Jamie Carragher Has Some Good News, Bad News For Newcastle

The majority of Newcastle fans don’t think that Mike Ashley has enough ambition at Newcastle.

That’s one reason why we have been in the top nine in the Premier League only once in his 10-year tenure and have been relegated twice.

And we have fought against relegation in other seasons too and just about survived.

One of his former players Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Monday Night Football that Newcastle will stay in the Premier League.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that he doesn’t think Rafa Benitez will stay long term at the club.

And there is news today that Newcastle will soon try to tie Rafa down to a long-term contract at the club.

This is some of what Jamie has said on Monday Night Football last night:

“I don’t think there’s any chance of Newcastle going down just because of the manager, he’s very pragmatic, he’ll make it very difficult.”

“I don’t think Liverpool have got an easy game going to St James’ at the weekend because you’ve seen how it was with Tottenham before they went down to 10 men,”

“Every game Newcastle have, you rarely see them lose 4 or 5-0 as you might see teams in the bottom half of the table.”

“I think that’s where Newcastle will do. I don’t expect to see them in a relegation fight.”

“But if I’m being totally honest, I don’t see Rafa Benitez at Newcastle over a sustained long period of time.”

“I think eventually something will happen with him and the owner.”

“And I think unfortunately for Newcastle, it’s not going to be a happy and long marriage so enjoy it while he’s here.”

Whether Rafa stays or not could even depend on how well we do this season.

And if he can get Newcastle in the top eight in the Premier League he may even think he can still achieve his ambition to make Newcastle into a great team again.

That’s even if Mike Ashley stays on board.

Hope so.

Unless he signs a new deal by the end of the season then I think you’re right Jamie, in whatever language that is you prattle on in.

I’ve never understood these better the devil you knowers. They’d rather have a lying ambitionless toerag running the show just because they know he’s going to decieve the manager. Rather than have knew owners who just may turn out to be the new Venky’s.

What logic makes it preferable to have an owner in charge you know is going to let you down rather than one who might?

Jail there’s little to incentivise Bobby to return and others thinking whether to come, stay or go!
To continue to constantly try to find any angle or link in order to bang on endlessly about Ashley is plain boring.
However if you’re going to say something new and insightful then so be it.
