Former Striker On Why Newcastle Are Currently A Fantastic Buy

Like many Newcastle fans, former Newcastle striker Mick Quinn has never particularly liked Newcastle owner Mike Ashley.

And maybe that’s a huge understatement.

The truth is that Mike’s 10-year reign as Newcastle’s supremo has been little short of a disaster,.

We have finished in the top 9 of the Premier League only once and have been relegated twice – the only times we have been relegated from the Premier League since we joined back in 1993 when Kevin Keegan was the manager.

Mick has also brought out a hilarious video of why anybody interested in Newcastle should buy them.

Yesterday Mick was again on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT.

Mick Quinn on the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show

He had this to say about Mike Ashley and the possible takeover of the club by the well-respected financier Amanda Staveley:

“I hope he goes.”

“This lady (Amanda Staveley), she tried to buy Spurs, tried to buy Liverpool.”

“Newcastle I think is a fantastic club to buy.”

“You’ve got a guaranteed 52,000 people there.”

“It’s in the city-center.”

“There’s so many pluses to buying Newcastle United. “

“They’re back in the Premier League.”

“I hope this consortium goes through and Ashley just gets out.”

A huge majority of Newcastle fans are really hoping this deal goes through, and then we’ll have a great manager and an excellent owner.

What can stop us then?

The correct answer is listed below:

Nothing!

Howay The Bonnie Lads!!

    Futbalový štadion NTC Poprad

Merino should be playing in this game
Information is hard to come by
It’s certainly not televised (too many senior WCQ matches I think)

I totally agree with you MQ. We need people at the top that will treat the club as a club and not a business for making profit. As you have stated we have a fantastic following 52,000 which could be 100,000 if the stadium was big enough and Rafa the Gaffa at the helm.

Big Mick looks to be slimming down a bit there… Is he going to be our new striker?

He is right though… We are a stellar buy for anyone looking into the PL.

Catching up on the blog this morning and I get what Jesper is saying, by ways of how they extort their money through persecution, slave labour, arms smuggling, dirty wars and general human morality issues etc MA is unethical in a business sense and downright ruthless his issues aren’t life and death which in the grand scheme of things is less disgusting in what he is doing to us. I don’t like the guy but I would rather have a UK billionaire with a few quid to kill for his own enjoyment, ego and love of football… But that greatly reduces the potential suitors.

At £380m we could be bought by Staveley for example (who is after all an investment financier so she will be looking a return + profit ultimately) and set up like Manchester United and floated down the line again for stupid returns when the TV market price peaks giving a tasty return. Hypothetical I know but with the moneyball restructure like Liverpool and a float on the stock exchange like MU could be the end game.

I’m kind of just thinking out loud.

On the whole thing about Staveley getting the masses attention ridiculously aroused because she is attractive is a load of tosh. If it was a male investor who was giving us interest I think the Euphoria would be just the same with just as much man love flying around such is the general consensus among the faithful following!

You have to admit Amanda is very easy on the eyes and Ed can put as many pics up of her as he likes.
Makes a very welcome change from the daily sightings of the vile, odious MA. I didn’t add fat man so as not to offend obese people. Amanda is a fairytale waiting to happen and oh just for once please god a happy ending.

    Barca mag

I think maybe the latter, maybe Murphy’s struggling to step up at this point in time, going from 20k to 50k crowds, a more Spanish style etc, etc.

Why is the picture of Mickey Quinn when he’s talking about Amanda ?
Surely it should be her picture that’s in the frame.
Come on Ed, get a grip !

Lascelles is one of the names put forward for Septembers player of the month. Is up against some tough opposition though.

You must have led a very sheltered life (or be a bit of a prude)
if you think Mike Ashley is vile and odious.

He’s a bit of a prat and too fond of a drink.
He seems to have weight issues (probably to do with the above)

    But vile and odious ?

    NAH

All this enthusiasm for pictures of Amanda S must be painful for the Blog’s own person of wit, charm, eloquence and surely elegance.

Ed’s hits could increase dramatically if Jane’s photos were published.

Yes in an ideal world thats the way it should be, but im afraid football IS a business these days, but with emotion attached. and thats the bit ashley cant come to terms with

lesh @10 – very good point. I’ll see if I can organise a photo of Jane (it’s really Jib) and we could have a blog competition as to who is the prettiest/ most shagable.

To be fair his manners appear pretty vile eg vomiting into a fireplace for one and you can’t argue that he hasn’t treated us odiously with his lies and the contempt he has treated us fans with!

I think sheltered life is probably one of the last descriptions I’d use for myself. Being in the Falklands war saw to that.

Possibly more by association Ashley’s deeds and the company he keeps define him in a poor light, rather than the person himself. However, the words uttered by his pet Llambias ” they don’t know how horrible we can be ” still ring true.
