Newcastle Hoping To Sign 25-Year-Old Defender In Bargain Buy

The People newspaper are reporting today that Newcastle are interested in signing central defender Jakub Jugas who currently plays for SK Slavia Prague.

He played for FC Fastav for seven years until he joined SK Slavia Prague in May of this year.

They are the second most successful club in the Czech Republic since their independence in 1993 – Sparta Prague are the most successful.

The 6ft 2ins center-back is a powerful player who has been watched by the Newcastle scouts in his last three games, and they think his play and physique would be perfect for the Premier League.

Jakub Jugas – 25-year-old Czech defender

Center-back is one of our strengths at the moment with Ciaran Clark and Jamaal Lascelles being the starters.

But new signing Florian Lejeune has looked a good player for us when he’s played for the first team and he only lost his place through injury.

But Rafa made it clear earlier in the week that he wanted to sign players in every single position to further strengthen the Newcastle side and increase the competition for places at the club.

Jugas has played for the Czech Youth sides including 10 times for the U21 side.

Maybe he will be a target in January as Rafa tries to improve the quality of his side after a disappointing summer transfer window?

The fee quoted in the People report is only £2M – and even Mike Ashley can afford that.

That’s true, isn’t it?

CB? At 2 mil maybe as it would be a gamble coming from that league. Best to put that towards a LB.

You never know, he might be one of modern footballs rare bargains. He’s deffo not a player I have paid any attention too though. This is a story from the Sunday People though. Their accuracy rate is worse than Stephane Guivarch.

And i don,t believe for one moment that this will happen for the quoted Price . In Transfers in the Past, have started being quoted at one price and then by the time we don,the Deal takes place we have been screwed by Agents and selling club at the same time ! This is all if a third club does,nt come in and bid more and attract a player by sky high wage packet or we just don,t move quick enough! If this is true then his price has just doubled, i think?

He must be half decent for the scouts to watch him so much lately. I’m sure that Rafa will have the final say and in that I trust as it’s his reputation on the line as well as the future structure of the team.
Thanks “G” for that Guivarch comment. It’s not often I smile these days especially a Sunday morning.
