Jonjo Shelvey is our Man of the Match in his first start since the commencement of the season when we were at home to Spurs.
Jonjo cost us in that game when he managed to get himself sent off early in the second half when we were doing very well sticking to an excellent Rafa game plan.
But he showed his class on Sunday and got an assist with a superb through ball to Joselu who was then helped by Liverpool defender Joel Matip to put the ball into the back of the net for the equaLising goal.
Jonjo Shelvey got 32% of the vote and is our Man of the Match, and we need his creativity in the side.
MOTM Jonjo Shelvey congratulates goalscorer Joselu
Jonjo and Mikel Merino did well playing together but Mikel needs to time to adapt to playing with Shelvey.
And we have to remember the Spaniard still has a lot to learn and he’s only 21 – but he still had a good game.
Second in the voting was American DeAndre Yedlin who was simply outstanding at right back and he continues to get better under the guidance of Rafa Benitez.
That was one of the best games DeAndre has played for Newcastle.
He is a different player than the one that played for Sunderland two seasons ago on loan from Spurs.
Matt Ritchie is third in the voting and he had a typical game and worked his socks off for Newcastle and was all over the place putting his usual excellent shift in for the team.
Matt is very popular on Tyneside because he epitomizes the player our fans love to see – a classy player who works his socks off for the side in every single game.

Comment #42The only teams I’m scared of are the Manchester clubs. I seriously don’t see any big defeats from any other team. Gone are the days of being destroyed by Southampton. Just suddenly remembered that 8-1 vs Sunderland lmao.

Comment #43Okay so it turns out I was being generous towards Sunderland. It was actually 8-0. Yikes.

Comment #44Clarke made one mistake but otherwise had a good game, you have to remember that Liverpool brought on the Ox and Firmino whose fees alone were more than the whole toon team are worth combined
