Newcastle Doing Well – But We Can Do Even Better In Premier League

Midfielder Mohamed Diame came on in the last few minutes of the game against Liverpool on Sunday, but he could still have been the hero if he had taken the chance from a corner with just over a minute of stoppage time to play.

The St. James’ Park crowd would have erupted if he had managed to score the winner, but it was not to be and to be fair to Diame, he had only just come on as a sub.

We are in what always seems to be a long International break, and Mo has been interviewed in the local papers about how Newcastle are doing so far this season.

Mo Diame misses late chance for Newcastle On Sunday

This is what Diame has said today:

“We’re very pleased. When you play at home, you always want to win, but against Liverpool, it’s a good point. The fighting spirit we showed is good for the future.”

“It’s a good start to have ten points. When you come back from the Championship, and you start a season like this, I think it’s always good for the future.”

“We just need to keep going and keep working.”

“The quality is the difference to the Championship.” “You saw the goal of Coutinho on Sunday.”

“They are massive players. They run quicker and they are more organized. You just need to make the step up.”

“Our effort levels were massive on Sunday. We were working all week about the shape of the team. The manager gave us some tactics.”

“We can see that it helped us a lot. We just need to keep going and keep fighting in the games we have coming up.”

“I think when you do well, and you’re happy with your performances, the international break doesn’t matter.”

“When you’re in a bad mood, it’s difficult to wait two weeks to play a game.”

“We are happy.”

We’ve done quite well so far to get 10 points from our first 7 games, but we can do even better with the four games coming up against the weaker teams in the league.

Here are the four game coming up, starting a week on Sunday at Southampton, before the next International break comes along in early November.

Date Opposition Venue KO
Sun 15th Oct Southampton A 16:00
Sat 21st Oct Crystal Palace H 15:00
Mon 30th Oct Burnley A 20:00
Sat 4th Nov Bournemouth H 15:00

How many points do you think we can take from these four games?
