Newcastle Scouts Out In Force Checking On Potential January Acquisitions

Austria will play Serbia today in World Cup qualification at the Viennese Ernst Happel Stadium, and it looks like there will be at least 20 top clubs represented at the game according to Kleine Zeitung.

Not surprisingly Newcastle are listed as one of the clubs whose scouts will be watching the game.

Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is likely to start for Serbia, and a win will see them qualify for the finals in Russia next summer.

Newcastle scouts have been busy since September watching players we could be going after either in January or next summer, and they will be busy over this two week International break.

In the unlikely event that we have new owners by January – Amanda Staveley is a name that comes to mind – we could have an injection of funds for Rafa to bring in some (very) good players – maybe players who will become free agents in the summer.

If we do not have a new owner, we’ll have to see much money Mike Ashley makes available to Rafa, but in the summer the manager spent only £12M net on new players.

And for that minuscule amount of money Rafa and Lee Charnley did well – in retrospect.

Rafa Benitez – will he get big money to spend in January?

But Newcastle didn’t get the two or three star players we were hoping for and to become a better team we need to sign a few stars.

Rafa has done an excellent job to get the team playing so well and conceding so few goals, but to reach the next level we will need to spend money on some outstanding players.

The priorities in January seem to be a left-back, striker, and a playmaker.

Hopefully, we can start going after those players in January – even if Mike Ashley is still the Newcastle owner at that time.

We have to admit we are looking forward to seeing St. James’ Park not covered with “Sports Direct” signs.

Or if it is then Mike Ashley is paying big money to the new owners for the privilege of advertising at one of the best supported clubs in the world.

That’s something to think about if the takeover talks do continue.

What do you think?

Everyone’s getting whipped into a frenzy about Ms Staveley buying nufc but until the “under offer” board gets nailed to the wall next to the front door this is all 2+2=27.3

jumping the gun a tad there ed! great if we do get taken over by people who would actually let rafa compete
and fund him properly in january, but ash is someone who seems to enjoy dashing people’s hopes and his all embracing greed could supper us again, like the kid who’s bored with his toy but doesn’t want anyone else to have it.

If Staveley is serious about a takeover, it would make sense that she wait until the club’s PL safety is assured, in which case, it could be another dull transfer window. Unless of course Ashley doesn’t want to gamble on safety and would be willing to take less to sell sooner, but knowing Ashley’s brinkmanship, that would seem unlikely.

    Thanks#4
The only reason SHE would be in Primark was if she was thinking of buying it.
OK, all of this is good fun and banter, but I wonder how many wealthy suitors have attended matches simply because they like to be at a live game as a guest.
Don’t get me wrong my friends, I’m 62 and have watched some dirge since the mid 60’S and I still love my Toon…. but… here’s wishing.
My love to all in black and white
