Newcastle scouts are checking on some players at the moment for possible acquisition in January and next Summer’s transfer window.
It seems we could do with at least another striker and a specialist left-back brought in during the January transfer window to augment the team.
And the Chronicle reported last week that Rafa also wanted a creative midfielder brought in during January.
And it seems that Newcastle have been watching Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, Valon Berisha.
That was Red Bull Salzburg’s Europa League group game against Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal a couple of weeks ago.
As it turned out Berisha scored Salzburg’s goal in the 1-1 draw.
The 24-year-old Kosovo and former Norwegian International, has been at Red Bull since 2012, and during that time he’s played 190 times with 34 goals and 56 assists.
Berisha was born in Sweden to Kosovar immigrants of Albanian ethnicity.
And he was raised in Norway and played for all of the Norwegian Youth sides.
Red Bull Salzburg midfielder – Valon Berisha
The Sun reported on August 31st that Newcastle were interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Valon Berisha on the very last day of the summer transfer window, but nothing materialized.
But it could be Newcastle will follow up in January and try to sign the midfielder then.
Leicester City were also said to be interested, and the report was that Newcastle were keen to get the player on loan for the season, with an option to buy for £12M.
We may try to do that same deal in January so Rafa will have half a season to look at the player before he decides if he should sign him permanently ion the summer.
It would be terrific if Newcastle can strengthen the squad early next year with say three good players.
We are hoping that owner Mike Ashley will step up to the plate for Rafa in January.
