Newcastle were reported to be interested in signing French U21 winger of St Etienne last summer.
The news from France in June was that Newcastle were preparing a bid for the 21-year-old, who can play on either wing, so he is quite versatile.
L’Equipe are reporting that he is refusing to sign a new contract in France and could become a free agent in the summer.
These are exactly the types of player that Newcastle could sign in January.
Those players whose contracts run out next summer and clubs will be willing to sell in January and we’re sure that’s some of the thinking at Newcastle about which players they could entice to the club in January.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is said to be a big fan of the young winger.
21-year-old Jonathan Bamba
It’s not surprising that Saint-Etienne are trying to get him to sign a new deal, but they could lose out if Jonathan hasn’t signed a new deal by January.
The player is said to be interested to see what kind of clubs come in for him in January if he does not have a new deal to stay in France by then.
Bamba is of Ivorian descent but has so far played for all the French Youth sides and 4 times with 2 goals for the U21 side.
For the last couple of years, the 21-year-old has been on loan to Paris FC, Sint-Truiden and Angers.
He has played 22 times for with 5 goals and 2 assists for Saint Etienne so far.
What do you think?

Comment #2i know the blogs so called experts continue to breakdown our players performances and Rafa’s every decision.
But i took great pleasure out of our performance yesterday we all know we don’t have team of world beaters and upgrades are needed but we have players who want to be here and are proud to wear the shirt
Rafa is doing a great job with the resources he has available under a very difficult regime
101% for Rafa and the boys.
Apart from Perez, he’s been shite for a while, got slaughtered on Twitter yesterday and last week.

So Bick (?) was at the match was he? How d’you know that?
And, according to the press, the Club supports Gallowgate Flags and were relaxed about the new banner showing the words that Valencia fans used in support of Rafa. The comment from the Club was that the comment, about lies didn’t apply to anyone in particular.
Of course there’s no suggestion that there’s been any lying at Newcastle United. Hey ho.

Comment #11One thing that I found frustrating about our game on Sunday was the slowness of the team to take throw ins and when they did eventually get round to doing them as often as not the LPool players were able to win the ball back.
When they had throw ins they always seemed to be able to find an unmarked player and made better use of them.
Something Rafa needs to address imo.

Especially Perez, he’s been top notch for a while and got unfairly slaughtered on Twitter yesterday and last week.

Comment #14Why on earth would we want to spent $$$ signing another winger when Jacob Murphy, the winger we signed over the summer, can’t even get on the pitch?
