Paul Merson Predicts Newcastle vs Liverpool

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is not a big fan of Newcastle United, and he has predicted the outcome of our game against Liverpool at home on Sunday – the last PL game to be played before the International break.

And would you believe it – no shocks from Paul – as he predicts Liverpool will be able to beat us fairly easily.

Paul reminds us of David Prutton last season when David would hardly ever predict us to win and seemed to favor Brighton and Huddersfield over Newcastle – at least in his predictions.

Paul Merson – predicts another Newcastle defeat

Newcastle have only conceded more than one goal once in the Premier League this season.

That’s when we were down to 10 men against Spurs, but Paul thinks we will lose 3-1.

Here’s what Merson has to say on the Sky Sports website:

“Liverpool could have won 10-1 in the Champions League after the chances they created the other night.”

“With the attacking talent at their disposal they will always create chances and at St James’ Park I don’t see it being any different,”

“Newcastle, backed by their home crowd will also go for it which could play into Jurgen Klopp’s hands.”

“I did initially write down 3-0 to Liverpool but I’m going to have to change my mind to 3-1 because I don’t trust Liverpool at the back. ( well – thanks a lot)”

“However Liverpool are class going forward and I’d be shocked if Newcastle coped with them.”

We will have to play an awful lot better than we did at Brighton last Sunday otherwise Paul could well be right in his prediction – even with the scoreline.

We are hoping for a win.

    Tunski,

he is a defender, his main job is to stop them going in his end of the pitch, scoring at the other end is a bonus. i hold Lascelles responsible for at least 2 of our goals against , and i think he panicked last week v Brighton, he ran backwards towards our goal.

someone like terry was head shoulders above Lascelles at both ends of the pitch at the same age.

why would any manager tell a player to tell the world about a scoring technique? wouldn’t he just work on other ones and have more options instead of restricting his options, maybe i wouldn’t waste time on your other thoughts, think about clowns ? lol.

    Essex

he has peaked , i’m still waiting for shola to kick on man.

I predict a high scoring affair even though we dont let many in. A 4-3 win to the toon with 4 different scorers for us. Heres hoping. CAC.

Between Merson and Prutton, they mustn’t have a miserable existence. Predicting our results must be the only pleasure they get.
