 assists for Ritchie.

Both Gilliead, Longstaff and Toney are doing great in League 1, but can they make transition other youngsters at Newcastle have failed to do before including our very own Armstrong who seems to struggle in the Championship!

Pablos…Ron is very good at keeping track of it all and he send me a link to Nufc Tv…they were showing the game…

…I sadly missed it, but both Shelvey and Aarons played…sadly Aarons was pulled a half time I believe and so was Sterry. Can’t remember if that was the game Good got injured in…

He’s probably finished for the season now…

Blast. Got taxi duties to perform again. 🙂 Got the radio though, so won’t miss Matt’s interview at least. Still can’t understand why he doesn’t start for Scotland more. Far better than anything they’ve got currently, but the manager is a bit of a clown like. 🙂 Later lads.

It’s a shame that we haven’t got Everton next up seeing that they are all over the place, like Stoke they have next to no pace at all which suits us fine.

I’ve always been one to criticise Ritchie, but I must say when we have pace on the other flank and a big man up front, he’s able to get involved a lot more. He’s been quality.

It annoys me when I see Gayle come on, want rid of him, said it as soon as we were promoted, offers nothing.
A big man who can do more than score tap ins is more important than a tap in merchant nowadays.

And as for Aarons, can people just accept the fact he won’t make the grade and looked better at 17?
Same goes with Armstrong. You can tell he isn’t going to make it, he’ll be at League 1 soon, or even league 2 like Adam Campbell did. Just let them go for goodness sake.

Hardly fair to judge Arma playing for a team guaranteed relegation. He ripped the first division one, but any striker is only as good as the service he gets. First Barnsley, now Bolton. Not being served very well at all.

Tika, the lad’s only twenty ffs. Playing in a side destined to go down already. The way you criticised Ritchie hardly marks you out as a good judge of talent does it? 🙂
He needs to be playing in a side capable of picking out his clever runs. He’s not been served well in his last two loans.

It wasn’t that I criticised Ritchie as a player and talent. it was down to the fact having no pace in the team, and things like that.

And Armstrong has just always looked amateur. The way he shoots/passes/decisions, it’s all scrappy and just not good enough, it’s clear to see. Doesn’t help that he’s about 4 foot 8 either.

Tiki…Gayle did great last season I’ll admit that and he knows the Championship and he’s a great fit for it…

…I said when we bought him that he’s not PL quality and that was my only concern with him…we would have to upgrade him when promoted (Rafa knows that but it was easier said than done)

Our very own blog googler Jeff though is not very good paraphrasing so he keeps saying I thought he was a poor buy for the Championship…

Being a Scotland man lads Strachan is an idiot hes made so many bad calls this campaign and he only started picking teams that went out to attack when he thought we were done for and he was getting the sack! T

Richie seems to have been sacrificed as a starter which actually started his poor form for a little bit in the championship but he came roaring back !He comes on to see games out recently

The problem Richie does have is that we don’t have a natural right back so he has struggled to get involved in games when he did start although Tierney is now being shoe horned in which would probably benefit each of them as Forrest has no end product on the wing

From what I’ve seen here and there, it would appear Arma isn’t actually getting much game time at the moment.
Pretty hard to score when you aren’t even on the pitch. And hard to say he mustn’t be doing very well in training, without knowing what kind of striking preferences the manager has.
Makes you wonder if he wouldn’t be better off learning from Rafa and his team.

I have to say that Armstrong hasn’t for me shown enough to suggest that he could make it it the PL, sorry Bobbybee, hope I wrong as you really do rate the lad, but for me Arrons has shown more than enough to suggest that he can make it at the top level, his pace is good, his ability to cross wit pace whilst keeping the bvall at a good height and not skying it high and wide is terrific and he does get a fair share of goals as well, the lad has everything.

The only problem with Arsons is his injury record but being so young he has time to overcome this issue, look at Gareth Bale, was there ever a player as injury prone as he was at an early age, I very much doubt it but look at him now, do not give up on Arrons, he is a class act.

Wayne rooney has more points than everton this season but i wont mock him for it and dont expect him to mock us.
People in brass houses shouldnt throw stones 🙂

Dont expect us to stay 4th but if we can grab another 3 points from the next couple of games i will be well chuffed. The quicker we grab the 40 points needed the better and then we can build on and really have a pop at the top of the table.

Its a great feeling knowing we have a squad that wants to be wors and that loves the club like we do 🙂 long may it continue.

I said in an earlier post we our first target should be the 40 points, I hope this is reached mid March, to give us a “relaxed” end to the season. We have 9pts from 5 games, that’ll do me for a start, far too earlier to begin to extrapolate. Still 25 games until mid March and 31 points would be ideal, well less than 1.5 per game.
I’m really hoping for comfortable mid table finish, £130M pound in the bank and good moves in the Summer window.

    O\T Tsunki,

Basically Ashley needs a visit from the ghosts of past present and future to ensure that he does everything in his power to keep Rafa happy, what a team we could become with Rafa given the right tools instead of ‘The Board’ deciding we do or don’t need another keeper.

We do play a high energy covering and breaking game so burn-out and injuries are an issue, but one good thing about being in the Premier League is the fewer games that have to be played. Much as I enjoyed the 46 game championship season with more mid-week fixtures, it was bound to lead to tiredness and injuries, not to mention suspensions. At least there is usually a whole week between games. You only have to be concerned about mid-week league cup games (whoops!) or European games (ha-de-ha!).
I’ve seen one or two neggers on other blogs going on about how lucky we were against Stoke because they missed 2 chances and Elliott made a good save. Errmm, if we were lucky because they missed chances then surely Stoke were lucky because we missed 3 chances, never mind the penalty and several pull-backs preventing our players going clear. Therefore, the result is genuine and we deserved to win. Q.E.D.
    I thangyou!

Just loving it now. When was the last time we had a team who fought so hard for each other. As I said previously I don’t think we need a goalkeeper with any great urgency but a pacy left back and a winger to ease the burden on that remarkable man ritchie would be nice. I guess Joselu has until January to prove we don’t need a striker but rafa will surely want a big pacy striker in the summer? Joselu is good though. Decent touch and he ain’t slow. Must be great for ritchie. As for merino, what a signing. Hats off rafa

Munster …a great new GK was never priority or should have been with the current funds available…still not sure what has gone wrong for Darlow?

I would expect us to look at a an improvement in the GK department next summer, but for now I would prefer attention being turned towards someone who can actually score
