Rafa Up Against His Former Assistant – Can We Finally Win At St. Mary’s?

Most of our International players should be back in Newcastle by now so Rafa can work with them and prepare for the 4pm kickoff game on Sunday afternoon which will be televised live around the world.

Newcastle were beaten 1-0 at Brighton and drew 1-1 at home to Liverpool in our last two games after our 3 wins in a row, so hopefully, we can start another winning run on Sunday.

Here are the next four games we have to play before the next International break – all are winnable.

Date Opposition Venue KO
Sun 15th Oct Southampton A 16:00
Sat 21st Oct Crystal Palace H 15:00
Mon 30th Oct Burnley A 20:00
Sat 4th Nov Bournemouth H 15:00

Rafa is up against Mauricio Pellegrino who was his assistant coach for his last two years as Liverpool manager and while he was at Inter-Milan.

I’ve voted win, but I am very aware that our record at Southampton away isn’t the finest reading.

Good news to hear that things have stabilized and no further spreading of the disease. Hope the hormone treatments work the trick! Hang in there and thanks again for the awesome continued work on this blog!

From your earlier post a couple bus stops ago….I can’t argue at all with your assessment of the Mitrovic “conundrum”. As much as I like Mitro, and one could argue about his statistics and attributes, bottom line is it only matters what Rafa thinks. But I have a hunch for some reason the Rafa does actually like Mitro, but is working always to get him to play aggressively, but without the violent / stupid stuff!

Close fought 1-0 win for us. Saints haven’t been scoring at home apart from west ham in the league and I can see us being as resolute as against Liverpool that took a wonder goal to beat us. Joselu with the winner in 1st half. A good performance to boot. CAC.
