Newcastle 1 Liverpool 1 – Video Highlights

Here are the video highlights – below the photograph of Joselu – of the 1-1 draw with Liverpool today from Sky Sports – it was a hard-won point for Newcastle for sure.

But we’ll take it along with our rather lucky goal – but they all count!

I’ve gone for Perez for the man of the match. Because once again he proves to be a waste of a shirt.
Hopefully it was noted by a potential owner that he really needs replacing

not great for joselu really missed quite a few chances and both his goals have been lucky but he has been getting in good positions
mitro would get a load of abuse for the same tho
so do people think we are in line for a saudi rich takeover then?

wat gets me chancel is that yellow card was for kicking the ball away straight after the whistle which is for wasting time yet the ref stopped at least 2 of our quick free kicks which weren’t even that quick and pulled them back!
    thats bloody time wasting!

As craig pawson was doing his 12th man for the bindippers act I thought we fought really hard for the point and deserved something.

The scouse cynical ‘defending’ approach was fcuking disgraceful. They were sh!te up front; couldn’t hit a barn door bar Coutinho. Wini did his usual disappearing act.

Yedlin, Shelvey and Ritchie were class.

    Hwtl.

And a great atmos at the game. You only heard them fcuking scruffs say anything when they scored. Nice touch re rafa, though.

Ritchie has to be #10 next game.

Blimey Ed running an Express service today?

I reckon Perez had a decent game, again. Shame his effort to catch the GK off the line went so astray, he’d have been a hero instead of getting all of the opprobrium from some bloggers.

Thought Elliot had a good game as well, might not get many votes for MOM but should figure in the top three.

I’d have voted for Shelvey on his 1st half performance but he struggled in the 2nd. Don’t know if he’d ran himself out or LPool did a job on him but he never seemed to have any time to be more creative.

At least we don’t have to sit and brood too much during the international break.

That says everything then mate and proves how little options Rafa has at his disposal.
Us as fans can’t be wrong that Perez gets slated most games on media yet still gets picked because we have no one else to bring in

Agree that refs are the biggest time wasters on the pitch. My Perez comment was more a joke about him kicking the ball away on our attacks.

If the percentage of points we’ve got so far on matches played continues then my prediction of 51 points is looking good.

Having said that I’d be more than happy if we picked up more and I got it wrong.

Tough game today and a great result. Shelvey showed his true class today. Merino struggled in possession with Liverpool’s fast pressing but his work rate was class.

Excellent result today, the performance was very good as well, Liverpool completely stifled. Well done rafa and the lads.

Perez once again the weakest link, A for effort for him as he puts a shift in but the lad is utter shite

The skinny Spanish waiter was pretty naff as usual Bill. He did run around and press a lot though to be fair to him, but the stuff you really want from a number 10, he just doesn’t have it in his locker. He’s a square peg in a round hole.

Plenty of takeover talk / rumours of investment. I can’t see anyone looking to match Ashley’s asking price so it’s probably going to be an investor rather than an outright buying of Ashley out

We just drew with a very strong Liverpool team and yet again people are slating our own players. Give it a rest. We could beat Man United 10-0 at Old Trafford and someone will find a player to pick on. Enjoy a hard fought point and move on to the next game. Most people had us to get destroyed Today but the lads had other ideas. Well played the Toon.

Perez was shite again worked hard ish but for 30k a week i’d at least some sort of effect at the other end which even at Brighton he didn’t do. Joselu can play no10 apparently why not try him with Mitro two big guys in the box for the crosses. Week in week out he is dire Sissoko had more of an impact in games for us.

would like to add, Sturridge should have been sent off for his high foot when Elliot saved. Pundits were saying the other week that Ritchie was lucky to stay on the pitch. Sturridge was close to taking Elliot’s head off. I will be expecting MotD to be bringing up later.

For me our standout performer was Yedlin, his pace to help his recover the ball or make last ditch tackles across the back 4 was critical to keep both mane and Salah very quiet.

Ashley will be asking for £380 million but it doesn’t mean he will get that.

I cannot see anything other than a takeover happening.

That Barnes fella then the announcement of parties signing ‘gagging contracts ‘ prior to looking at the books, now we have the ‘broker ‘ sat watching the game.

I expect an announcement this week, the international break will give the opportunity to get the ball moving.

Let’s hope it’s someone/consortium that HAS money and not just posh wallpaper !

Yedin was awesome today 2 of the best wingers in the Prem could not get past him even when he was the other side of the pitch ran across to stop Salah. Lascelles was tidy today also. Thought that was Clarks worst game for us nearly gifted them a goal and 2 pens for stupid pulling in the box Manquillo was dire but Yedlin helped him out.

Merino is great at the winning the ball back, Atsu was very poor today at least Ritchie was his normal work horse.

Did Ritchie get away with the high kick that did catch Mawson?

I don’t get this vendetta fans have with the media, we were punished for 2 idiots who lost there heads and rightly so. We’ve had a few dodgy decisions go against us but we’ve had some go for us.

If we were hated so much we wouldn’t be on TV again when the international break finishes.

A good point today and Joselu managed to find plenty of luck with that goal but I’m happy to go into this break with a very good start to the season.

From her write up, Amanda looks like someone who is prepared to take a risk. Although the Toon wouldn’t be a big risk and the asking price is well within her financial scope.

As John Luc Picard would say, ‘Make it so’

Did the chronicle not report that no one has got near to matching Ashley’s asking price?

Everton bought on board a very wealthy investor and he’s ploughed money into them, I wonder if Ashley has seen that as the easy option for him not to spend his money but to remain as majority shareholder

Between Shelvey and Yedlin for me. Perez was his usual self, lightly jogging from side to side, sometimes even completing a pass, and very rarely mercilessly bringing down an opposition player by lightly jogging beside him.

Please, Rafa. I know you like Spaniards, but please put him on the wing, or on the bench.

He got booked, but the pundit view was he was lucky not to get a red. Nothing for this one, yet it’s a studs up challenge and potentially more dangerous with the keeper rushing in. You can see that Elliot is worried by the way shifts his head quickly after catching the ball. If only he could shift his feet that quickly.
