Rafa Thinks Newcastle Takeover Could Change Things In One Area

Rafa Benitez has finally talked about all the takeover speculation that has gone on this week.

Newcastle fans are hoping that a rich, ambitious investor could buy the club from Mike Ashley and sooner rather than later.

The Times reports there are at least three potential buyers engaged in due diligence at Newcastle, with one of them being Amanda Staveley.

And Rafa is reported to have met Staveley following last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool, and she probably wanted to know if he would be willing to stay long-term at Newcastle.

Rafa Benitez – maybe we can afford better players?

You never know with Ashley, but if somebody comes along with close to a £400M offer for the club, he will sell.

Rafa doesn’t really think it will change much at Newcastle other than with more money available he can buy better players.

This is what he said about that as reported in the Chronicle today:

“It doesn’t change our approach in terms of what we have to do.”

“We just have to keep working and looking forward at players in different positions.”

“Maybe if you have more money you can go from this player to this player but what you’re looking for is the characteristics of the players.”

Of course, Rafa already has Newcastle looking like a reasonably stable Premier League team and what we need now is more money to buy top players, so we have more class and creativity in the side.

That could be the difference between Newcastle being in the top six or in the middle of the table.

And we know that having an owner who matches the ambition of Rafa Benitez is really vital if we are to have some success down the road.

Comments welcome.

I suspect that if MA really is selling he will drag out any potential deal to squeeze as much cash as possible from potential buyers. Just have a feeling that he isn’t done screwing us fans yet.

Nah I think if he drags it past January the club loses value either way. If he spends big he’ll want to ask for more potentially losing investors, if he doesn’t spend then there is a potential of being too stretched as the season drags on. I take it by January Mr. Crabs will be looking elsewhere for pennies. Besides it is what ten years and he has made return on investment, good luck in your future endevpurs MA.

    ‘Nowhere to run to baby’

Ashley has not really been mentioned by HMRC at the moment for obvious reasons but trust me he will be after he losses court appeal.

In her interest in other clubs, at no time has
Amanda Staveley tried an outright purchase.

She was going to get a seat on Liverpools board
    for 39% ownership.

Those that are rubbing their hands at seeing the back
    of Ashley may be disappointed.

He’s probably just bringing investors on board
which will pay off his loan to the club and give
him some Nelson Eddies to trouser.

I think Lee Charnley would rather look across
a boardroom table at her rather than

Im expecting some negative news about the takeover rumours. We are,nt that lucky to be rid of Ashley that easy. My guess is that Staveley will opt for Liverpool and we will be back to square one.

    Hi Itunderashell,
Great track for illustrative opinion, how about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCl-62bPpZ0 as a response, he got away with it once. It is worth a listen.
As far as I can see, there have been no facts published regarding the purchase/investment.

I’ll keep my powder dry regarding that.
