Newcastle Watching Salzburg Star – For January Acquisition?

Newcastle scouts are checking on some players at the moment for possible acquisition in January and next Summer’s transfer window.

It seems we could do with at least another striker and a specialist left-back brought in during the January transfer window to augment the team.

And the Chronicle reported last week that Rafa also wanted a creative midfielder brought in during January.

And it seems that Newcastle have been watching Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, Valon Berisha.

That was Red Bull Salzburg’s Europa League group game against Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal a couple of weeks ago.

As it turned out Berisha scored Salzburg’s goal in the 1-1 draw.

The 24-year-old Kosovo and former Norwegian International, has been at Red Bull since 2012, and during that time he’s played 190 times with 34 goals and 56 assists.

Berisha was born in Sweden to Kosovar immigrants of Albanian ethnicity.

And he was raised in Norway and played for all of the Norwegian Youth sides.

Red Bull Salzburg midfielder – Valon Berisha

The Sun reported on August 31st that Newcastle were interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Valon Berisha on the very last day of the summer transfer window, but nothing materialized.

But it could be Newcastle will follow up in January and try to sign the midfielder then.

Leicester City were also said to be interested, and the report was that Newcastle were keen to get the player on loan for the season, with an option to buy for £12M.

We may try to do that same deal in January so Rafa will have half a season to look at the player before he decides if he should sign him permanently ion the summer.

It would be terrific if Newcastle can strengthen the squad early next year with say three good players.

We are hoping that owner Mike Ashley will step up to the plate for Rafa in January.

I was wondering how they identify incidents. There was the huddesfield player who stamped on Hayden. Worst of the three, but no retrospective and wasn’t reviewed by tv. If they wanted to check thoroughly, they wouldn’t even have to watch all the matches, just look on a # for each club on twitter and look for whiney tweets.

We’ve got no money for January anyway, unless of course we’re in a relegation spot. Then the money that we can’t spend because we don’t have it yet will magically appear.

For Sunday’s game one thing we definitely don’t need is gamez playing LB, seriously those picking him to play ahead if mbemba confuse me. Gamez slowest full back we have against Mane and Salah arguably the 2 quickest players out wide.

Mbemba got caught under the ball for the cross yesterday but he dealt with knockaert well, rarely did the Belgian get past him meaning he was restricted to float around and then subbed off.

Why so much Anti Colback angst, I reckon he would do a good job for us in the first team, he’s nowhere near as bad a player as many on here keep saying.

But toon dominating. Saivet looking canny. He and Wor Jack, (soon to be the prodigal son), controlling the middle of the park.

West Brom playing 5 defenders and 3 defensive midfielders against Arsenal. That should be an interesting match up for contrasting styles.

Looks like the Ref is giving Arsenal a helping hand so far in tonight’s game, so nothing new there then.
Sooner we get TMO’s the better or that the FA review all content of all games for foul play even if the refs deal with with in play incidents such as penalty claims etc

I didn’t expect you to mate, I don’t like colback as I don’t think he’s good at tackling, gives away needless fouls which creates more problems. Runs around like a headless chicken but leaves gaps in midfield, wasn’t long ago he was telling us lot to shut up.

I respect your opinion though mate, much like Perez I just don’t see what value he actually adds to the team. I think is have to think long and hard as to whether I prefer him over Diame though.

The U23s who had virtually a full 1st team out have lost to a team of Wolves youngsters.

We had most of the play and guess what…………………………………………………………………yes we couldn’t put the ball into the net, does that sound familiar?

If Rodriguez hasn’t been so keen to get back on his feet to score he’d have had a pen. To eager Rodriguez but England international Livermore should have scored. No idea how that lad is an England international
