If the only thing Newcastle do this season is to get our points off the bottom 14 clubs in the Premier League we could do very well – thank you very much.
We haven’t done too well against those teams so far having lost away at Brighton and Huddersfield and won at home to West Ham and Stoke, and we also won in south Wales against Swansea – always a tough place to bring home all 3 points.
But with a point at home on Sunday against Liverpool, we now have 10 points from our first 7 games and are 9th in the league table.
Most fans would be happy if we finish in that position next May and we would be due around £125M from the Premier League.
Bournemouth got £123.9M for finishing 9th last May in the first season of the new three year £5.1B TV rights deal.
Rafa Benitez – I want to be 5th top
When the Premier League gets underway again after the International break we are away at Southampton – always a challenging game for us – but it’s time we won at St. Mary’s.
Here are the next 4 games coming up before the next International break, and we have a good chance of getting a lot of points and even a chance of winning all 4 games.
These are our four upcoming fixtures:
Date Opposition Venue KO
Sun 15th Oct Southampton A 16:00 Sat 21st Oct Crystal Palace H 15:00 Mon 30th Oct Burnley A 20:00 Sat 4th Nov Bournemouth H 15:00
If we can do well in the next four games heaven knows where we could be in the league table on 4th November – at the moment we are 4 points out of 3rd place and Tottenham Hotspur.
How we do in these next four games should give us a good idea of how well we can do in the league this season.
