Newcastle Have Already Identified January Transfer Targets

Newcastle United have been very busy scouting new players since the summer transfer window ended in disappointment for Rafa Benitez.

Our scouts have been seen at some European ties this season as we watch potential targets for January.

Rafa was unable to sign a number of his top targets in the summer, and he said the way the club does their transfer business has to change.

So we hope it will have changed once January arrives.

The news in the Chronicle today is that we have already identified potential January transfer targets.

Sampdoria’s Dennis Praet – a target for January?

This is some of what Rafa said yesterday as reported in the Chronicle today:

“Are we working for the January transfer window? Yes, we are already working on that,”

“Like the majority of the teams, we are monitoring players and that is the main thing.”

“I am not thinking about January now, believe me, I am thinking about this game and what we have to do.”

“I was watching Liverpool against Spartak Moscow, preparing the clips and the training sessions.”

“The practical work with my players is to be sure that we have a strong team to deal with Liverpool.”

“But the other things – and again I will say, it’s experience.” “One week changes everything and we have to concentrate on that.”

It does seem that Newcastle will make an attempt to strengthen the squad (significantly?) in January.

And it will be worth our while to do that with every league position being worth around £3M when you look at last May’s allocation of the TV rights money to the Premier League clubs.

It would be great if we can finish this season with three successive wins, as we did last season.

That would net us a lot of extra TV rights money – for Rafa to spend next summer.

The club don’t buy in January unless we are in trouble but they don’t employ PR guys for nothing

Wonder who will be ‘buying us in December to excuse any investment. My bet is on a mystery American this time

    Mindshaft,
We don’t even know what’s going on at the club, have Ashley and Rafa even spoke since May. What is certain though if nothing has changed is that Ashley will see where we are in January. If there’s deemed to be enough points on the board to see us safe Rafa will be strung along till deadline day before being told to get on with it. The summer will be another depressing repeat of this summer where only bargains and perceived sell one will be bought. I hoped and prayed things had changed with Rafas arrival, last January and this summer’s window showed me nothing has, Ashley will keep calling Rafas bluff until he sees out his contract.

I like how Ed has covered himself by stating “make an attempt”

When will people ever learn, a leopard never changes its spots, the next time we spend big in a window will be with a different owner to the one we have now, let’s hope a new owner is near and this new owner whoever it may be is a big spender.

People pointing the finger at Rafa over Murphy need to remember that Townsend would have been here last January helping us to a record points tally if Rafa got his way. Secondly Murphy may well come good.

How very odd, toontaff2 has not been pissin’ and moaning about people on the blog this morning. You know the types, talking politics, philosophy, psychology, Multiple IDs, theology, finances, and whatnot.

Fully in the happy clapper camp this morning lads. Just while complaining about everybody on the blog. What is all this business about multiple IDs anyway? Bunch of paranoids on this blog. Why are the numbers down anyway. Hold on whilst I go back and do a calculation of posts by percentages.

    **30 minutes later**

We have a few super posters. 240 posts last night, the majority made up by two posters, who posted 56 posts between them, posting nearly 60% between them. >.<

Praet has a release clause of €25 million
I think returning for him could depend on
    several factors
the exchange rate in Jan 2018
how much we could get for Shelvey
    our league position
injuries after winter takes it’s toll
